View 2 RepliesI bought the router E2500 and I followed the steps for its configuration. It so happens that most of the time I turn on my router, it does not connect to microcomputer, because it loses the internet settings, requiring that I turn the CISCONNECT and after that, I have to turn off the microcomputer, wait for 2/3 minutes and then reconnect, for only then will be able to surf the internet. I notice that many times even I doing all this procedure the router does not give access to the internet. What should I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did not use the CD to set up, and instead set this router up manually. We are using this router right now as a hotspot only.. and all is good. I can see both new networks and the WIFI laptops are talking no problem. Only issue I have is that guest access is not working - by that I mean it can't get out on the internet. I can see it as available and connect to it. Guest access and SSID broadcast are both enabled obviously.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently use a E2500 router for my home network. I have setup the Wireless guest Network for my downstairs Tenant while he is out of work so he can still have some internet. The problem however is that often the guest network will take up 90% of my 55mb/sec bandwidth, leaving none for the primary network. Is there a way for me to Throttle the amount of bandwidth the Guest network can use? Say alot 10mb/sec for Guest access only, and leave the rest for our main network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2500 router. Is it possible to have one network name for the secured network and a different network name for the Guest network? The thought is to not have the SSID of the secured network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the Guest network to be broadcast. With the convention of simply adding "Guest" to the end of the SSID for the secured network, it defeats the security option of not having the SSID of the secured network broadcast.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got 5 E2500 routers and the main one has setup to IP address 192.168.1.254 and the rest APs are programmed into the bridge mode with the IP address 192.168.1.245 through 248. The secured wireless network works fine when I roaming between these APs but the only AP that I can get internet access for guest wireless network is the main (192.168.1.254) router; for every other APs, I will get the guest log on screen (prompt for guest access password) and no internet access after I type in the correct access password. Does the E2500 support multiple APs guest or it requires a special way to configure it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a guest wireless network using 1130AG Access Points. Is it possible to allow devices on this network access to an Internal IP? I know that kind of defeats the purpose on the guest network, but we'd like to give access to internal email to these devices. Currently this does not work because you cannot loop back into the network to gain access (out the firewall and right back in the same port).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed a Linksys E1550 wireless router at home and I moved an external storage drive from the old computer (soon to be gone) to the router via the USB port in the router.
I can see the drive and files on the router on both the old computer and the new laptop, but I can't do anything with them. When I look at permissions for any given file it says: "Everyone" has read and execute only. "root" has Full Control, but I can't gain access to the "root" userid. I have gone through the router setup and folder/file properties using the "admin" userid and the router acknowledges that it is there, but it won't allow me to add permissions for the "admin" with "Full Control" to any of the items.
It won't even allow me to add new files, even though I have setup sharing for the entire partition.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT120N that I use at home for wireless connectivity, with a total of three laptops that connect wirelessly, plus my Samsung Intercept phone. It's a mixed Wireless G and N network; the laptops run Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.The issue I'm having is this: the computers and phone do not stay connected on this network. Here's a for instance:Monday: I am able to connect wirelessly to my network with my laptop.Tuesday: I cannot connect to the same network; repairing the connection does nothing. Now substitute my laptop for the one running Windows 7, or Vista, or my phone. At that point, I have to power the router down and power it back on, and then we're back in business. The router currently is running version 1.0.05 of the firmware.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got threeLinux Boxes (running Centos 6). They were all connected to my cheap WRT54GL-- DHCP worked every time.Absolutely no problems. Both the LInux boxes and the WRT54GL had MTU set to manual, 1492.I replaced the WRTt54GL with the expensive E4200. I set the new router's MTU to manual, 1492. NONE of my Linux boxes ever receive a DHCP address. I look at the logs, and they do DHCPDISCOVER, get DHCPNACK, try several different intervals, and then fail the interface and quit.ALL I did was unhook cables from the WRT54GL and plug into the E4200. Yes, the WRT54GL was powered off. NOTHING was changed in the Linux configs. Yes, DHCP is enabled, address-range assigned, etc. BTW-- one box is dual boot with Win7-- in Win7 (using the same card, obviously), DHCP works just fine. But, Linux doesn't work.
I can give the boxes static IP's, and all is well. Just can't get DHCP to work. I evfen tried putting in DHCP reservations (via MAC assignments) for the E4200-- still doesn't work. The new E4200 is on the 02 firmware (which I believe is cuurent). If I can't iron this simple task out, in a couple of days I'm taking the E4200 back, and getting a refund. I'll stay with my old WRT54GL... it works. Hate to give up on some of the new E4200 features, though.
I just setup my EA3500 router and both SSID's are the same.Is this ok or should I give them unique names?Since they are the same what are my products connecting to?If I do separate them, what item should connect to what network?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.
