Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 Wake On LAN / WAN?

Dec 3, 2012

I would like to configure my PC to be able to use wake on LAN/WAN mainly for power issues, so I don't have to have it on all the time to access anything I need. I bought a Linksys Cisco E 900 2 weeks ago. Now I am getting really frustrated since as far as I know I did configure everything needed for it but it does not seem to work nor through WAN or even in LAN.

What I did so far is:

1. In my BIOS I could not find a seperate wake on lan option under power management but I did find a "Power on by pci(e) device which I have enable.

2. I have a built in Realtek Ethernet card on my motherboard. In the setting I: Shutdown wake on lan - Disable Wake on magic packet - Enabled Wake on pattern match - Enabled Also the option to allow this device to wake up the computer using magic packet is also ticked.

3. I use Windows 7 and have installed and started Simple TCP/IP Services

4. I opened up UDP port 9 in Windows Firewall

5. I have set single port forwarding in the E900 to my reserved IP for both TCP and UDP port on port 9 and just in case port 7.

After all this it is not even working inside my LAN. Also I tried a port scanner and checking for open ports and UDP port 9 doesn't seem to be open. Why is that? Did I configure something wrong in the router?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Default Gateway Not Available

Sep 16, 2012

I am currently using an E900 wireless router. The router is on the second story so I have to use a wireless router booster to enhance the signal strength. I have been using the booster for well over a month with no issues whatsoever; however, tonight I attempt to get onto World of Warcraft and I keep getting disconnected every 5 minutes. After I run the diagnostic it fixes the problem and says that the "default gateway not available". I tried restarting the router, restarting the booster, unplugging the wireless adapter, checked the firewall, and also restarted my computer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Static IP For Device

Jul 22, 2012

I am trying to have one of my devices always get the same internal IP address. I have an IP camera that I have setup with port forwarding. I think I found where to set it, but it isn't 100% clear that I have it set correctly. I have a E900 wireless router.

From my router's homepage I went to Setup - Basic Setup --> DHCP Reservation button. Then I found my camera in the top box (Select Clients from DHCP tables) and checked the box next to it and pressed the "Add Clients" button. Now I see my IP camera (along with the IP address I want it assigned to and it's MAC access in the section labeled "Clients Already Reserved".

So, did I go through to the procedure correctly to have my IP camera always get the same IP address?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 N300 - No Internet Connection

Oct 26, 2012

I bought the Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 router this evening in the hopes of hooking up my laptop to my apartment complex's wifi. I'd been previously using an ethernet cable to connect to an outlet which is also the cable connection for my television. I followed the instructions from the CD included, and I was able to successfully connect to the router, but it "cannot determine if I am connected to the internet." I added the device and MAC address to my wifi service account, and still no luck. I've tried connecting the old ethernet cable from the outlet I've been using to the router in one of the ethernet slots, with the provided ethernet cable being connected to my laptop and the 'internet' slot on the router. No internet connection. The recommendation is to "unplug the power cord from the DSL modem." I unplugged the power cord, waited, plugged it back in. Still nothing.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Way To Close Cisco E900 Ports

Dec 19, 2012

I just bought a Cisco Linksys E900 wireless router. Can someone explain to me why  the router (192.168.1.1 on my case) has ports 1990/tcp and 5916/tcp open on the LAN?? I cannot find a way to close those ports.

[code]...

Every client on the LAN (wired and wireless) can connect to those ports on the router. I do not want that to happen. It is unncessary and it is just not secure. I only want the router to have port 443 open on the LAN for the web mgmt interface. I do not want any other unncessary port open.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Won't Allow Wake On WAN

May 6, 2012

I'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.

From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.

So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good. With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.

However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 Randomly Dropping PPPoE Sessions

Jun 20, 2012

New E900 router drops PPPoE session and gets new IP address randomly every 1-20 hours. Tried different E900, does the same thing.  Disabled IPv6, no change.  Upgraded FW from 1.0.00 to 1.0.01, no change.  I have an SPA112 ATA behind the router and it has to re-register with the VoIP provider every time the IP address changes, so I'm afraid of my call getting dropped if this occurs while I'm on the phone.  Using an old WRT54G or a different brand of router it will keep the same PPPoE session for weeks, so it is not the ISP.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT400N - Wake On LAN And Static ARP?

Further, I know that port forwarding is set up correctly, as other applications are using forwarded ports and are working correctly). The issue seems to be that the magic packets are being blocked by the router or they are received but the router doesn't know where to route them. I monitor the network and the never see the magic packet on my subnet. how do I set up a static ARP route on the wrt400n? I suspect that I may need to create a static ARP to resolve the issue.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Share Internet Connection With Rest Of Home Network

I am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network? To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router.

My question is how do I set up my  Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE?
