My new router has started to disconnect for a second or so from the internet then reconnect. I have been unable to see the issue and changing the frequency was unsuccessful. This has also been happening when connecting both wired and wirelessly

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy internet will disconnect and reconnect randomly, nothing works every time to fix it, the time online and offline is random, sometimes it works when i turn on the computer, sometimes it doesn't , sometimes it stops after a while, sometimes restarting works.
I am running Windows XP on a desktop computer with the most current service pack installed and I have a linksys wireless router installed in the computer. I know the router isn't linksys, I think it may be netgear. I have no way of connecting wired to the router. My bf's laptop running windows 7 is used wirelessly in the same room as my desktop and rarely has any problems connecting. I should mention that this problem also occurred on this computer while living in other locations and using different routers, but it was never this sporadic. It was best when used in conjunction with the linksys WRT54G router.
I realized today looking at the status of the wireless network connection that the network name and signal strength will disappear and reappear randomly, all while still saying I am connected and that I have sent and received packets, and sometimes randomly changing connection speed as well. Sometimes an alert bubble will pop up saying that my internet connection is connected and that I have excellent signal strength, with varying speeds, but the internet still doesn't work. Or sometimes it does work. How to access it.
I recently purchased an EA2700 to replace an old Belkin. I ran the set up CD and I am unable to establish an internet connection. I am able to connect to the router (both wired and wireless), ccess the settings, etc but cant reach the net. I've tried turning off the firewall, flushing the DNS, disabledthe IPv6. Did all the basic steps, resett the modem/router, etc...nothing. i hook the Belkin up and it connects just fine

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time after the router (Linksys EA2700) is powered off and restarted, there is no interent access available. The router configuration status reports an Internet Address of 0.0.0.0 and all the devices at home are left with a wifi without Internet access. I have to unplug the WAN from the router and plug it in again while it is turned on to restore internet access (and a normal Internet Address is seen from the status page). The WAN works fine with the routers I had previously. I wonder if I have to perform this every time I power on the router. I have tried resetting the router and reinstalling Cisco Connect but that didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my EA2700 for about 6 months now. Have had no problems until about a month ago. One night I could not get the router to connect to the internet. First thoughts were that the cable connection had gone down. When I finally started to trouble shoot I was able to confirm the cable connection is fine by connecting to the modem directly.
Out of the modem I am getting 14+ Mbps. (I only Pay for 10 So a plus there)
I could not get the router to connect to the internet. I ended up resetting the router and reconfiguring it. Ever since then I have been getting really unstable connection to the internet.
When I connect directly to the modem (cabled) I am getting a nice steady connection . When I add the router and hardware in I get a good connection only a Mbps or 2 drop off and a pretty steady connection. Then when I connect over WIFI I get a much larger drop off depending on if the device is a 2.4 or a 5
The connection is extremely unstable. The curve on the graph {URL} is very peaky and has extreme highs and lows. This is multiplied when running on the GHz (as my laptop runs on). My Iphone running on GHz. I can pull down 9 Mbps but the curve is still up and down. Iphone on GHz I barely get Mbps and it is extremely choppy on the graph.
I am able to back this up with my I PAD. I can only confirm the 2.4 number with the laptop as it does not have GHz radio in it. So every thing that us running on the 2.4 is getting poor connections.
I also suspect that the through put on the wired side is poor as well. I am unable to prove it as every test I run shows a good connection but netflix has been locking up and I have to restart what ever I am watching 2 to even 10 times a show. I need to do more testing to be sure the network or the devices are to blame.
A couple of months ago my internet (Insight Broadband) began to randomly disconnect and reconnect, and recently it has become more frequent (every 5-10 minutes). I connect to my internet wirelessly through a linksys router. It's not my laptop because our desktop and xbox experience the same frequent disconnects and reconnects. I've tried the dns flush with no success. Ive also changed the wireless channel to 1 to prevent any interference. Also, our linksys router is about 4 years old, which could be the cause, but I'd like to eliminate all other possibilities first. And finally, every time i click diagnose connection I receive the error " Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.
And just recently our internet has become very slow (youtube videos taking longer to buffer with many pauses). I eliminated the possibility of my router itself being at fault as when I plugged my xbox or laptop or desktop directly into the modem the same frequent disconnects and reconnects occurred. I've had this router for about 3 weeks. It's only 20 feet from the computer, but my computer on 2 or 3 separate days had trouble staying connected. The signal dropped to 5 Mbps and had a little yellow symbol that said no internet access and when I looked at the properties it said, "limited or no connectivity." We are using Cisco router (1941W model) and our the WAN interface keeps going down randomly (sometimes happened twice within 1 hour, sometimes worked fine for 2-3 days before getting disconnected). After getting disconnected, if we unplug the cable that connects our router to the fiber terminal and then plug in back, everything works fine immediately.
We had asked our Internet Provider to come 3 times to check the network line, renew the fiber terminal and do some investigations, they said there should be no issue on their side. If it's true then there must be something wrong with the router.
We also enabled ip accounting on the router and saw very low rate of small packets coming to WAN interface.
During the downtime, LAN interface still worked fine.
I've had a N5010 laptop from a few years without many problems, using Win7 60b. Just a few days ago the wireless connection started failing saying there is no network available and that "there was a problem", what I had to do is right click the icon on the task bar, select the troubleshooting option that windows offers to fix it automatically, and after a minute or so the wireless is activated and working again, but just for a while since it lasts about 3~20 minutes and the problem starts again.
Other devices (like phones or other laptops) don't have this problem, so it's not a router issue.I've tried updating windows, re-installing the official drivers, rebooting the system, etc. I've also discovered that ethernet connection is just not working, as if it weren't there. There is no device shown on the windows device manager for ethernet.
i am a total n00b when it comes to wireless routers etc,.. i bought this router [E3200] about six mths ago, it has been working just fine untill a couple days ago, wher i woud be on the internet and all of a sudden, the internet connection drops, i am using a cable modem [ARRIS TM722G] ,i did a reset on the e3200 and put restore the settings that did last over night
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.
my E2500 drops the internet connection randomly. I have no issues with wired or wireless access to the home network (sharing files, sharing printers etc...). To fix the problem I log into the router and do a soft reboot from the status page.
I posted this earlier and the only response I received was a cut and paste answer to make some changes to my wireless settings. Seriously doubting the relevance of the post I made the changes anyway and as expected nothing changed, the router still loses access to the internet without any warning. When I replied that I hadn't thought that that was the problem but that I HAD made the changes mentioned and as I expected it DIDN'T work I get no response.
I am trying to configure my connectivity settings on my E6500. I enter 192.168.1.1 and the logon screen comes up. I have tried logging in with my user name and password and also disconnecting the internet and logging in the router password. After I log in, 98% of the time it says Router Not Found You are not connected to your router. It is funny that it is telling me this since this webpage is provided from the router since i have unplugged the internet. Even with the internet on, it does the same thing.
The times it does load the homepage of the router, I click on connectivity and when it does come up, the page is just blank with Ok, Cancel, and Apply buttons.I have done a reset on the router and reconfigured it with the CD and tried all the above again and same results.
I don't remember this being a problem when i first setup the router, it appears that a new firmware was automatically installed. I do not see any info on this being a known issue with the latest firmware.
I started using E4200 few months ago. It used to have frequent disconnection with E4200 when it's running on router mode back then. After playing with the MTU from 1492 (recommended by ISP) to 1364, it's seems to be quite ok until recently.It is getting worst than before. It disconnect my internet almost few times in 5 minutes.

I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
It's plugged in via an Ethernet Cable from a Homeplug Adapter, since the modem is not in the same room as me. Basically, I've been having problems with the internet randomly disconnecting and for no reasons. There's some days where it'll go fine, no problems at all, other than a few things that always disconnects it, then there is days like today, where it keeps connecting every time I try to go to a webpage. I cannot seem to upload anything to the web (Youtube, Mediafire, etc.) without the internet disconnecting before it uploads. The only other problem that I've had constantly, even if it is working fine, is I cannot seem to do a video call on Skype or really use my webcam to broadcast online without my internet disconnecting. Also, when I play games via Steam such as TF2, Call Of Duty, etc., I have no problem with the internet at all, it works smoothly and never crashes when I play games. And the desktop is the only thing that ever has this problem. We have 1 other desktop, and 3 laptops (all connected wirelessly) and they do not disconnect from the internet at all. This has been going on for quite a while, and I'm still not certain on what is triggering it.

This also disables access to router's address 192.168.1.1 forcing me to reset the device and set it up all over again. Why is this happening? I tried this at least five times with the same result. Second question I have is if the DHCP reservation is the right option if I want to forward ports for certain applications like Vuze? When the DHCP reservation window opens I see all my wireless devices in the list (laptop, phone) but not the main computer which is connected through ethernet port. But that is yet another problem.
I've got a cable modem, connection is set to Automatic DHCP and I all want is to disable all firewalls, NAT and other unnecessary protection that's slowing my internet speed, set up MAC address filtering, port forwarding and close this terrible software so I never have to see it or think about it ever again.
i have a EA2700 router and I'm connectied wirelessly to my PS3. If i am not hosting a game i will be lagging all over the place yet it says i have full connection to majority of games that i connect to. i paid 115 dollars for this router and am very dissapointed that its doing this. Also no there is no way for me to connect wired to the router it is to far away. Also i tried bringing my ps3 to my friends house and played on his wireless connection and it worked perfectly so its deffinetly my router.

I am not able to access the web interface of the router.No, i am not using cisco cloud or smartlink .. yes, it has the latest firmware (Ver.1.0.14.129982).Yes, I might be able to get to it if i shut down the router and turn it on again a few minutes later, but the problem is.. why? why do i have to interrupt connections and not have internet to log into the admin web interface of this device? Is there a known problem with it that makes the webservice go down?.. or to take extremely long to respond and thus the browser to quit on it throwing an error?

My new EA 2700 disconnects from the internet if the desktop is idle for more than 30 minutes. needs to be unplugged for a few minutes then it will reconnect. This is an unacceptable situation and this thing will be tossed if it cannot be fixed. Can this be reset so it won't disconnect? or do I need to replace it with a product from another company?

If I'm connected to the router wirelessly or through any of the lan ports, I can't visit the modem's diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1. If I connect directly to the modem, it works fine. Also I cannot ping the modem through the router, just get a timeout. My ISP is Comcast.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at speedtest.net with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the 1.0.14.129982 Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.
