Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea2700 Connection Speeds Slow Down On IOS Devices

Jan 18, 2013

I'm having a problem where my connection speeds slow down on my iOS devices.  I have a EA2700 router.  I have PC hard wired into the router, which maintains steady speed test numbers when other devices slow down.i have another pc that connects wirelessly (2.4 only) that maintained speed white the other devices slowEd down.  Both my iphone5 and new iPad would slow down.  The quick fix wasto turn the wifi on the device off, then the speed would return when reconnected.  Also clicking "renew lease" in the iPhone wireless settings seemed to correct the issue.I'm  not sure if there is a setting on the iOS devices or the router I can change to stop this.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unable To Get The Same Downloads Speeds In EA2700 When Compared To Wired

Nov 22, 2012

I just got a new EA2700 and I notice that there is no way to get the same downloads speeds in wireless when compared to wired.Wired to my SHAW Cable modem I get 50 Mbps when I go wireless I get simply haalf of that. I spent almost 2 hours with the Linksys support on the phone and they said my router was bad.I do not buy that but it seems that something is not clear, or Linksys do a bogus advertisement saying that we can get 10x more speeds with this generation of routers or wireless technologies are just like that, cut your wired downloads speeds in half. Getting half download speeds in wireless connections versus full when wired?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Slow Wireless And Wired Speeds - N Devices?

Just bought a dir-655, set it up (all though the wizard wasn't working, it kept getting stuck on step 5 of 7) so I just configured everything manually.I'm getting 2.4 MB/s speeds wirelessly.I was expecting much better, my wireless g linksys router did just slightly lower than that.  My xbox 360 can't even stream HD without buffering every few mins.  It also will just stop, and be unable to see the media for a couple minutes (when doing HD).I have wireless setup as WPA2, and the devices I use wirelessly are N devices.  I have the router setup to only use wireless N.

Belkin F7D4301 - Router Has Slow Wireless Speeds But Fast Ethernet Speeds

May 19, 2013

My Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.

My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.

I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.

Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT600N Slow Wi-Fi Speeds

Jun 1, 2012

I have a WRT600N router.  I have one PC that is connected to the router via a wired connection.  I also have an iPad (3rd generation) that is connected to the router via a wireless connection. On my PC, I went to and determined that I am receiving like 20MB downloads via the wired connection.  However, my iPad only gets approximately less than 2 MB download speeds.  I have tried reseting the router and I do have what I believe to be the latest firmware update (Firmware Version: 1.01.36 build 4).  I also receive the slow download speeds when I try connecting the other wireless devices.  I assume my problem has to do with some sort of configuration setting found in the router configuration page ( The router is only a few feet away from my iPad so the signal strength is strong.  I just don't understand why I'm receiving such slow wireless download speeds.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WUMC710 Slow Speeds With EA6500?

Jan 21, 2013

Unlike other people, I haven't (yet) experienced any flapping of the wireless connection: it's stable but slow.
My problem is that Samba share speed are 50MB/s without using the WUMC710 (connected directly to the router) and about 10 MB/s with connection to the WUMC710. Computers have gigabit NICs and proper cables.
The WUMC710 is about 5 metres from EA6500 and there are no obstacles. The WUMC710 says that signal is 100%.
On the EA6500 the 5GHz band is on and I have tried almost every possible compination with the settings: all the way from Mixed and full automated to Only AC and 80MHz. I also tried resetting both devices.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Download Speeds With E1200

Apr 29, 2012

I have an E1200 that will work fine for a while, then suddenly the download speed for all wireless devices will drop to between 20-30 KB/sec.  It happened last night when we were watching videos on Hulu.  We were blazing along fine, when all of a sudden the connection was horrible enough that we had to stop watching.  We have no idea what changed - there are only two of us in the house and we were both passively watching Hulu.
This has happened before, and usually changing something like the wireless channel has fixed it, but not this time. The PCs we have that are connected to the router via Ethernet get between 1-3 MB/sec, so I know it's not the modem or the ISP.The signal strength is good (4-5 bars).  I have tried repositioning the router and the wireless reciever but that hasn't worked.I have the latest firmware for the router as far as I know (v2.0.02).
I have tried every channel available (including "Auto").  I have tried switching the Channel Width between Auto and 40 MHz.  I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and re-uploading my configuraiton.  I have tried setting QoS.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200V2 Slow Wired LAN Speeds

Feb 15, 2012

Set up my new E4200V2 last night, everything appeared to be working but while streaming videos over wired LAN I get short hiccups over wired. While streaming videos, a few second long pause is really, distracting, this is a deal breaker and my previous router (DIR-655) had no issue streaming any videos. The wiring has not changed, only the router.I set up a ping between two wired linux boxes, and get: [code]

Whoa, 10 ms over gigabit LAN. This is crazy, but doesn't tell us much. The 10 ms was one out of hundreds of pings, so its only intermittent. This might explain the hiccups, but this router doesn't appear to log anything, so its hard to say.Next was scp transfers, which never exceed 15MB/s, in either direction. For gigabit, wired LAN this is awful, with my previous DIR-655 I would get at the very least 40 MB/s, in all situations.Next up, iperf. I set up iperf on the two hosts, and iperf reports reasonable gigabit speeds. [code] Tonight I am thinking of reverting to an old firmware, doing a hard reset and seeing if it persists, and if no ideas come up in this forum, it is getting returned, 15MB/s over gigabit lan is terribly broken.

I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Incredibly Slow Transfer Speeds?

Oct 18, 2011

Using 1.0.03.
I am seeing something pretty bizarre: when trying to copy files between two computers (both Windows 7 SP1 64bit), both physically plugged into the back of the E4200, I see extremely slow transfer speeds: 1.0-1.1 MB/sec.  Both computers are fast (i7-2600K, both using SSDs) and both have gigabit ports (and the 4200's web UI shows both ports in question as operating in gigabit mode).
This is so slow as to be sort of funny.  Each of these computers see speeds well in excess of that when transferring between the computer and outside internet it's kind of funny that two computers plugged into the same switch in the back of the 4200 see 1 MB/second.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Extremely Slow Download Speeds

Jun 5, 2011

All I want is functional Wi-Fi in my house like the rest of the world. Unfortunately, I cannot have that for whatever reason.

Now that I said that, Let's me get down to explaining my issue. I orginally owned a Linksys WRT350n. This router worked fine for years, untill one day I decided to do a speed test on my new Motrola Atrix. My Wired computer gets ~22000kbps down and 4000kbps up... My wireless speedtest on my Atrix yielded 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up. I assumed it was the phone, so i went and tried every other wireless device in my house. Everyone of them got the same result.. 2000kbps down.. 4000kbps up.

At this point I went into my router settings and tried every available channel, all of them yielded the same result of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up.. At this point, I assumed it was the router. Ive had it for a few years and figured it was just reaching EOL. I rushed to my nearest bestbuy to pick up a brand new Linksys E4200. I brought it home, hooked it up and was eager to test my new wireless speeds. Unfortunately the same results of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up was the yield. Once again, I've tried every possible channel with no change to my speeds. At this point I called up Linksys/Cisco support.. They were POSITIVE it was a hardware issue and had me exchange the router, even though I informed them i had the same issue with my older router of a different model. I went along with it anyway, and exchanged my router. Same issue. I called Cisco/Linksys back up and informed them, and basically they told me "they'd make a note of the issue and call me back at a later date."

I downloaded a WiFi Analyzer on my cell phone. Theres only two other dectable networks in my area, and they are low low low signal. So, I don't believe it's heavy saturation. The router is in the same room as 3 of the wireless devices that get 2000kbps down/4000kbps up. So it's not range either.

Slow Wireless Network Connection Speeds?

Aug 13, 2011

I recently moved to a new apartment to be closer to work and this apartment complex is only covered by what I was told is a wireless hotspot.Basically, a wireless devices connects to the SSID, logs in, and then you're set with the most pitiful internet still available. Now I was told I could pay $70 bucks to have these people ( by the way) install a device that would allow me to connect my desktop to the internet service. Wasn't thrilled about that. Its $40 a month, for a 1Mb connection so that wasn't going to happen anyway.Looked up internet connection sharing and had setup my laptop to use it with my desktop. My connection on my laptop has always had a very low signal; between one and two bars no matter where I'm at in my apartment. If I go outside it'll get about 4 bars but that is about it. The actual speeds listed on the Wireless Network Connection Status go from 1Mbps, 2Mpbs, 5.5Mpbs and 11Mbps. Never higher.Today I went and picked up a NETGEAR N300 wireless router. My hope was that the router might be able to pick up the wireless connection and I could just connect through my router instead of having to use my laptop. Apparently, this is not the case.I have to use my laptop act as a modem and have it plugged into the Internet port of the router and then my desktop connected to one of the LAN ports on the router. Is this setup better then using the internet connection sharing deal? Is there any other way of increasing my signal strength and network speeds?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 - Unstable Connection To The Internet

Jan 26, 2013

I have had my EA2700 for about 6 months now. Have had no problems until about a month ago.  One night I could not get the router to connect to the internet.  First thoughts were that the cable connection had gone down.  When I finally started to trouble shoot I was able to confirm the cable connection is fine by connecting to the modem directly.
Out of the modem I am getting 14+ Mbps.  (I only Pay for 10 So a plus there)

I could not get the router to connect to the internet. I ended up resetting the router and reconfiguring it. Ever since then I have been getting really unstable connection to the internet.

When I connect directly to the modem (cabled) I am getting a nice steady connection . When I add the router and hardware in I get a good connection only a Mbps or 2 drop off and a pretty steady connection. Then when I connect over WIFI I get a much larger drop off depending on if the device is a 2.4 or a 5

The connection is extremely unstable.  The curve on the graph {URL} is very peaky and has extreme highs and lows. This is multiplied when running on the GHz (as my laptop runs on). My Iphone running on GHz.  I can pull down 9 Mbps but the curve is still up and down. Iphone on GHz I barely get Mbps and it is extremely choppy on the graph.

I am able to back this up with my I PAD. I can only confirm the 2.4 number with the laptop as it does not have GHz radio in it. So every thing that us running on the 2.4 is getting poor connections.
I also suspect that the through put on the wired side is poor as well.  I am unable to prove it as every test I run shows a good connection but netflix has been locking up and I have to restart what ever I am watching 2 to even 10 times a show.  I need to do more testing to be sure the network or the devices are to blame.

Why my E3200 is (for lack of a better word) "throttling" my internet speeds.I'm signed up for my ISP's 50Mbps data plan. When I hook up my laptop directly to the cable modem (via LAN cable), I see close to 50Mbps as the internet speed (measure via When I hook up my router to the cable modem, and connect via LAN cable to the router, the internet speed comes down to around a maximum of 26Mbps. NOTE, that I am still talking about a wired connection and not a wireless access. Speed tests with the wireless access do yield the same results as well. To rule out the obvious, I've confirmed that there aren't any other devices on the network and no other bandwidth hogging applications running while I performed these tests.

Cabling / Cards :: Slow / Spiking Internet Speeds With Wired Connection Through D-link WBR-1310 Router

Sep 18, 2012

I have recently had trouble with my wireless D-link WBR-1310 Router. Two days ago everything was working fine, my wireless connection from the router to my macbook was fine and the wired connection to my desktop pc was also fine. I went to bed and when I woke up the next day everything was still ok. About 3 hours after I had first turned on the PC that next day my wired connection started spiking and dropping connection frequently, maybe every 5-10 minutes or so. I play world of warcraft and I also use Mumble VoiP Program and my pings in both are over 800 constantly now making it impossible to stay connected to either program. Sometimes it will drop down to regular numbers (25-50ms, I play on eastern servers as I am in NY) but then rapidly jumps back up into the 1,000's. My wireless connection is still fine though nothing has happened to that, only my wired connection is messing up.

I've tried changing my speed and duplex settings on my onboard NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet which is what im using but it hasn't worked. When connecting directly through the modem the problem seems to stop so its definitely the router.
