I would like to connect my old WRT54G3G router to my new WRT54GL (connect to dsl modem) and have wireless on both activated.I have set both on different channels with same SSID and same passwords on WPA2 Personal AES.I have also made the network IP different WRT54G3G 192.168.0.99 and WRT54GL 192.168.0.98.I have also deactivated network DHCP on 192.168.0.99. and Operating mode to router and still not working.

I wasn't experiencing any problems with it however over the last 3 weeks I have been having difficulty accessing my own website when the router is being used. the link is: [URL].. This is really strange I can't get my head around it, when I do a straight connection from the modem to PC the web page works so it isn't my ISP blocking the website. It just doesn't work when being accessed through the router. When I go through a proxy site such as [URL] it works, the webpage loads! In Google Chrome the error message I get is:
Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.
How to open port 443 on my wireless router model WRT54G3G-AT? For a secure business connection. Plese don't give me a link to follow, I've tried that one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis issue just started happening. I have a Sierra Wireless Aircard 595 plugged into a WRT54G3G-ST. I will be browsing the internet and all of a sudden, I get the message that Internet Explorer cannot find the web page. At that point, I cannot get to any website. I have several PC's, both wired and wireless connected and they all have the same problem,. I have tried Google Chrome, Firefox and IE9 and all browsers have the same issue. My email continues to download through Outlook, I can use WS FTP and I can also log in to a remote computer using Logmein. It is just browser access that is affected.
There is no set time table to the error. Sometimes it happens within minutes, sometimes it is 30 minutes and sometimes it is over an hour. The only way out of it is to either unplug the router, let it set 30 seconds, then plug it back in or I found that I can go into the setup and do a disconnect from mobile broadband and reconnect and it starts working again. Of course, Sprint says they do not deal with issues unless the card is plugged directly into my PC, which is not the environment that I am running in (even though I bought the router and card from them.) Does Linksys still make a mobile broadband router?
I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.

When my family comes over they can connect with their iPads and laptops but for some reason I can not get this iPhone 4G to connect. We put in the password and it says unable to connect. Are there any special settings that need to be made to the router to let the IPhone connect?

Now my girlfriend said she's pushed the Cisco Systems logo/button on the front of the router (which is now orange), but that's tho only thing that's been touched. When I plug the cable straight from the computer to the internet souce, I get connectivity. I've looked at a lot of guides now, but all of them require me to turn of the modem - which I cannot do, as it's a centralized modem in my appartment block. All I have on my site of things is an internet plug in the wall. What can I do to regain my wireless internet ?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have just purchased my wrt54gl two weeks ago. Setup was a breeze and it worked flawlessly until this morning when i noticed i had no internet. The ethernet light on my modem, when connected to router (Ubee 10C035 3.0/Comcast ISP) will blink 2-3 times then stop for a half second then blink 2-3 times and so on. Plugged ethernet cable from pc directly into modem and my desktop connected to the 'net fine and light was blinking normally(constantly) again. A few power cycles/reset of the Router to defaults but no luck.

Is this a setting where the cable connected pc gets preference that I could switch off?
I can't connect my router (WRT54GL) to my new cable modem (Motorola Surfboard SB6120).
Some info:
1) Cable modem works perfectly when connected directly to computer ethernet port
2) ISP is Optimum Online
3) Using Automatic DHCP setting on router
4) Using MAC cloning on router
5) I can access the router's admin screen from the PC
6) I can connect to the router wirelessly, but no internet access
7) I've tried powering down everything multiple times, still no internet access
8) I upgraded the router firmware to 4.30.14
9) The "link" light on the cable modem never lights up when connected to the router
I had the router working fine then last night for some reason it dropped 2-3 (all of them currently on) internet, while online.I can connect wireless just fine to the router but get no internet, when i plugged into the router directly i still go internet, but when i connect the modem directly into the laptop i get internet so it is not the modem. I have tried to reboot the router and modem to no avail.i can access the routers page wirelessly and change stuff but just don't get any internet and the signal strength is excellent.

The original firmware the router came with had a bug, and couldn`t even connect to a PPPOE network. I downloaded the latest firmware version for this model (4.30.14 build 5, Oct. 26, 2009). Now it can connect to PPPOE but the broadband speed is limited to ~ 30Mbits/s. My ISP normally provides a download speed up to 80-90MBits/s, and if I bypass the router, and connect the internet cable directly to my PC, it works.
The QoS is disabled, so this can`t be the problem, but I searched the internet, and I found that it can be because the router`s CPU is too slow and can`t handle connections up to 80-90Mbit/s download speed, but this sounds a little bit weird to me.Did any of you gus run into this problem? Is it a hardware problem, or a software one? Maybe there`s something I need to set up in the admin interface?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).

I am wondering if there is any benefit with using an 802.11n wireless router to access the Internet? The maximum theoretical speed of the WRT54GL router is 54 Mbps (802.11g), which is faster than the 15 Mbps provided by my ISP.
I know that 802.11n has a max bandwidth of 300 Mbps, and it would work for intra- house transfers, such as streaming video from one computer to another.
But is there any benefit to 802.11n for Internet activity, such as web browsing, gaming, and streaming video from Netflix.
I had configured the AAA server on CoovaAP and was able to access the internet.I had configured the user name and password as a "testuser" and "password" respectively. With that user id i used to access the Coova AP router and internet.Now i want restore the WRT54GL firmware on Lynksys router. But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times. Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I cant to do much on the router untill i will log in to router. I have spent lot of time on this. How to restore back the original WRAT54GL firmware on my router. Anyhow i want WRAT54GL firmware on Lynksys router

I've confirmed the modem is actually working by connecting my laptop directly (which worked), but when I connect the Linksys WRT54GL wireless router to my modem the internet connection goes away. The connection is lost when connected via wireless and hardwired to one of the back ports. I've tried resetting the modem, router and computer and read every forum out there trying to find something, but i'm still stuck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have received from a customer of us an WRT54GL box configured with a Coova software. This Wifi router was supposed to be a Wifi hotspot, but was not configured by us. This box is able, on startup, to get an IP by DHCP, to touch a remote Radius server, and so on (we "tcpdump" the Internet traffic, and we saw DNS requests, radius requests, ...)...
But, we are unable to connect to this box,by SSH or by HTTP, either by plug-in PC to the Internet RJ45 or the LAN RJ45. It has no IP as 192.168.1.1. Instead, it was configured to have 192.168.1.1 as gateway.
Of course, we have no doc on previous install, but only the admin/root password for SSH.We are afraid to lose the config (coova, ...) if we perform a hard reset.What is the best way for connecting on this box ?
Why this router have DHCP server and Port forwarding features and many LAN ports, but does not have DHCP reserve feature? If I can plug many computers, each one get own IP address, but how I can't fix it? I need to port forwarding of course, but if lease time ended, next time my computer got other IP address, so I need to reconfigure port forwarding each time! Of course I can do it, but try to explain it for your wife? Yes, I can use static IP addresses, but for what this box have DHCP server?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI accidentally pressed the front panel button labeled "Cisco Systems" on my WRT54GL wireless router. The button turned to a flashing white which I understand means that it entered SecureEasySetup mode. I then power cycled the router and the front panel button turned back to solid orange. However, now the "WLAN" lamp flashes a lot more often than before even when there are no wireless clients connected. It doesn't seem to be affecting connectivity or performance of my Ethernet connected devices or wireless connected devices. I re-entered my SSID and security key. That didn't curtail the increased flashing of the WLAN lamp. I also tried pressing the front panel button for 5 seconds. This only cleared my wireless settings.

Both PCs achieve maximum speed when downloading from the internet but when I try to copy something from one PC to another over the local network I get stuck on max 2.5-3MBps (megabytes).

(or any other vpn privacy service for that matter) I already have an internet connection up and live with a cisco router so I would need to connect the linksys to the cisco and use the linksys as a vpn gateway kind of thing, so that any computer connected to the linksys will automatically be in the vpn tunnel without needing any cleint software installed on it. I've had a WRT54GL ( for about a week now ) with no real issues. Today my wife mentioned that the net's been flaky ( wireless nto hard wired ). I originally noticed what seemed like minutes for my desktop of laptop to connect to any web pages. Loads were extremely slow. According to the computer I had a 1 mbps connection. I did the standard resetting of the modem and router.babble babble babble. Eventually, I ran a wifi analyzer from my phone to determine an ideal channel. However, while running the frequency scanner I also noticed that my broadcasting would continue to drop off the radar for a quick moment then return. This seemed to be true no matter what channel I set. What's interesting is that the signal would read as extremely strong for 45 sec - 1 minute, then completely drop the signal, then another strong broadcast. Other neighboring signals don't exhibit this behavior....well I would see the weaker signals coming in and off the radar from time to time. I'm guessing it's some type of interference? However if that's the case I can't explain why my signal seems so strong. I'm assuming I'd see a lot of fluctuation in my signal before dropping off ( instead of going from 100 to 0 in the blink of an eye ).

It's working one and after it stop working, looks like the router is not responding anymore. If I got on the web interface of the router, I loging, on the first web page I press save changes, even if I didn't change anything, the UPnP feature work again.
Looks like a timeout occure or something like that. Is there a way to wake up the router without having to go on the web interface? Why it's stop working?
Firmware Version: v4.30.15
Router is setup as DHCP and only allows 7 IP address leases that expire daily. Lease time is set to 0. I have the latest firmware. Until recently when our family started using Apple iPhones (2 of them), I didn't have this issue.
Now I'm having a problem where my clients table will show leased IP's with no devices attached to them. I have to clear those no-name addresses so that the iPhones and other non-Apple wireless devices in the house can re-establish a connection.
How can I get those IP's to be removed without having to constantly log into the router and clear them?
I have two WRT54GL wireless routers. I have a computer and printer in my office connected to one of them. I'd like to add a computer and printer back in the shop to my network without using a wired connection. Can I use the 2nd wirelss router so that all computers and printers are on one network?
