I do not have a problem communicating with the router itself (either hard wired or wireless) but I have been unable to establish a usable internet connection from the router.I live in building that is wired by Restech Services - Ethernet jack in wall - no modem. Connection works just fine if I bypass router and connect directly to PC (windows XP SP3 desktop or windows 7 laptop.),Very difficult to establish any internet connection at all. I have to renew IP address many times or go through re-boot sequence multiple times. Once I get a connection it is unusable. If I attempt to ping a URL (either from PC or from router admin page) it is unable to resolve host. If I ping an IP directly (either from PC or router administrator page) I typically get 60 to 80% packet loss. As noted, if I bypass router and make internet connection directly to PC - no problems - no packet loss.Used Cisco Connect software to set up. On advice of ISP changed MTU from 1500 to 1300. Also registered MAC id with ISP and changed from cloning PC MAC to using the router MAC. Downloaded and installed latest firmware version. Did factory reset and re-configured the whole thing. Double checked and swapped wiring.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a sky router (Netgear DG834GT), which i have connected a secound router to which is a D link DIR-615 (with DD wrt firmware D4).I can get access to the sky router remotely without any issues even when changing the port number. its the Dlink router i cannot get access to remotely (within the network i can by typing in the dlink's ip address and works). Main router Sky router IP is 192.168.0.1 - Currently the port number is 8081.Secondary router Dlink IP is 192.168.0.2 (Static ip) - currently the port number is 8080.I have tried to configure the ports but it just dont want to open. Ive tried to open the ports on main netgear and tried all the option my dlink for port forwarding. i must be missing something fundametal here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a continuing problem with my WRT54G2 wireless router. I set up my network, changing the password for the router, and I change the SSID, as well as the encryption password. When I set it up, and after changing passwords etc. I always log off, go back and log on, and it works fine. Once I set up the network, over time, I'll notice a device will no longer connect via wireless. When that happens, I try to log on to the router, and can not connect to the router using either Firefox or IE. When I try, I get Internal Server Error, or just nothing. I can ping the router, and if I run an IPCONFIG at this point, the default gateway does show 192.168.1.1. Every time this starts to happen, I must do a hard reset of the router. Once I do this, I can connect, and log on using the default settings, and re-set everything. This is a HUGE pain, as it takes a lot of time, and happens way too often.

Switching browsers (I've tried Firefox 5 and IE 8) does not solve the problem, nor does disabling AdBlockPlus/NoScript on Firefox. Any way to access my router so I can begin forwarding ports again?

Although, from my provider, it should be possible to establish a connection at 25'000 kbit/s (download), max speed is at about 800 kbit/s. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located and I don't use any phones (except for a cell phone). I read on this board, that I might have to change the wireless settings on the router and change the radio band but didn't manage to do so. I'm using Mac osx and a wireless connection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54G2 v1 (no new firmware available) with a cable-modem connection (Motorola Surfboard), every thing works perfect but when my ISP goes down and then back up I cannot get the router work, LAN or Wifi connection. I have ping response to the router and I'm also able to get into the admin page. The only way to recover is restarting the router and sometimes releasing DHCP and then Renewing it, and the Wan connection actually gets the same IP it had before.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new EA3500 router that's working great for a variety of devices* except a Windows7 laptop. 24 hours after establishing a connection, the laptop loses connectivity and it's very difficult to re-establish a connection. Usually I have to reboot the router, but 24 hours later the problem returns and Windows is unable to connect.
My router settings include DHCP client lease time set to 1440 minutes (24 hours), so I thought the problem might have something to do with DHCP lease renewal. To test this theory, on Saturday night I did ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew and established connectivity from the laptop.
Sunday morning I spoke with Linksys support and changed several settings per their recommendation:Network mode mixed (I had it on N-only for some reason)Assigned different SSIDs to the 2.4GHz band and 5 GHz band2.4 GHz band channel is 20MHz only, using channel 95 GHz band channel is 40 MHz only, using channel 161I also power cycled the router. Everything worked fine until Sunday night, 24 hours after the release/renew, when I lost connectivity. I am not sure what to try next and whether the problem lies with the router or the laptop.
I bought a Linksys router last summer for my PC and Xbox. The PC and XBox are hardwired into the router. About two weeks ago, my router began dropping connection throughout the day. Sometimes it happens 3+ times in an hour. Other times it works for several hours before it drops.I upgraded the firmware as one fix and did a hard reset of the router. Still drops connection.I changed the MTU to 1400 and it worked fine for several hours but then dropped again the next morning. Also, like others on the forums, when I changed the MTU and hit Save Changes, it just ran and ran, never timed out...but never showed that it finished the command to save (if you get my meaning).I downloaded the Cisco Wireless Magic program to troubleshoot. It tells the same thing everytime. Unplug your router for 10 seconds and start over...My PC sometimes flashes a warning when I am restarting the router that I am getting Limited or NO Connectivity.

It's not the modem, because if I connect my desktop directly to the modem, it connects fine (which is how I'm typing this now), but if I plug in the router, my desktop and my laptop (wireless) will show they're connected to the network, but that there is no internet connection available. Support won't troubleshoot because I've had my router 1 year and 10 days (which I think is a crock of **bleep**) and the "Guide Me" thing is just running me around in circles. I'm so pissed off I'm about to throw the router through a window and buy another (*NON*-Linksys) router, rather than pay $30 for one time tech support (which, with my luck, the same thing would happen again in 3 months, and the same directions wouldn't work then). View 2 Replies View RelatedMy router has been dropping the internet connection for years. The ethernet connection to the desktop works fine all the time. The problem is only with the wireless connection. About every 1/2 hour or so the router will drop the wireless connection and neither or my 2 laptops can find the network. Unplugging the router and replugging it in solves the problem temporarily, until it drops it again. I updated the firmware to 1.0.4 and that yielded no changes.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have two sites, Site-A with a ASA 5520 (Remote Access IPSEC VPN server) at one end and a new ASA 5515-X at Site-B. Users at Site-B are unable to establish a VPN connection to Site-A via Cisco VPN client from behind the new ASA 5515-X. They see the following error:

Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding.
They are able to access the same from home or elsewhere so I believe there is nothing wrong with Site-A ASA vpn config which we have been using for a while now. The new 5515-X (version 8.6) has a very basic config with all outbound traffic allowed. I'm pasting the config below. Do I need to enable/allow anything for it to work?

WRT54G2 router has been working great since I got it a year ago. But recently I'm experiencing really slow wireless speed. My normal speed is around 15 Mbps but now it has dropped to about 0.85 - 1.0 Mbps. At first I thought someone might be using my connection without my knowledge so I changed the password but it was still slow. I then changed my wireless channel (I heard that if too many people are on the same channel it can cause interference) and it worked. However, a little bit later (sometimes a few hours and sometimes a few days) my connection would become slow again. I have also tried upgrading my firmware but no luck.

I have WAG120N and I want to use ssh tunneling to browse the net.In windows, I have to use a software like putty or xShell to establish a ssh connection to remote server.It works perfectly and I don't have any problem with it.The problem occurs when I want to use this ssh account in linux.At first,connection established without any problem or error.After 2-3 minutes it seems ssh dies and no data transmitted through ssh tunnel.I tried this with Symphony ADSL modem(Wired only) and I have no problem with it.I want to know if there's any specific problem or configuration for WAG120N to solve this problem?I like this modem/router and I don't want to sell it and buy any other modem/ router.I have to mention that usually I use wired connections to WAG120N,but at some cases I need to use its wireless features.

The network consists of 2 wired PC'S, NAS, MEDIA SERVER, Solar Monitoring Device, Network Printer and several laptops, all of which used WINXP-SP3. The network was fairly stable until we started replacing machines with a WIN7 OS.I prefer a wired network and everything except the laptops, all have static IP's assigned.Now for some reason we're getting error messages for "IP conflicts" originating from the laptops hooking up wireless and the router assigning a DHCP IP within the range of Static IP's that I've reserved for wired devices.I want to direct the router to establish DHCP wireless IP's (for visistors) in a specific range and also allow me to establish Static wireless IP's within a specified range for our laptops, kindles, etc.

That way I can have a wireless connection in my room and also be connected on my desktop. However, recently, I reset my router because I was having connection issues with a certain program, and I ran the setup CD afterwards just like I have every single time I've done this, but now I can't connect. I can access the router settings and everything just fine.It says I have a connection, and when I connect my desktop directly to my modem, I can connect just fine. When I have the router connected to the modem and try and connect wirelessly with another device, the access point pops up, and it begins to connect, but then fails in the end.

I have used the WRT54GC (v2.0) router for a few years now, everything worked as smooth as butter, but a few days ago it just stopped detecting the internet connection. Everything works fine with the modem. After resetting the router, I tried to reinstall everything using the setup wizard but at the eleventh step, a pop-up message appears saying that it is "unable to detect the Internet connection" and, like I said previously, the modem works just fine. The username and password for the connection are correct (connection type: PPPoE).

During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

I plugged the ethernet cable directly from the modem to the computer and everything was fine, so I reset the router, reconnected it to the modem, and went to the setup page 192.168.1.1. I reconfigured the router on the setup page, leaving all previous settings the same (except I renamed the network from linksys to our own name and reconfirmed the WPA Personal password). My computer can connect to the wireless network but I can't go online.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWent away on vacation for a couple of weeks and when I got back my Linksys WRT54G2 has lost it's configuration. It's showing a WiFi signal, but is no longer password protected.
I've tried connecting with a desktop on the same network, to 192.168.1.11, but that address is not connecting. I tried to reach it with my iPad wirelessly, and it's giving me the login screen, but not allowing me to login. I tried to use the reset button on the back to reset it to the factory default, but then I should be able to login with no username and the password of "admin", correct? But that's not getting me in either.
I'd like to get this network password protected again and not offer a signal to all of my neighbors.
I've tried to connect my father's laptop and my father's girlfriend's daughter's PC to my Linksys Wireless Router, model #WRT54G2 V1. So far, I have steady and fast internet access on my PC which so far I've only gotten my father's laptop to connect through. However, I can't figure out how to get her PC to get internet access through my router. I'm mediocre at configuring computers, and I'm absolutely terrible at routers. :/ There was the possibility that her computer isn't new or advanced enough or whatever to be compatible with a wireless router, but at the same time she has a Wireless Network Setup Wizard app. in the control panel area, so wouldn't I be correct in assuming that if a computer has a wizard dedicated to it, it is compatible? I've run Wireless Network Setup Wizard as well as just plain Network Setup Wizard, and I've had them both read that it was successful connecting to my Router's network...but where do I go from there? I've never had to mess with a PC before so I'm not entirely sure. She has a modem, which can not be plugged into the phone jack at the same time as my modem otherwise we both do not have internet access, however if one of us plugs in that person is fine, so that's when I figured I'd try to get her PC into my network with my dad's laptop. Also, we have a Broadband connection setup through Verizon, if that matters at all. Does she need a modem to hook up to my network at all? If so, does that modem need to be plugged into the phone jack? If required I'll give her OS and PC specs and such, but from what I know just being on her computer she runs Windows XP as an OS and her computer is an "eMachine".

I have recently moved and got it working for a day then the wireless did not work and i was not able to access the setup webpage either. What I ended up doing was upgrade the firmware to the newest one and it worked well for about 2 weeks but then started again and the only way it works is to reboot the router but then the next day it will not work.
