I usually acess internet on Wi-Fi, and now I have travelled, and got my laptop with me. The internet here is Local Are Connection, the one with the cable, and it says I am connected, 100 Mbps, but no internet access! I can't browse or open anything that has to do with the internet... However, It works perfectly fine on EVERY other laptop. I've searched a lot of places and I've been told to write commands like ipconfig/ all andd netsh int ip reset.log but when I do that I get "The following command was not found : int ip reset.log" I set the properties in TCP/IP to Automatically detect settings .. but nothing.

I have wireless connectivity, but my ethernet local area post will not work. Pinged 198.168.1.1 but got 4 timed out messages. Checked hardware condition and the controller card says it is functioning properly. Running Network Properties shows only the wireless connections, with Local Area Port disconnected.

I can't connect to the internet. When I double click Local Area Network under Network connections it says it has both sent and received packets. It is set to automatically acquire an ip address. The computer is connected to a router. I can ping 192.168.1.1 but when I try to reach my router's settings it says page can't be loaded. I tried to hook the computer up directly to the modem and connect that way. It said it was connected and it was sending packets but I still couldn't do anything. I've turned off the windows firewall. The computer is Windows XP SP1.

This is the second time I have had this issue happen. Here is some probably useful information:
-I have (2) HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops running on Vista
-I have (1) iPad 2
-I am using a Belkin Surf N300 router
We lost power due to a storm last week, and both of my laptops would not connect to the Internet. I could connect to the router with access saying local only. I called Belkin and they changed some information on my laptop to allow me to connect. Now, I have the same issue with my other HP laptop and again called Belkin but they could not fix the issue. I can connect to the router and use the Internet on my iPad and (1) of my HP laptops, but not my last one. Even when I connect to the router with an Ethernet cable, it says local only access and no internet connection. So I did the ipconfig /all on both laptops and here is what they say..
Laptop that does NOT connect to Internet shows this:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6000]

Windows IP Configuration

Sometimes for a minute sometimes all day until I reset modem/router. It never says not connected though...it always says connected and excellent signal strength but when it won't access internet I can look at my modem/router and tell by the lights its not working even though it says connected. This time even though I reset everything like normal I still can't access internet. I thought it might have been my router so I went and bought a new one and still nothing. Doesn't work wireless or through local connection. Both say connected but nothing. When I do a diagnostic I get the DNS 0x2afc and HTTP 12007 errors. Both computers won't connect so I'm thinking it has to do with my actual router settings or modem. Both Windows XP and Windows 7 laptops won't work.

I have a Dell desktop with Windows XP Home Edition. I recently restored the computer to factory settings and when I tried connecting to the internet the Local Area Connection wasn't showing in My Network Places. I have been searching through other forums and tried the things that they suggested but nothing worked. I am trying to connect to an AT&T U-verse 2Wire router through a wired connection. I tried connecting both wirelessly and wired to another computer and everything worked fine. I checked the Device Manager and there is an ! mark next to the Ethernet Controller. The properties say that the drivers for that device aren't installed. And of course I can't install them since I can't access the internet. Other forums suggested that I check the network adapters option in Device Manager but that isn't available in the device manager.

My error message states that "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Registering with DNS".I have no internet connection on my HP PC, which is why I am typing this on my laptop. On the HP I am running windows xp with sp3.I connect to a cable modem provide by Time Warner. This problem started yesterday, so I have been utilizing both computers with one internet connection, or plugging and unplugging the cat5 cable.I have run Microsoft Essential Full scan, as well as Malwarebytes's Anti-malware.Now I ran both of those in Safe mode, and picked up no bugs. I have Avast as my antivirus software, and the message I receive on that is that "Avast will not be able tp protect mail/news (error 10050). I am unable to turn on the web shields for Avast.I have manually entered the IP addresses into my HP from my laptop, all the way thru DNS servers. It still won't connect.I tried using the Internet explorer diagnostic tool, and it came back and said that I have a winsock issue.

1. Internet works ok, everything is fine, but then it stops working for no reason.
2. I open Network and Sharing Center, and do diagnostics. They come up with result: "the default gateway is not available". Nothing works. But Local Area Connection and Network Controller are both enabled.
3. I have to restart computer for the internet to work again. However, it doesn't restart: it hangs forever in "shutting down" screen, and nothing happens. Probably because computer is still trying to connect to the internet (?)
4. After forced restart, internet doesn't work, but if I run diagnostics again, they come up with result: "The Local Area Connection adapter is disabled", and fixes it automatically. Internet works then.

I have just recently installed a new router for my home and the ethernet connection stopped showing up. It instead said "no connections available". I figured the onboard network adapter gave out because of the orange light it gave off and bought a NetGear GA311 network adapter. I installed it and updated it, but the connection still says there are none available.

Im planning to do a LAN for internet/file sharing and of course LAN game There are people that living far from each another like 1 mile away.... thats a problem.Cat5 Ethernet cables are not made for long distance connectivity ( 100 meters of length max, otherwise bad connection). So because i need a connectivity between pc's for long distance I can use Wireless, expensive, and because I prefer wired and I heard that there is a way to convert CAT5 cable into phone line, because phone lines can be used for long distance connectivity without problems. So I wonder if there is a way to do that LAN connectivity using phone lines.RJ45 to phone line, do they exist these adapters? if yes, will this work for me
