Can't Connect To Internet But Local Area Network Is Sending Packets?

I can't connect to the internet. When I double click Local Area Network under Network connections it says it has both sent and received packets. It is set to automatically acquire an ip address. The computer is connected to a router. I can ping 192.168.1.1 but when I try to reach my router's settings it says page can't be loaded. I tried to hook the computer up directly to the modem and connect that way. It said it was connected and it was sending packets but I still couldn't do anything. I've turned off the windows firewall. The computer is Windows XP SP1

I can connect to my LAN at home and now am away for the winter and my wife's laptop connects automatically and mine will not detect a network with the same exact hookup
How do I connect to internet using Local Area connection? I only access internet via wireless connection. With Local Area connection, IPv4 and IPv6 do not have internet access[CODE]

On my Ethernet Local Area Connection it says status is: Limited or no connectivity i am running an Ethernet cable from my xbox 360 to the Ethernet adapter slot at the back of my computer, no wireless or anything. And as i say the internet works fine though i cant get any connectivity out of the Ethernet adapter.This used to work fine two weeks ago, now it refuses to work i recently moved and so i disconnected my pc nothing broke and all it did was sit around in a safe place before the move EVERYTHING worked fine, On my xbox the display says:Network adapter - wired IP address - failed?i'm running windows xp sp 2?
I wasn't able to connect to my modem's Ethernet for a month, before that, i was able to use my Ethernet when connected to PC, but when i threw it away, i tried many time to connect to my modem' Ethernet but all the attempts were a failier.......Is it because of the cable that i must connect or is it the com or modem that is wrong?

My laptop (win7) can connect to wireless, but not Local Area Connection.This is the capture of my device manager, it reported that the driver of ip6 failure.but I do not think ip6 relates.I tried configuring a static IP address, reinstalling network driver, or disabling and enabling network cards.
Ok so my dell Inspron desktop has had many internet related issues before, but this time it can't find the local area connection. I have taken the Ethernet cord and plugged it into the laptop im posting on and it works just fine so it is a problem with the computer.
I have just recently installed a new router for my home and the ethernet connection stopped showing up. It instead said "no connections available". I figured the onboard network adapter gave out because of the orange light it gave off and bought a NetGear GA311 network adapter. Im planning to do a LAN for internet/file sharing and of course LAN game There are people that living far from each another like 1 mile away.... thats a problem.Cat5 Ethernet cables are not made for long distance connectivity ( 100 meters of length max, otherwise bad connection).So because i need a connectivity between pc's for long distance I can use Wireless, expensive, and because I prefer wired and I heard that there is a way to convert CAT5 cable into phone line, because phone lines can be used for long distance connectivity without problems.So I wonder if there is a way to do that LAN connectivity using phone lines.RJ45 to phone line, do they exist these adapters? if yes, will this work for me
i have a ISDN connection i have got 1 static WAN ip and 7 static LAN ip . i have connected it to a server 2008 r2 given that the WAN ip and shared it how do i assisgn 7 LAN static IP in local area network
I keep getting this pop up message that says "local area network limited or no connectivity". It appears every 20-30 seconds and drops my internet connection. When I click on the message and opens up the connection box, it states it's functioning properly.
I am not able to browse my local area network. I get internet fine. I have a vista laptop connecting wirelessly and the dir-655 is connected to a giga switch. The rest of my network is connected to that switch.
Local Area Connection - Network Cable Unplugged I am using Professional 2000 and have a Linksys WRT54G Version 8.2 Wireless Router...have broadband connection through Brighthouse. I am now using my dell optiplex 755, with windows xp sp3. The first set up was with wireless ,which works fine, but now I am trying to use the ethernet to netgear switch, to comcast modem, from dell desktop, I get error that says,TCP/IP is not enabled for thisconnection.Can not proceed. I usually acess internet on Wi-Fi, and now I have travelled, and got my laptop with me. The internet here is Local Are Connection, the one with the cable, and it says I am connected, 100 Mbps, but no internet access! I can't browse or open anything that has to do with the internet... However, It works perfectly fine on EVERY other laptop. I've searched a lot of places and I've been told to write commands like ipconfig/ all andd netsh int ip reset.log but when I do that I get "The following command was not found : int ip reset.log" I set the properties in TCP/IP to Automatically detect settings .. but nothing.
I am planning to deploy a "Digital Notice Board system" in my office, which gets feed from web server and display data/stream on LCD Screen. Well i am done with implementing all the interface on server side and its working pretty well with client side computer. But instead of using Client Side Computer, I just want to use LCD and make some network interface of Local Area Network directly with LCD (to save cost/installation/maintenance of a dedicated computer with LCD ).
My computer is running on Windows 7. It has had no prior internet connection problems. It is wired to my DV-2020 router. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore. Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider) Changing wiring. Disabling / Enabling. Disabling virusscanner.
The link to Local area connection on the PC i am working on is no longer showing under Network and Sharing center. However the connection is up and I can access the internet. If I do an ipconfig /all I see the adapter setting as I set them. In device manager the device is working properly. I checked the BIOS and the NIC is enabled
Very soon for the second time we will be replacing systems in our (grad school) student computer Lab from the time of its opening in January, 1998. The monitors are recessed down below glass desk surfaces and are 17-inch CRT (Dell).Our current (medium) computers are SFF GX-150 and have 512MB RAM (doubled from the original 256) and 80 GB hard drives. The new GX620 will have 2GB RAM, 160MB hard drive.In addition, our current 10/100 Ethernet LAN for this part of the campus is also supposed to be upgraded to Gigabit (switch). Any experience of using Gigabit in an organization's local area network to find out any concerns for which I should be alert as we begin this new phase. Incoming students arrive before middle of August so the switch-out needs to be done fairly quickly and smoothly. What concerns should I have?
The "Local area network connection" is not visible in Network Connections. The Ethernet controller and adapter driver is properly install (no yellow signs). All Network services are also running properly.
The network is working fine, and getting an IP address from DHCP but has to restart the DHCP service once after booting.
I am using hp pressario C7000 with window 7 32 bits. Can not access the internet. The reports 'local area network doesn't have a valid ip configuration'.
How to place security + a password on a folder that is shared on a local area network. i don't want other users to access the contents in the folder since we are all on the same local network.
