Lose All Connections After A Few Hours?
Apr 10, 2011
a few weeks ago I started hosting a server for a game from my computer. It's been working fine and I've been having no problems except for one. After a few hours of hosting my server, my internet connection will immediately drop down to 1.0mbps, and I lose all connection to everything until I reboot my computer.I'm using a wireless internet adapter right now and having this problem, but when I used a wired connection a similar thing would happen where my entire connection would "lock up" in a way. I couldn't connect to anything until I rebooted my computer

I have a strange problem which looks to me like a DOS attack from the inside..but I cant be sure.
Symptoms:
All xlate connections used within hours.
Xlate connections start with all our servers across our WAN before moving onto all workstations.
No viruses have been found.
Looked in syslog and I cant find one single outside IP that seems to be a possible source.

I have taken on a new client who has the following setup, BT Infinity, Vigorpro 5510, and SBS 2011 server. I was involved with unpacking and seting up the equipment to get client up and running. I have never setup a firewall before, and after contacting Draytek, they guided to get BT infinity, 5510 to talk so that the server was able to get onto the internet. The setup was then left in its default state. All was fine until lately, the client keeps losing internet approx same time most days.My problem is how do i get the 5510 properly configured to talk to BT infinity, and sbs 2011. I always get lost when it come to playing with IP address. Also the client has a fixed IP address supplier by BT, so want to know how to setup the vigorpro with this address. [code]

It seems that whenever I go on newegg, I lose my internet. It will regain signal quickly, but is a huge annoyance. I cannot shop nor look at parts pricing without this disruption. It is only when I am on newegg does this happen.

I have a Motorola SB5101 Cable modem, it connects to a Linksys BEFSR81 8-port router. A WRT54G and a vonage voip device also plug into the BEFSR81 lan ports. I am running Win 7 (32bit). When it works, everything works great, but eventually my pc goes link dead, there will be a little yellow apostrophe over the network icon down in the toolbar (next to the clock). I dont have to reboot anything except the BEFSR81 and then everything comes back up and runs fine for a few more hours.

I CONSTANTLY lose connection to the net .Then it takes forever to rejoin the net.I know this PC has ASUS Wireless Console 3 installed on it. I have, in the past, tried a few fixes offered on websites for suggestions when you lose wireless connection (i.e. Setting a static IP to connect to, turning on firewalls, etc.) none have worked.

I have a very well updated Laptop running XP well patched with IE7.I have run all the malware scans and there is nothing wrong on the PC.After exactly 10 minutes of the PC being on, wireless internet connection is lost, BUT:Signal Strength states "Excellent" I can't access any website at all on the web. (Except for "Facebook" for some odd reason?) I can't access it after the 10 minute mark but if I'm already on it, I can navigate thru it's site without being disconnected, don't ask me why I have tried the following:
- Dynamic and Static IP setting
- Turned on and off windows firewall and rebooted each time
- Ran all kinds of malware detection and virus scans
- Disabled power management on network card
- I've tried different PCs on the same network and they're fine
- Tried ipconfig release and renew
- Tried repair connection
- Tried netsh reset
- Tried FireFox and other browers
- Logging off and back in doesn't work, must restart the computer to get another 10 minutes

I have a home plug network that goes like this:ndy's Room is my room, that homeplug goes into a switch that splits out to my PC and a wireless access point. Office goes into the main router that the internet feeds into. The living room connects to the TV, Sky box and PS3.Occasionally, the link rate LED on my plugs will drop to orange

I've recently added a desktop pc to the home's wireless network (using a D-Link DWA-125 Wireless N 150 USB adapter rev.A2) and it used to play nicely with the other devices. After switching out the router to an Actiontec V1000H my computer has begun losing most connectivity when the PS3 is turned on.
The pc still sees the network and there is a little activity there it seems. Everything runs fine when the PS3 is off and in the Wireless Network Connection Status display the speed is usually listed at 65-75 Mbps. But when the PS3 is turned on it reads 6.5 Mbps with the IPv4 connectivity bouncing between "internet" and "limited". Windows' automatic diagnosis is "Cannot communicate with DNS server".
I tried assigning static IP addresses to the pc and ps3 thinking there was a possible IP conflict with the dynamic addresses. Thinking there could be a conflict with ports I read up on port forwarding but my knowledge of networking is limited and I'm not even sure if that is the problem.
There are alot of other devices connected, 2 laptops, 2 iPod touches an iPhone the PS3 and now this old desktop clunker. I figure it's possible that the router is getting overloaded with everything and the PS3 just pushes my computer's bandwidth out the window but I would think that there would be some noticable drop in performance on the other laptops as well, which there hasn't.

I'm having is that every few hours my TCP/IP protocol stops working. The modem lights remain normal but I can't connect to anything. The only thing that works on the internet is traceroutes at the command prompt which function normally. The solution is that I have to reboot and then everything returns to normal until a few hours later when it happens again. There are no error messages on any of my browsers. The page just goes white immediately. When I try to retrieve my email, I get a message about the TCP/IP isn't working.

I am having problems with my Netgear wireless moderm/router DGNG3700. since getting home tonight my internet connection has dropped out 3 times. The moderm /router is only 2weeks old and I have rang the Netgear technical support 4 times. The man I spoke to tonight said they are having trouble with this model and he told me to get the DGNG3700 version 2. I have changed the configerations and am very frustrated with the whole thing. Should I get a different Model altogether.

The SSID will no longer be broadcast, however, the computers that are wired are still connected.I currently have the E3 hardware version, plus 5.10 firmware on the router

Every few hours, the WAN just shuts off. If you were connected to it when this happens, you cannot reconnect until you have reset the router; you can't even find the SSID. If you were not connected when this happens, you can connect just fine. This happens with all devices in the house, my laptop, my DAP-1522, my cell phone, and my brother's Mac (SMH, sometimes I think we aren't related...). I am running version 2.00NA on B1 firmware.

If the vlans that the VPN SPA was trunked you would Every 18-24 hours the 6500's- the 6500 go to 100 % CPU.Simple design GRE IPSEC tunnels that work fine and the latest SXI code. We've got a central office (actually quite small) where several IPSec connections connect to. Two of these connections are Cisco 881 routers. One of them works fine, the other craps out after 24 hours (coincidentally also the IKE key lifetime). When I mean "craps out", it means the VPN worked fine from the get go, until 24 hours later. Only a reload will bring back the VPN tunnel. I've verified my PFS and DPD configurations are solid, because these kind of symptoms would most likely occur when these configurations aren't in order.
The two 881 configurations are quite similar. The only differences between the two are some details in the PPPoE configurations and (quite obviously) the IP address space for the two sites. Both operate on the premise of a point to point connection (no multipoint stuff going on here).

About every 20 minutes, my internet connection, which otherwise runs well, just drops out randomly. When I diagnose the problem, it tells me "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (50.30.208.77)." If I leave it alone, it corrects itself after a couple of minutes, but I can also reset the local area connection and that will get things working again as well. This started a few days ago, and I was hoping it would just go away, but it has not. To reiterate, my connection is fine for about 20 minutes at a time, but then it will just drop out for seemingly no reason. I don't use wi-fi, I'm connected via an ethernet cable to an outlet on my wall. I've tried different cables and the problem persists, so I don't believe it has to do with a faulty cable. I didn't change anything about my hardware or software the day this problem sprung up. [code]

For over a year there was no issue with the wireless router, then all of a sudden the connection was lost even though the signal was strong. When trying to figure out what was wrong, I accidentally reset the router. I had not used one before, so I am not too knowledgeable. The router had been my previous roommate's, who had set up the password, etc and I had been using it with that set-up, but now I had no password. I tried to reconfigure and set up a new password through the D-Link administrator, but could not get it to work. It is a D-Link DIR-655 and I am using an iMac. I finally just bought an Ethernet cable and plugged in directly, since I had no password protection. But even with the cable plugged in, I will lose the connection and have to restart the router to get it back - which has even happened while I am using the internet.

We are a small business with about 9 Macbook pros and 3 PC's connected wirelessly to the router. The Mac-computers sometimes lose their wifi-connection to the router. When this happens they have to select the wifi network again from the menu, to reestablish their internet connection. For some of the clients, this happens about once each day and for others multiple times a day. The problem doesn't seem to appear on the PC's.
I have tried to solve the problem by making DHCP reservations for each computers MAC-address, but with no luck. I also tried to set the 802.11 Mode to 'Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g', and turning WISH off. I read that the connection can be disturbed, if other wifi-networks in the area uses the same channel, so I changed it to channel 3, based on a scan of the network, where 3 appeared to be the least used. The WPA Mode is set to 'WPA-2 Only' and Cipher type is 'TKIP and AES'
The Dir-655 is hardware version B1 and the firmware is 2.0.

We are having several workstations that are momentarily losing connection to our Windows Server 2008 machine that hosts their Documents etc.It seems like a momentary disconnection and not everyone has complained although I'm guessing that unless you are trying to locate a file etc at that moment you might not notice. Here is the error message I see in the event logs on the server:
-Source: srv
-EventID: 2012
-Level: Warning
While transmitting or receiving data, the server encountered a network error. Occassional errors are expected, but large amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration. The error status code is contained within the returned data (formatted as Words) and may point you towards the problem. So, where would you guys start with something like this? Either my HP Procurve 1800-24G doesn't have much in the way of error logs, or I don't know where to look.Would you start with changing port on the switch, changing network cable or do you think it's more likely to be something on the server itself?
