D-link Dir-655 :: Clients Lose Wifi Connection To It?
Jan 20, 2012
We are a small business with about 9 Macbook pros and 3 PC's connected wirelessly to the router. The Mac-computers sometimes lose their wifi-connection to the router. When this happens they have to select the wifi network again from the menu, to reestablish their internet connection. For some of the clients, this happens about once each day and for others multiple times a day. The problem doesn't seem to appear on the PC's.
I have tried to solve the problem by making DHCP reservations for each computers MAC-address, but with no luck. I also tried to set the 802.11 Mode to 'Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g', and turning WISH off. I read that the connection can be disturbed, if other wifi-networks in the area uses the same channel, so I changed it to channel 3, based on a scan of the network, where 3 appeared to be the least used. The WPA Mode is set to 'WPA-2 Only' and Cipher type is 'TKIP and AES'
The Dir-655 is hardware version B1 and the firmware is 2.0.

I can't able to recognize a system - all wifi clients lose connection. When this happens, the ping answer time rech the ~2000 times, then totally lose the connection, the SSID is dissapear - checking with my phone (android - wifi analyzer) and TL-WN822N USB wifi adapter (with the inSSIDer application). Meanwhile the cable clients and the WAN connections works fine, didn't experience anything. If I restart the wifi service with the hardware on/off button, it runs well for some time. This problem appeared when I used the two older official firmware too.
I tried the auto-chanel function width auto channel width, tried to manually set up one of the less interfered channels with both 20MHz and 40MHz channel width, but none of them bring the solution. The intresting thing is, if I change the router with an old D-Link DI-604, the signal is weak, but the wifi connection is stable, with the same TL-WN822N adapter.I tried to guarantee the router, but after two weeks, my reseller said, it looks ok, they - at the TP-Link service - didn't find anything.
We have a 3750G 12S that is connected to its clients with 1000 Mb SFPs. On the switch is a simple Vlan all the ports are assigned to. The ports are auto-sensing gig connection speed and full duplex when I run the show interface command. What happens is that if a client workstation is restarted or shut down and powered back up, the client cannot reconnect to the switch unless we cycle the switch itself (power off and back on)I know only the very basics of switch configuring and finding it difficult to source any trouble shooting info on issues like this.
I have a very well updated Laptop running XP well patched with IE7.I have run all the malware scans and there is nothing wrong on the PC.After exactly 10 minutes of the PC being on, wireless internet connection is lost, BUT:Signal Strength states "Excellent" I can't access any website at all on the web. (Except for "Facebook" for some odd reason?) I can't access it after the 10 minute mark but if I'm already on it, I can navigate thru it's site without being disconnected, don't ask me why I have tried the following:
- Dynamic and Static IP setting - Turned on and off windows firewall and rebooted each time - Ran all kinds of malware detection and virus scans - Disabled power management on network card - I've tried different PCs on the same network and they're fine - Tried ipconfig release and renew - Tried repair connection - Tried netsh reset - Tried FireFox and other browers - Logging off and back in doesn't work, must restart the computer to get another 10 minutes
We have DIR-615, almost 18 months old, we must occasionally reboot because it APPEARS that the device has had its certificate expire. We tried changinf the tomeout expire to 999999 no luck.
I have a DIR-825 router series b, with firmware 2.05NA.My desktop is running vista 64Bit.I want to use my xbox 360 as a media center.I lose my connection between my xbox and my computer whenever the xbox is turned off. I can connect, and it works well, but only after I uninstall the extender from Media Center, then restart my computer. Then it sees the xbox on the network. I then have to set up a new connection. This is done over wireless N using the 5ghz band. The connection holds until my xbox is turned off. Then when I turn it back on it does not see the connection to the Media Center.
I updated the new firmware (my previous firmware was 2.02NA). I updated to 2.06, but then went back to see if that would make a difference and it didn't. The xbox can connect to xbox live and the internet (netflix etc...) but it does not see the home network to allow me to stream media between the computer and the xbox.I have disabled the firewall on my PC, I have disabled SPI, and do not have any other firewalls running on the network.
I have an RV220W running firmware 1.0.4.17. I have a couple of wireless laptop users that connect to the wireless without problems, but frequently cannot access the Internet. They can always access local network resources, but for some reason when laptops are first powered up or are idle for a prolonged period of time, Internet access is lost. Wired clients never experience this problem and always maintain local network and Internet connectivity.
To get the laptops to access the Internet over wireless, we have to run a TRACERT command from the command prompt to a public IP address, and then all Internet access is restored.
I've just upgraded my home wireless from an NetComm NB5540 + modem to a LinkSys X3000.Internet access works fine for all devices, but some wireless devices can't "see" my Win7 desktop system that's on a wired connections to the router. Galaxy Note phone (running ICS 4.0.4) can discover and connect to file shares on my desktop system without any problems.Asus Transformer Prime tablet (running JellyBean 4.1.1) can see the router on the local network, but can't see my desktop. Even if I manually type in the IP address it can't connect to itLikewise my old WinXP laptop can see the router but can't see or connect to any other devices.
I tried connecting the NetComm router with just Wifi configured to one of the ethernet ports on the X3000, so I've got two Wifi networks running in parallel. If I connect to this second WiFi network with any of the above devices then they can all discover and connect to my desktop system on the wired connection to the X3000.

We are trying to use a TL-WR941ND purchased about a month ago, but it keeps hanging, usually within a day or so of operation. To be clear: by "hanging" I mean the device stops providing wireless services (its SSID is no longer visible in WiFi clients) and becomes nonresponsive to pings or control access attempts (via settings web page) from the internal network connections. The device is used in a very simple scenario, where it's being employed as a simple access point, not as a router. As such, the device's configuration is as follows:
* WAN interface is configured with a dummy static IP (10.10.10.10/24) with gateway and DNS set to the internal IP address of the actual routing device connected to the external world. * LAN interface is configured with an IP address inside the actual internal IP subnet (192.168.1.0/24). * DHCP is also disabled as this service is already provided. * Wireless settings: radio enabled, SSID broadcast enabled, WDS disabled, 11bgn mixed mode, auto channel width, max TX rate, channel 7 (manually set). Using WPA-PSK security.
Rest of the settings are unchanged from their default values, as the device isn't being used as an IP router by any client - just as a WiFi/Ethernet layer 2 bridge. We're using what appears to be TP-Link's latest stock firmware for the device. The settings described above appear to provide the connectivity required by the WiFi clients. However, the device continuously hangs within a day or so of operation, requiring someone to physically attend to the device and cold-restarting it (disconnecting it from power and reconnecting it) to regain an operational state.
After performing a cold restart, the system log shows nothing beyond the startup entries: "System started" entry followed by security info entries regarding enabled protocols. Then the device appears to work well for a while, until it hangs again, forcing again someone to attend to the device, etc.
Every time I boot up my computer, everything will be working fine for about 5 -10 minutes, but after this, all my browsers will lose connection to the Internet. All of them: IE, firefox, chrome, even the steam browser, all of them just lose connection. The weird thing is, my net connection is perfectly fine: I can still play online games, still use online chat services, still open and use programs like utorrent. It's like something is just blocking all my browser connections. When I run a network troubleshooter, it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Corporation: Software, Smartphones, Online, Games, Cloud Computing, IT Business Technology, Downloads) is not responding."I googled this and came across some apparent fixes like flushing and re-registering my dns and restarting my modem, niether of which has worked. In addition, this problem is showing up on two totally separate shared networks and has only affected my computer. Other netwworked devices, like friends/families computers and my iPhone (which I am using to type this) work fine.
I have taken on a new client who has the following setup, BT Infinity, Vigorpro 5510, and SBS 2011 server. I was involved with unpacking and seting up the equipment to get client up and running. I have never setup a firewall before, and after contacting Draytek, they guided to get BT infinity, 5510 to talk so that the server was able to get onto the internet. The setup was then left in its default state. All was fine until lately, the client keeps losing internet approx same time most days.My problem is how do i get the 5510 properly configured to talk to BT infinity, and sbs 2011. I always get lost when it come to playing with IP address. Also the client has a fixed IP address supplier by BT, so want to know how to setup the vigorpro with this address. [code]
I lose internet connection every day in the same time etc.i lose it in 2pm and i get it in 7.pm and tomarow again lose it in 2pm get it in 7pmit is not virus i have cleaned every infection whit Malwarebytes,Emsisoft,Hitmanpro,SuperAntispyware and Spybot
I CONSTANTLY lose connection to the net .Then it takes forever to rejoin the net.I know this PC has ASUS Wireless Console 3 installed on it. I have, in the past, tried a few fixes offered on websites for suggestions when you lose wireless connection (i.e. Setting a static IP to connect to, turning on firewalls, etc.) none have worked.
If I do a factory reset on a router, does that mean the computers on the LAN will not be able to access the Internet?but then the router will configure it's self automatically to re-allow connection ?
So i setup an Asus RTN66U router with an HP 1800 24 port switch. Ive got 2 PC's,xbox, cablebox, and wii(wireless).about every 5 minutes or so, it seems I lose connection. Its very apparant when I play BF3 cause it will close the game and say connection with server timed out.My question is how should I troubleshoot this. How do i pinpoint router, switch, or modem or something im missing.
We are having several workstations that are momentarily losing connection to our Windows Server 2008 machine that hosts their Documents etc.It seems like a momentary disconnection and not everyone has complained although I'm guessing that unless you are trying to locate a file etc at that moment you might not notice. Here is the error message I see in the event logs on the server:
-Source: srv -EventID: 2012 -Level: Warning
While transmitting or receiving data, the server encountered a network error. Occassional errors are expected, but large amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration. The error status code is contained within the returned data (formatted as Words) and may point you towards the problem. So, where would you guys start with something like this? Either my HP Procurve 1800-24G doesn't have much in the way of error logs, or I don't know where to look.Would you start with changing port on the switch, changing network cable or do you think it's more likely to be something on the server itself?
Just installed a DIR-615, not impressed so far I have 3 clients, a Windoze 7 laptop, a Kubuntu workstation (wireless N) and a wireless HP printer. When I enable DHCP reservations and reserve the addresses then save settings the router reboots and when I go back in all info is gone and nothing is reserved. I have been having weird disconnection issues - I lose my internet periodically for no apparent reason so I increased the lease time and am trying to reserve addresses.
I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop all connected to the same router, the 2 laptops are connected via wifi and the desktop PC is currently connected via an Ethernet cable, both laptops run windows 7 while the desktop runs windows XP and more or less every time the desktop is booted after a few minutes of normality connection to the internet is lost and the yellow triangle on windows 7 appears so to fix this I have to go into my routers settings via 192.168.1.1 and reboot which then solves the problem and all machines function as they should including the desktop.
I do love your products and I am not just sucking your *beep*, but could you please update the firmware on this modem (DPC 3008). There are a lot of people that are having issues with losing their internet connection when it comes to this modem. It doesn't matter who the ISP is, doesn't matter what we try to do to fix this. I read somewhere that after you updated the firmware in 2011 on this modem is when your customers starting having issues. Now I just bought this modem a few weeks ago so I don't know for sure. All I can say is if this issue doesn't get resolved, I am going to smash the *beep* out of it and never recommend your products to anyone as well as never purchase another product from you. I like you I really do, but I am tried of losing my internet connection when I am playing my games or watching movies. People have stated that they removed your modem for a different brand and their issues were resolved. I am giving you a chance to show me that you value your customers and you will resolve this issue in a timely manner
There is going to be 2 computer and a router each with there own static public ip address (ie 68.x.x.x range) The issue i am running in to is getting the netgear set up correctly, every time i disable the dhcp server on the netgear and set up all 3 devices with the static ips i lose internet connection. If i leave the set work set up as dhcp on the lan side and keep the wan static ip it all works fine.

I'm using a 3020 to bridge 3/4G to the ethernet port on my computer. Things work fine until I also join wireless hosts (like an iPhone or iPad). The routing of traffic to both the ethernet and wireless hosts seems to cause the 3/4G router to lose the signal and disconnect all hosts. I'm using a Verizon LG USB wifi device that is on the compatible list of 3/4G devices. I'm using the latest version of the firmware on the 3020 (I believe the date is Sep 2012).
I got a new router, a Cisco Linksys EA3500, and everything works fine and no one else in my family notices anything. Everything works and I don't have trouble accessing the internet and I always get 5 bars, but whenever I play a game online it will disconnect me after a while. Sometimes it disconnects me after 5 minutes and sometimes after 30 minutes. The only games I play are Arma 2 and Garry's mod and I have the same problem with both games. The weird thing is that I talk to friends on steam when we are playing and it doesn't get disconnected I can hear them fine, and my internet access bar at the lower right doesn't say I'm disconnected. Streaming and downloading work as well. I have no idea what to do, we got a new router because the old one was faulty and we called our isp and they said there was nothing wrong on their end it.
N600DB - Currently configured with primary computer hardwired to router, 1 laptop via WiFi, a Network booster used by iPhone/iPads and every time I wake the primary computer I get the Router Monitor alert that my internet connection has failed. By the way, I am currently using the primary computer to post this and the Belkin Router Monitor still says my "internet connection has failed" and An Internet connection cannot be established at this time. Re-booting your router may solve this problem, but you will temporarily lose your connection during the reboot.
I have two 2960s that periodically lose connection for just a few Seconds. If I run a continuous ping from a workstation the connection never drops but as soon as I kill the ping command I will start losing the connection again. All cables test fine tried different switch ports nothing seems to work. No errors in log file either.
Lose internet connection at least once a day. Each time regaining by unplugging power cord for approx. 10-12 seconds. Is this a router failure and maybe needs replacing or ?
we have a WLC 4404, Software Version 4.2.61.0 and the following Problem. The WLC worked for many years with the SSID "SKHGR". In addition to the existing SSID I have a second SSID "SKHGR-M" is created. The configuration of the two SSID's is identical.
The problem is: when I activate the second SSID, the AP losing connection with the WLC. In the log appears"AP disassociated. ... Base Radio" and " "not advertising ssid due to radio policy". The AP's connect with the WLC, lose after few seconds the contact.
I have been using a Linksys E3000 router for a few months now. Love it. But this last week, when ever I wake my monitor up after it's power saving mode kicks in, I lose my internet connection for about 15 seconds. If you look at the router before the monitor is on, I am connected. The light is on for port 1. But as soon as my monitor gets turned back on, it light just turns off and will reconnect after about 15 seconds. I've looked it up online and can only find things about when the entire system wakes up, and usually those people have to reboot their entire system to get a connection again, or turn the router off then back on. Using Windows 7?
I have a disconnecting problem with my WRT120N (Linksys) wireless router. Sometimes all wireless devices lose the connection to the internet, and the access to the router administration page (192.168.1.1) becomes impossible. In this case LEDs of power, internet and wireless are lighting without flashing. This problem usually occurs every 48 hour, and there was no way to make a reconnection except turning the router off by unplugging the power wire and plug it again…
I hope find a solution for this problem here
Other question: are there any problems in Firmware Version: v1.0.04
I have a WAG160N with firmware V1.00.16 (version 1 device). The router is connected via ethernet to my main iMac running Lion 10.7.2, although the issue's I'm having have occurred for some time before upgrading to Lion or its's latest update.Firstly, devices I connect to the router wirelessly such as my iPad and iPhone will allow me to use the internet on said devices for about ten minute then the internet will simply stop. The device is shown as connected (checking the wifi settings on iPad etc show the router is still seen). If I switch WI-FI off on the device, then back on, internet is restored. It's not an internet provider issue as I can use the net all day on my ethernet-connected iMac without a problem. My printer is connected to my iMac via USB and shared with other devices. It is seen on my Macbook which connects wirelessly via the router. If I try to print from the macbook, the print job will not progress until I re-start the router. Likewise, there are applications that I sync between my ipad and iMac via iTunes with my mac connected via the USB cable. The iPad will not bee seen by the iMac unless I re-start the router. My Apple TV will only sync wirelessly with the iMac if I re-start the router.
I am running winsxp prodessional.I have a belkin N600 DB Wireless N+ Router and it is hooked up to a vmax 480 security syestem . this system allows me to see the cameras remotely on my ipad, i iphone amd laptop .
my problem is this the router shuts down and restarts( it must be programmed to do this ) and i lose the remote connection to the cameras. if i am home i can unplug the vmax and it will restart and find the router etc however when i am traveling i can not do this.
