Netgear N300 - Configuring Extender And Router For Limited Access

Mar 26, 2013

I have a Netgear N300 and am using a linksys wrtg54g flashed with dd-wrt as an extender. I would like to setup my wireless network to limit various devices (laptops, iPod touch, etc) to certain times of the day.

How do I configure both devices to limit connectivity? I've got it down pretty much on the NetGear using a MAC address filter and scheduling the services, but I am not sure how to get the extender to do the same.

Belkin Routers :: No Access To Internet Via A N300 Wi-Fi Extender?

Mar 10, 2013

My N300 Wifi Range Extender does not let me connect to Internet. I can access other systems connected on the main WIfi network, but I cannot access Internet.I observe as well that all systems connected to the Extender appear, from the main Wifi network, having the same Mac address. I believe that my ISP (Telenet) does not accept that, and that this is the reason I cannot connect to Internet. Is there any way to change that behaviour ?

Wireless :: Netgear N300 Internet Access Is Disconnected

Oct 10, 2011

I got 3 windows 7 pc's at home. IP V6 and IP 4 are enabled. I setup my wireless system and it worked 100%. After 3 months I add a LAN cable to two of my PC's. This is when it all started. My internet browsing became very very slow. When i shutdown the one machine it become fast again. I did the following. Pulled the LAN cable and it was still slow. I then put the cable back and disabled the Wi-Fi and it still was very slow. I rested the defaults and restored my old backup and it still slow. Now I can get any access to the internet any more. I the disconnected the netgear router and take a cheap router with only LAN ports and it work 100%. All the above i did with many router and server reboots.

Belkin N300 Router - Wireless Download Speed Limited?

Dec 4, 2012

I have a Belkin N300 router. When a computer is hard-wired to the router, I get about 26Mbps, but all of the wireless devices in my house are limited to about 56kbps. I tried logging into the router to see if there was something "choking" the connection speed, but nothing really jumped out at me. Is there a setting of some kind that could be causing this?

I do have a signal repeater since my house is so big, but there is nothing within those controls that would seem to have that kind of effect either.

Switches :: New Netgear N300 Router Will Not Connect

Jan 29, 2011

I just bought a new Netgear N300 router to go along with the Mediacom cable internet I just signed up for. I can plug the ethernet cable straight from the modem into my computer and get internet. Unfortunately this only works after I run the windows diagnostic to correct the errors that wont allow me internet access (unable to connect to IP address, lack of DNS server) but eventually I get access. The instruction then tell me to run the ethernet from the modem to the router and then another cable to my computer from the router. When I do this, I lose all internet access. I thought I just had to instal the router using the provided disk but it never gets past the internet connection test.I have tried to provide the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns servers like requested but clearly I am messing something up.

Netgear WNDR3700 Router - Using Wi-Fi Extender / Different Band With Same Network SSID?

Jul 7, 2011

I have basically the following setup: It's a home network, running with a Netgear WNDR3700 wireless router.

Wireless Devices on the Network:
Google Nexus One: 802.11 b/g/n
iPhone (Original): 802.11 b/g
Main Workstation Laptop: 802.11 a/b/g
"Beater/Other" Laptop: 802.11g b/g

Ethernetted devices on the network:
Logitech Revue: CAT-5e

I'm running both the 2.4 GHz and the 5.0 GHz networks over the same SSID. The goal, obviously, is to get everything over to N if possible. I've heard that wireless N has much better signal and transfer rates, is this true? Also, is running the two different frequencies with the same SSID problematic? It's kind of strange, because my Nexus One is having a difficult time staying connected to the network in my office while the main workstation laptop in the same room is getting a much better signal.

[Code]....

What's interesting is that both are running on the 2.4 GHz networks, essentially both not on the wireless n network, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of things. Is it bad to run both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks with the same SSID? If using a network repeater, is it bad to rebroadcast the original network with the same SSID as the source network? It seems that the 5.0 GHz network is getting "clobbered" by the 2.4 GHz network. Is it really necessary for me to broadcast using different SSIDs?

How To Set Up A Netgear N300 Router For A Closed Home Wireless Network

Apr 8, 2012

We operate a home office network (workgroup) of 6 older PCs running Windows XP SP3.It's a Windows based network using a designated "home" PC as a server, and until recently we were using ethernet cables and a hub/switch for sharing files which worked well because we only share small document files, no music or video. The workgroup does not have a shared internet connection, we don't want or need one for what we do, although the individual PC's can connect to the web using USB dongles just for checking e-mail.Recently the ethernet hub died and I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to wireless file sharing.None of the PCs have inbuilt wireless adapters so I bought a D-Link USB wireless adapter for each PC.I also bought a Netgear N300 router, thinking that this was suitable entry level equipment for wireless file sharing. Now I'm not so sure.So far I was unable to install the router on the "home" PC because the installation CD seems to assume that the router will be used for sharing an internet connection and does not seem to offer an installation option without a standalone modem. How to install this type of router to create a closed home wireless network without a shared internet connection.

Print From HP LJ P1006 Wirelessly When Hookup To Netgear N300 Router?

Dec 23, 2012

I recently bought a practically brand new HP LJ P1006 with an extra brand new HP brand toner cartridge for $1 at a local auction. I have tested it, and it works perfectly, so all is fine there. I would like to know if it is possible to print wirelessly to it at all. I do not have it hooked up to a computer right now, we only have two laptops, so there is not a desktop to have it hooked up to in order to put it on a home network (I believe that is how that works).

I do have a Netgear N300 router with a USB port however, and I was thinking I may be able to do something there.

Is it possible to hook this printer into my router via USB and then be able to print to it from our latptops? If so, how would we go about setting that up to do so?

Netgear N300 Router / Windows 7 - Setting Up Network Drive

I'm trying to get one of my hard drives to be available on the network, so I went to the "sharing" tab of the HD's properties setting and allowed sharing on the HD and turned off password protection so that you don't need a password to access the HD.I also set the permissions to give full control, change, and read access to the "Everyone" group.

From another computer in the network, I tried connecting to the network HD but ultimately got "Access denied" despite the fact that I gave full control to "Everyone".How do I get the computer to be able to connect to the shared HD?

Netgear N300 / Cisco 2950 - Port Forwarding With No Router

Jul 9, 2013

I have been having problems with my router. I have a Net gear N300 v2, but I am not asking for support with said router. Forwarding network traffic from the Internet to a server and then have it properly re-routed. I have never done this sorta thing before, but I want to go into a career in I.T. when I'm older. As a side note, I have already figured out that ditching the router requires to have a software DHCP server, which I am using Windows Server 2008 Data center and it's built in role as DHCP server.

DNS is also configured. The modem a Motorola Surf Board is connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst 2950, and that connects all of the rest of the network, also via a 3Com SUper Stack Hub, and a little 8-port HP Advance Stack J2610A, which connects to all of my wireless AP.

Nearly every morning/evening I have to re-boot my router to get internet access. Netgear N300 ADSL2+ modem router Model DGN 2200 (had about a year), Windows 7 64bit Home premium Laptop connected wirelessly, Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium desktop connected by LAN cable. ISP BT Internet. Until recently this set up has been working OK with occasional loss of interent access and need to re-boot router. The internet light has been showing red on those occasions. Over the last two weeks I have found that when I turn one of computers on although all lights on router are green I have no internet access. I have to re-boot, then all is OK until the next day when I have to re-boot again. My phone line appears OK with no noise on line, no reported problems on BT broadband staus. The thing that puzzles me is that the lights are all green on the router yet my networking icon on the pc shows an exclammation mark and 'no internet access' and I do not have access to net.The wireless connection is OK with excellent strength.
