View 2 RepliesHaving a serious problem with my PC type Dell Vostro 460Where the network card is not recognized from time to timeBut when I disconnect the power supply or when re-Rest Bios
Sometimes network card appearThe operating system I have Windows 8 Enterprise
I have a dell vostro 3350. I use it with both Windows and Linux OS (Mint, Ubuntu).
Recently I faced an issue with my motherboard (I guess it was a matter of short-circuit) so I called the Dell assistance and they quickly came out and substitute my motherboard. After that intervention, my wi-fi and figerprint reading stopped working at all. So I called again Delle assistance and they substituted both the wi-fi and the fingerprint reader. Everything seemed to work fine... since my PC went in hibernate mode.
In fact now the wi-fi card is disabled (not even seen by the OS) after the PC goes in sleep/hibernate mode or even if it is turned off and than on again. I need to turn off and on the PC at least one more time the PC in order to make the wi-fi card found (and working) again.
I checked with all the three OS I have in my PC so I guess the issue isn't related to the drivers. On the other hand, it looks like the wi-fi works totally fine... when it works. It is quite a systematic effect and not related to bumps or mechanical sullicitations, so I guess it is not a matter of wrongly-connected card either..
I have 10 Vostro 460s, the network cards are not being found on startup. You have to reboot the systems 3-4 times to get Windows to find the Network cards. All drivers are up to date. This may be related to a Windows update, since the machine were fine for a month or so until an Update came out.
View 95 Replies View RelatedWell I'm typing from my tablet right now because for the 20th+ time, the Centrino 1030 card on my Vostro 3450 isn't connecting to hotel's wireless. Other places I have encountered it to have connection problems is colleges, universities, coffee shops, etc. It is also slow as molasses in my home too.
I have read other posts indicating similar problems without resolutions on the Vostro 3450. I am planning on replacing it with the BEST WLAN card there is. It seems a bit labor intensive from the service manual but doable. Has there been any "for sure" fix with the 1030 card?
The 1030 card is so incredibly bad that I am able to get 3/5 bars on my home network being outside while my Vostro can't even pick it up.
I have a 1395 Wlan mini-card in my dell vostro 1510 version A21 and it has stopped allowing internet access. it says limited or no access and when i ran the connection diagnostices it failed the authentication.last time the software was update was october 6, 2008.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a network setup (n only) with a bunch of devices wireless and wired. I've got in my PC an Asus PCE-N53 wifi card (comp isn't close enough to modem), and using it and speedtest.net I get speeds up to 40mbps (rarely, at average around 28-33mbps). When I test on a wired PC or on my brother's surface pro, I get from 60-80mbps. I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong with the asus card. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, switching PCI slots, different system and it's still the same.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Vostro 460 desktop, recently bought, and then realized it would be better to add wireless router. Bought router and a PCIe wireless mini card that was suggested for my PC on Dell order site. The card arrived and am trying to install. The end plate with the aerial socket is not compatible with the removable access blanks in rear of case. Have I been sent an incorrect or unsuitable card, or is there some trick or adapting needed to install this card?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently performed a windows 7 update and when I opened my computer the next morning, the wifi wouldn't work. All the other computers in the house work, but this one. The switch is turned on, have checked device manager and NOTHING is listed there. The green light won't even come on when the switch is activated. I am not computer literate, but have resorted to everything except cleaning the system and rebooting. I am currently using a usb wifi adapter?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a very basic version of XP on my old laptop (Gateway MT3707).After hours of searching for the correct drivers, I found them, and installed them. After installing the correct drivers for wireless internet I was able to pull up the list and find my network on it.When double clicking on our wireless network it asks for a network key (also called WEP key or WPA key). Now we have a password for our network, but after an exhausting amount of tries that won't work. I not sure if that is what its looking for. In our apartment we run mac OSX, windows vista, etc., but usually the password for the network is satisfactory. I have never ran into this problem.I hate to be a noob, but I don't know where to go from here.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving some serious problems on the networking front here at home. I have 3 PC's and 2 Xbox's that run constantly. Our Internet bandwidth is Insight's 50.0 which is 50Mb download speed 5Mb upload speed. The problem we're having is this. Ever since we upgraded from dual 20Mb lines on a Cisco RV042 to a 50Mb on a DIR-655 we've been having latency issues. I have everything turned off in the router. It's basically there to give out IP numbers and thats it. All security is handled from the PC's themselves. Bandwidth tests are fine, I sustain download speeds above 7MB/s using download managers. But pings are terrible. Xbox live is terrible, PC online gaming is terrible. Pingtest.com is terrible. Only when behind routers. I've tried it behind 3 seperate routers. The DIR-655, the Belkin f5d8236 that insight provided me, and the cisco rv042 originally used for dual wan routing. all of which are met with serious failure.
If I plug directly in to the modem pings are fine. Add a router and pings go to shit.
I bought one from outlet. It has WiMax as an option. It seems it has WiMax, but I can' see any wifi device in Device manager. It is ridiculous. I surprised so I checked my order confirmation e-mail again and again, but it reads "Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6150", not WiMax only.
View 17 Replies View RelatedBought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently received the blue screen and had to do a clean install of Windows XP on my Dell Vostro 1520. I then proceeded to install the Dell drivers and downloads in the order according to Dell's website. But the wireless driver continually gave me a Setup.rul 380 error, so I did a manual install of that. Unfortunately something is still incorrect. The internet connects, but the wireless icon at the bottom has a pop that says "Adapter Problem. Driver is not installed." I don't know a lot about computers and I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but I can't figure this one out.
