Nov 13, 2012I'm using a Dell Vostro, running Win Vista with all updates. I have Trend Micro Titanium and Comodo Firewall. I primarily use Firefox (completely updated) but also have IE 9. Until a few days ago I regularly connected to various public WIFIs, by: connecting to the WIFI network, opening Firefox which would then automatically take me the network's (Panera for example) user agreement page, clicking on "I accept" or "I agree" then gaining access to the internet. Two days ago I was at a local establishment where I have connected before. I connected to their network and opened Firefox as usual. Instead of connecting to their user agreement page as usual, Firefox tried to connect to my homepage (Washington Post) and failed.
The network icon in the sys tray showed I was connected to the local network but with local access only. This has now happened three times in three different public locations over the past 2 days. Each time I've successfully connect to the network but when opening Firefox or IE9 I am not directed to the user agreement page and therefore am not gaining access to the internet.Normally in the past once I had connected to the local network and opened my browser Comodo would open a warning window asking me if I wished to continue. This also is no longer happening as Comodo is not detecting me being connected to the internet, I'm sure.

Jun 29, 2012I have a strange problem with my Linksys E1000. When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.

Jul 2, 2012So, I have TalkTalk broadband. For the past few years I have used the WiFi not connecting with the Yellow wire. But now I want to move a PC up stairs. I brought a longer White wire so it would reach from downstairs where it is plugged in to upstairs (if I just plug in modem in upstairs it will not connect) So this is the idea I have downstairs the phone that is plugged into another white wire extender that leads from the main plug in the wall. In that extender is the phone and the OTHER extender that leads upstairs to a room just above. The extender leading upstairs has the internet modem plugged into it. now the extender white wire from the other extender downstairs has one of those white square plugs. (the ones that go from the main socket and the phone and modem connects too) And that Square plug is where the modem is plugged into. BUT now this is the annoying part! it will not connect to the internet without being in the same plug as the phone downstairs!
