Nov 7, 2012I have an HP Compaq nc6220 that I just got up and running after an extended stint as a paperweight.It had previously worked great in terms of connecting to the internet via wireless.Now nothing.It let's me go into Wireless Network Setup Wizard and offers to let me set up new networks, etc...But as far as I can tell, it isn't detecting any networks (though they are all around me and detected on other computers) and giving me the option to log in.There is no "Device Manager" option that I can find on this computer, which some forum posts have suggested to other people with similar problems.

Jan 16, 2013I've been searching the Internet all day for drivers for this Notebook and have found most of them, but need two more. I can't get online.
It's a Windows XP Professional OS but I cannot get online without an Ethernet Controller driver, which I still haven't been able to find. I also need a Multimedia Audio Controller.
It's an old notebook but has hardly been used. The specs are as follows:
Intel[R] Pentium[R] M
processor 1.73Ghz
795 MHz,0.99 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
I still have the original Windows XP Professional disk find these two drivers? I've searched every HP Compaq driver site I could find to not avail.
Compaq Presario CQ60 Not Connecting To Wireless?
Sep 27, 2011I purchased a Netgear wireless box for my boyfriend a couple months back and we have just recently set it up. My iPad and laptop connect with no problem at all but his mother's computer, the Compaq, won't connect to the internet unless it's directly connected to the router/modem.
I've gone to the support section of the Netgear website and tried what they told me but I keep running into needing to log on to my router. The default password isn't working and neither is the one we tried to set up (really my bf tried to set one and somehow managed to screw up the whole thing; I just went to bed cause I was happy we even had wireless).

Apr 16, 2011I have a Compag Netbook (running Windows XP Home Edition) which will not connect to the internet, however the wireless icon in the tray is telling me that the signal strength is good and that i am connected but i cannot access any webpage. I know it is probably not the modem as we have another netbook in the house which connects no problem, as does our laptop so i'm figuring its something to do with the Compaq netbook??
I've had a look at some of the other queries regarding this on the site and note that you recommend 'ipconfig /all' results so you can gain a better understanding of what the problem might be, so here it is below

Feb 6, 2012My wireless on my computer won't hold a connection for any longer than 30 minutes. I've checked the drivers, the wireless router, and scanned for viruses (several times) but nothing seems to work. In the last three months, I think I only had one occasion where the connection remained stable for longer than an hour. It doesn't matter what router I use or where I am. It has to be my computer.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 and I have had it for about 6 months.

May 29, 2011I have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. Jul 2, 2012I recently moved and changed computers, but ive been trying to setup my Linksys WRT150N. I had one cable coming from the modem and into the port on the router labeled "internet" and then another cable coming from one of the router's ethernet ports, going into the PC.
I opened a browser and typed in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and got to the setup page. When I search for wifi using either my laptop or my droid, it shows that there is an excellent signal and will connect to it, but when I try to perform a task that would require internet, it says that there is no internet access.

Feb 26, 2013For awhile now I've been having an issue with my laptop connecting to the Internet. What happens is that when I power up my laptop and login, it doesn't connect to the Internet immediately. I have it set to automatically connect to the Internet. My wireless connection does appear when I click on the lower right icon that shows the wireless connection list of wireless networks near you.The only way that it will connect properly to the Internet is when I unplug my wireless router for 15 to 30 seconds and then plug the power back in to go through the process. Once I check the wireless icon, it finally does connect to the Internet. I hate having to keep on doing this because usually I have to go down steps in order to get to the router. Yet, when I connect to the Internet with my other laptop, it connects immediately to the Internet without having to do anything with the router. It puzzles me to why this is happening.

Jul 11, 2012When I try to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, I select the connection I want and it says it's connected.
However when I go to the wireless connection properties it is sending but not receiving and it won't connect to the internet. I went to the CMD and typed in IPCONFIG and get the message saying my "Media Not Connected."
I have pushed the green button on the router so my laptop can pick up the settings but it still won't connect. Also, I took my laptop to my friends house and was able to connect on their wireless.
I am on Windows Vista.

Jul 25, 2012I'm checking a mini laptop for a friend and found out that the wireless does not work on it. First I tried checking the button to activate it and it didn't work, even if the indicador says it's off/on it doesn't have an effect on the network adapter. The PC is running Windows 7 32-bit. I downloaded the Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter driver and tried reinstalling it. Funny thing is that the installation went smoothly but in the driver details the name of the driver shows the default Windows one, 3.0.0.14 I beleive. Tried again to install the driver since I thought it was a bad download or something but the same results. I've tried with the Atheros driver but the installer said that since the card is not present no drivers would be installed, so I assume that the model is the Ralink. So far the network card appears disabled on the network adapter window, and if I try to enable it, it remains disabled.
