View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my computer to our router with no success. Windows doesn't detect the wire when I plug it in, no matter which one I use. This has never been a problem before I recently installed Windows 7 HP.I had no wireless connection to the router either after I installed the new Windows, but following an answer to a remotely similar question in the forum fixed it ('scan for hardware changes' on "Realtek Wireless LAN" under Network Adapters in Device Manager)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have DIR-601 wireless router with two computers connected: Server (192.168.1.2) and Client (192.168.1.3 on Ethernet Port and 192.168.1.4 on Wireless)
I also use dlinkddns.com and my router's public IP is mapped as abc.dlinkddns.com.
In the router Virtual Server section, it is configured as:
Public Port: 3389 (for Remote Desktop)
Private Port: 3389
IP Address: 192.168.1.2 (server's IP)
I am expecting this to allow the client to access the server via windows Remote Desktop.
The current situation is:
- When wireless is on, the client can access the server's Remote Desktop
- When wireless is off and client is connected by wired Ethernet, the client cannot connect to the server's remote desktop. After timeout, the error msg is "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: ...".
- When the client is in another network, it can connect to the server through the Internet.
I am sure it's not the client's problem because it can access via wireless or remotely from another network. It's not the router's virtual server config problem for the same reasons. Will it be a bug in the router? (hardware version: B1, firmware version: 2.00NA).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wireless on my computer won't hold a connection for any longer than 30 minutes. I've checked the drivers, the wireless router, and scanned for viruses (several times) but nothing seems to work. In the last three months, I think I only had one occasion where the connection remained stable for longer than an hour. It doesn't matter what router I use or where I am. It has to be my computer.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 and I have had it for about 6 months.
I have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a 2wire modem/router to connect to the internet. However, the ethernet controller on my Dell 8400 has a ? by it in the device manager. I'm told by the Internet provider that I need to download a driver to allow the connection. Which driver do I download? My network interface is listed as a Integrated Gigabit Ethernet (Product code IN - SKU - 430-0742). I've gone to the driver download page on Dell's website and entered my service tag, but I still don't really know which driver is needed OR if it's even listed. Broadcom-Driver
R87461.EXE (8MB) - shows optional, so I'm not sure if this is correct or not. By the way, the operating system is Windows(r) XP Professional.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 mbps ethernet driver and now my computer wont connect to the internet. In fact, it doesnt even acknowledge that the ethernet chord is plugged in. I am running windows 7 and have had no problems for years now. Since ive had my PC for so long I decided it was time to update, now im at a loss of what to do. I am currently using my laptop to submit this post, as my PC is not a wifi enabled device. I recall having this problem back when I first had this computer made and found a resolution online, (cant seem to find the same site i used back then.) I recall that it had something to do with me using the command prompt. While i have been looking for an answer, I have tried the following with no avail:
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log press enter
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log press enter
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog press enter
Restart the computer after.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy home is about 20 years old. I want to pull out all the old phone wiring and replace it with CAT-5 cabling. I have several questions.
1) Is it likely the phone cable is loose in the walls, or is it typically tied down inside the walls? Therefore, can I use the phone cable to pull the CAT-5 (unterminated)?
2) I heard that fire code construction demands that holes in the wall joists be filled - is that true?
3) Any least invasive way to get CAT-5 around my home? I can pull to only a select few spots if it's very difficult.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I have TalkTalk broadband. For the past few years I have used the WiFi not connecting with the Yellow wire. But now I want to move a PC up stairs. I brought a longer White wire so it would reach from downstairs where it is plugged in to upstairs (if I just plug in modem in upstairs it will not connect) So this is the idea I have downstairs the phone that is plugged into another white wire extender that leads from the main plug in the wall. In that extender is the phone and the OTHER extender that leads upstairs to a room just above. The extender leading upstairs has the internet modem plugged into it. now the extender white wire from the other extender downstairs has one of those white square plugs. (the ones that go from the main socket and the phone and modem connects too) And that Square plug is where the modem is plugged into. BUT now this is the annoying part! it will not connect to the internet without being in the same plug as the phone downstairs!

I have assigned the netgear router a ip address 192.168.2.1, which is different from the linksys 192.168.1.1 I have also turned off DHCP on the netgear. The wireless network from the linksys is called NETWORK1 and the wireless network on the netgear is called NETWORK2 When I connect to the netgear using a cable the internet works. However I cannot get an internet connection through the netgear's wireless network.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.
