Feb 17, 2012I can't connect to modem after reinstalling windows xp. i have tried resetting the modem, typing in 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.264, homeportal, gateway.2wire.net, etc. but can't reach modem.

May 11, 2011I've had a 2Wire gateway that I got from AT&T for about 5 years. Although I've seen terrible reviews for 2Wire, I've had pretty good luck with this one. Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. Tech support says that it's most likely the power adapter.As I understand, most what are called modems or routers today are a combination of these two, is that right? I see them in stores ranging from $30 to $200 or more, and they all say they do the same thing - almost identical wording. If it turns out that my adapter is good, what should I be looking for?

I have assigned the netgear router a ip address 192.168.2.1, which is different from the linksys 192.168.1.1 I have also turned off DHCP on the netgear.The wireless network from the linksys is called NETWORK1 and the wireless network on the netgear is called NETWORK2 When I connect to the netgear using a cable the internet works. However I cannot get an internet connection through the netgear's wireless network.

He wants to connect one to the internet in a home. The other would go out to his shop and he would like to get the internet out there too. He would also like to access the internet wirelessly with a laptop at either end. He has a wireless laptop setup and it works. The shop is line of sight with the home with no obstacles. A wire will not be able to connect one wireless router with the other due to terrain features. His laptop can get the internet from the Linksys (the Linksys is set up in the home) while he is in part of the shop, and he is trying to increase the range so that he can move to another part of the shop.

i just got a new TP Link TL-MR3040 V1.0.While setting up the router page on wireless and saw the firmware is an old version 3.12.11 build 120328 ref. 63398.Did a check on the TP link site and there is a new firmware update TL-MR3040_V1_120822.I have downloaded the new firmware but dont know how to do it. Read the confusing "how to guide ......" but was stated "Do NOT upgrade the firmware via wireless connection"
Question : how to connect with LAN wire ? Try plugging btw the computer LAN and the router LAN.... can't access the 192.168.0.1
Question : any proper step-by-step guide on how to update the firmware?
Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Not Broadcasting SSID / Can't Connect To Wire
Nov 10, 2011So I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?

I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.

I brought a longer White wire so it would reach from downstairs where it is plugged in to upstairs (if I just plug in modem in upstairs it will not connect) So this is the idea I have downstairs the phone that is plugged into another white wire extender that leads from the main plug in the wall. In that extender is the phone and the OTHER extender that leads upstairs to a room just above. The extender leading upstairs has the internet modem plugged into it. now the extender white wire from the other extender downstairs has one of those white square plugs. (the ones that go from the main socket and the phone and modem connects too) And that Square plug is where the modem is plugged into. BUT now this is the annoying part! it will not connect to the internet without being in the same plug as the phone downstairs!

May 9, 2011i am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.

Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.
