View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Packard Bell Laptop using Windows XP OS and doesn't have Wireless Connection. So long ago i bought a Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G v.1.2 but didn't have time to set it up or use it for travelling conditions. A couple years later when i came back to check on the laptop, i noticed that i lost the setup CD. So i went on the Linksys website and looked for the driver the download. On the back of the Adapter(card) it says it is version 1.2. But this version is unavailable on the Linksys Website. I could only find v.1, 2,3,3.1 and 7. v.1 gives a driver of v3.1 etc... AND NOT VICE-VERSA.So first when i inserted the card into the slot , the PC didnt detect it. It only detected it rarely if i insert another driver (eg: USB..). And so a window would pop up to install but i didnt know what to do there. When i downloaded the v.1 driver from the website and installed it, it seemed not the detect the card either, it would just say searching for wireless, but that's it. It would keep searching for hours even when im next to the router.finally, only the Power led light on the card is lit up but not the "Link" led.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 2011 Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop with Windows 7, I also have a 2006 Compaq Presario with the original Windows Vista. We use a DIR-615 router for WIFI connection on both. The old Compaq will keep a connection with no problem and never looses a connection. The new Toshiba will keep 3 bars of signal but will not keep a constant connection to the internet. Do I need to upgrade my router, which I bought the one I have about 3-4 years ago, or could it possibly be a problem with my new computer?

Since ive had my PC for so long I decided it was time to update, now im at a loss of what to do. I am currently using my laptop to submit this post, as my PC is not a wifi enabled device. View 2 Replies View RelatedCannot access wireless w/ my Toshiba Laptop-it is a Satellite L305 purchased 2 years ago. I am staying with some friends for the summer in a rural area-they no longer have Internet service ( Comcast modem is still in basement--are NOT going to reactivate service). The closest WiFi spot is a mile walk away ( Library at a State College). Every day all I get is frustrated as I try and try to access any wireless networks--Linksys is what keeps coming up--but says I am too far away from access point. The "local computer whiz" told me to purchase a Wireless Card-which I will gladly do IF it will enable me to access wireless networks from home. What, if anything, I can do or purchase to enable me to access wireless from my "rural home"?
