We have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report. I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug. What is the root password? Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..
I now have two identically configured (same hardware and software) Inspiron 1420 (new) and I can't get the Wireless Activity Indicator light to come on. I've talked with Tech Support three times (Level 1 and 2). They thought it was the switch ans sent an in-home technician to replace the bottom casing of my first unit. When the Technician realized that the switch was fine and the indicator (LED light) was not coming on, I requested a new replacement unit. The second unit arrived with the same non-functioning LED. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've gone to Staples office supply store that now sells Dell 1521 & 1721 laptops and both store display model's LED activity indicator lights up when both units are off and the switch is pushed to the ">>" position. Having already insured (with Tech Support walking me through it) that Quickset as well as the BIOS have the Wi Fi Catcher enabled and Wireless settings enabled. There are no problems connecting to wireless networks when the laptop is on and the switch does turn wireless On and Off. Question to all Inspiron 1420 owners, how many of you can get your wireless activity indicator to light up when your laptop is OFF? If enough owners respond that their LED indicators don't work, maybe we can get Dell to admit a design defect. At this point, I don't know what else to do to get Dell to fix this issue and I assume they won't keep sending me new replacement laptops until I find one whose LED works.

All other computers, tablets, cell phones in the house can connect with no problem. View 2 Replies View RelatedCannot access wireless w/ my Toshiba Laptop-it is a Satellite L305 purchased 2 years ago. I am staying with some friends for the summer in a rural area-they no longer have Internet service ( Comcast modem is still in basement--are NOT going to reactivate service). The closest WiFi spot is a mile walk away ( Library at a State College). Every day all I get is frustrated as I try and try to access any wireless networks--Linksys is what keeps coming up--but says I am too far away from access point. The "local computer whiz" told me to purchase a Wireless Card-which I will gladly do IF it will enable me to access wireless networks from home. What, if anything, I can do or purchase to enable me to access wireless from my "rural home"?

Checking Fn > F8 below main icon (with an antena ) do not show up other four icons below, like they suppose to do. So I'm not even able to try to turn it on. Restarting doesn't do at all. Pushing Wi-fi switch, above the keybord, doesn't even show On/of icon.

Is it something simple or what?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a toshiba satellite and have accessed the router through another computer and was able to access the internet. I am currently using the ipad to post.At first when i choose my internet connection, it will automativally try and detect the network type, then tell me that "windows is unable to connect to the selected network". I have read other user posts and went to the wireless properties and changed the network authentication to shared and unclicked the "key index". Now, when i click on my wireless network it will automatically ask me to enter my network key. But after i do that, all it does is wait a few seconds and close that dialog box without connecting me.[code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop U405D-S2902 running Vista 32 bit that cannot connect to the internet. It is able to detect the available networks in range, but fails to connect after entering the password. I know the passwords to use the wireless are accurate, since I'm online right now typing this. The computer has trouble connecting to all networks, but works if I plug the ethernet cable directly in. I went ahead an deleted all of the saved preferred networks, as my other Toshiba needs a tidying up once in a while and likes those networks going disconnected.
