The only way we can use our Motorola router is unencrypted. I have gone into the router numerous times and reset it, unplugged it, retyped the WEP key, tried to shift to WPA and nothing works. None of three computers in the house will connect unless all encryption is off. We live in a good neighborhood on a cul de sac, don't get a lot of traffic through here, and know the immediate neighbors, but nothing is stopping a stranger with a laptop from sitting on the street and using our wifi. I've talked to the Comcast tech. The trouble just seems to be our boxes won't get past the WEP encryption stage.

I own a Motorola SurfBoard SBG900 wireless modem. It has worked fine for years. I just went on vacation for 2 weeks and unplugged my computers, printer, modem etc. Upon returning I can not get any wireless signal from my sbg900. The wireless light at the bottom is no longer lit up either. I can connect via ethernet cable however.

I can't get my PC to connect to my broadband. I am running windows 7 64 bit and use the following:
Motorola Surfboard SB6120 modem;
NetGear WGR614 wireless router
I am able to connect with other devices (iPhone, Roku) to my wireless through the wireless router. My computer recognizes the broadband connection, but it won't connect to it. I get two errors when I try to connect:651: the modem has reported an error, and 638: the remote server is not responding in a timely fashion.I have tried connecting the ethernet cable directly to the modem, but I get the same results. Also, I have tried to cycle down the computer, router, then modem and turn them back on in reverse with no change in results. The connection worked until I clicked "disable connection" one day when I had trouble connecting (high traffic i think). Since then, the"home group" I set up originally with the connection wizard disappeared, and it had not been able to connect since then. When I try to connect I click on a small icon in the lower right that says, "not connected, connection available", then I click on the button to connect to broadband and get the errors described above.

I have a Surfboard 5120, which has both Ethernet and USB ports. According to the manual, a different PC (or, in the case of the Ethernet port, PC or switch) can be connected to each.
The ethernet port is already connected via a long, in-wall RJ-45 line to a Netgear wireless router elsewhere in the house.
As of yesterday, sitting next to the Surfboard I now have a network-ready Onkyo AVR (audio-visual receiver) with Ethernet port. I am wondering if I can use a simple USB to Ethernet connector to provide internet to the Onkyo. I am not very network savvy and don't know if the AVR would be able to connect okay.
My "network savvy" is so bad that I will probably screw it up if I were to connect the cable modem's single ethernet port to a switch, and then attempt to connect that switch to both the Netgear wireless route and also the Onkyo AVR (assign IP addresses etc).

I have a SB6121 Motorola Modem for my Comcast Service. The modem is supposed to give out an ip range of 192.168.100.11-40When I reboot the modem I temporarily get a 192.168.100.12 IP address but then somehow it changes to a 68.42.83.47 ip.I can't get it to stick on the 192.168.100.x network so I can't access anything. Before I had my pc connected to a Netgear Router which received the internet from the SB6121 but I am needing to troubleshoot some issues with a freePBX server so I plugged straight into the gateway.

I have a Motorola SURFBoard 6580 as my cable modem + router + 802.11n AP. I wanted to add an AP on the second floor of the house for better signal. I have read that APs from different manuafacturers are not necessarily compatible for seamless roaming. Well, I guess the worst case is to turn off wifi on the SURFBoard and get 2 identical APs, but that's not ideal.

I have a Motorola surfboard sb5101. Provider is comcast.I have never had any problem with my equipment until now. Here is whats going on. I bought a used sb5101 a week ago so that I would not have to pay the rental fee anymore. Comcast activated it, and it worked fine for a week or two. The other night I got disconnected from XBOX live randomly in the middle of a game. Thought maybe just a hickup, no biggie. Well it happened 3 more times in a few hours, then again the next day.So thinking maybe this used modem is bad, I plugged back in the rental from comcast which I still had. Worked fine for a while, then the same thing, random dissconnects after 10 min, 30 min, 2 hrs into a game...etcOn both modems, the 1st and 4th green light are solid, the 2nd and 3rd green light are flashing when the connection from LIVE drops. So I'm starting to think know that neither of the modems are bad. I then try going directly to the modem instead of the router, never had any problems with the router but figured I try.I even went into the attic and got rid of the 4 way splitter that feeds cable into all the bedrooms and put in a 2 way instead hooking up only the cable line im using for xbox. Thought maybe the signal is getting degraded to bad, eventhough never had a problem before. So now I'm practically hooked up right to the line coming off the street, ethernet cord plugged directly into the modem, no router. Still dropping connections randomly with same 2nd and 3rd light flashing. The connection needs to be completely stable for multiple hours. Also, I called comcast when I had to reactivate the rental modem, so they did refreshed that modem and reactivate it, but still had the disconnects the next day.

I can't connect my router (WRT54GL) to my new cable modem (Motorola Surfboard SB6120).
Some info:
1) Cable modem works perfectly when connected directly to computer ethernet port
2) ISP is Optimum Online
3) Using Automatic DHCP setting on router
4) Using MAC cloning on router
5) I can access the router's admin screen from the PC
6) I can connect to the router wirelessly, but no internet access
7) I've tried powering down everything multiple times, still no internet access
8) I upgraded the router firmware to 4.30.14
9) The "link" light on the cable modem never lights up when connected to the router

Motorola Surfboard 6121, Every since Com-cast has updated their network (two months ago), my Internet connection is VERY unstable.Com-cast says it is my problem because I can get reliable service at high speed using just my laptop: Win 7, and the Motorola modem. The modem does show high speed connection (blue light) when the only thing connected is the laptop. If I connect the rest of the home network; ,LinkSys BEFSR11 router, Netgear FS #108 10/100 switch, then my laptop. The Surfboard modems light turns orange (lower connection speeds). do I need to replace my NetGear switch and my router? This constant up and down intermittent connection is terrible!

Today I purchased a Motorola SURFboard extreme Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0 in order to replace my old modem which is out of date and has been very slow as of late. I connected the coaxial cable, Ethernet cable(to Linksys wireless router), and power expecting it to simply work. All four lights came on green (power, downstream, upstream, connectivity). The downstream light turned blue which indicates a bonded connection. The device light was blinking on the modem. I connected to my wireless router, but no internet access. I then tried connecting my laptop to the modem directly via Ethernet cable, still no access. I think that rules out the router being the problem. I also ruled out my laptop being the problem as the same thing is occurring with my other laptop and desktop. I called my ISP (Cox Cable) and had them re-establish connection with my modem, this did nothing. I thought for sure this meant I had purchased a faulty modem; I hooked up my old modem and the results were the same, the modem connected fully with no problem (all four lights were green) but I have no internet access.

So I just noticed on my Cable modem the link light is blinking orange, per Motorola if its blinking orange - Computer is connected via a 10 mbps or 100 mbps Ethernet port.
On the Linksys E4200 status page it says
Internet Port Speed:
Internet 10/100 mbps
Local Port Speed Port 1 - 1Gbps
Maybe I just noticed this with this router, but I'm pretty sure this didn't start happening until I updated to 1.0.03.
Previously the link light was blue indicating a 1Gbps connection.

I recently switched from dsl to cable. I have a e2000 router that I would still like to use. The modem I have is a Motorola Surfboard SB6121. It has no options that I can modify. The modem has a built in DHCP server. However, I can't modify it and I don't like the ip configuration it uses. For the time being I have the modem connected to a switch which is working fine. What I would like to know is how to configure the e2000 to use the modems connection. I used PPPoE for DSL and had login information.

when I connect my DIR-655 to the Motorola SB6141 cable modem I notice that the link speed LED on the cable modem never glows blue indicating a gigabit connection, it only glows amber indicating a lower negotiated speed. I am using a Cat6 cable between the two devices and have also tried a Cat5e cable.
When I try and force the WAN port speed to 1000Mpbs in the router interface the cable modem link speed will not light at all with no connectivity. Only resetting to Auto WAN port speed restores functionality albeit at the lower negotiated speed setting.
I'm running the DIR-655 rev B1 at 2.03NA firmware level.
I did connect the modem directly to my PC that uses an Intel Gigabit ethernet card and still had the lower connection indication (Amber) so it seems that the modem might be faulty.

I have a wifi signal set up in my home but my studio 200m away gets no signal. I bought a repeater on ebay but it's still too far to pick up the signal. I can't place the repeater between the two structures due to lack of an electrical outlet. If I get an antenna for the repeater (Linksys WRT54GS with W-DRT installed) do I simply attach it where the existing antennas are on the Linksys repeater or is it more complicated than that? It seems to me those antenna ports are for sending a signal not receiving a signal.

My Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.
I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response;
then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.
The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house. That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."

I have 3 WAP200e APs in a client site and I am having a problem with the signal between the APs and Motorola 9000 barcode scanners. The first one went in about 6 months ago and it worked fine. The client then asked for two more to be installed in a couple of rooms adjacent to the room where the first AP was installed. They use barcode scanners with these APs and since the two new ones were installed, the first on is dropping the connection to the scanner. I have turned the new APs off and everything is back to normal. I have reduced the power output of the two new APs and the situation has improved, but they still get problems, especially on Monday morning, where it won't work at all for the first few hours, and then bursts into life and works fine for the rest of the week.

We have a new DCS-5220 that we're playing with, seeing what we can do with it, and have a number of questions as well as one possible bug to report. I was somewhat surprised when tier 3 support said this was the best place to cover them all - including the bug.We are using firmware version 1.02, which is what the camera came with.
In the webgui, under Configuration > Tools > System > "Turn off the LED indicator" this is completely ignored by the camera. The red power LED is always on, and the green status LED flashes as long as it has a network connection. This is clearly a bug. What is the root password? Is there a URL we can pole for a static image? (ie.url... which would trigger a snapshot every time the URL is requested)Are there any shell commands for motor control? If so, what are they?Is there a shell command to retrieve logged in users? If so, what is it?Is there a shell command for controlling the LED activity? It would be really nice if the status LED lit green when there was someone logged on to the webgui. Perhaps this is the intended activity, and it not doing so should be filed away as part of the above bug..

I now have two identically configured (same hardware and software) Inspiron 1420 (new) and I can't get the Wireless Activity Indicator light to come on. I've talked with Tech Support three times (Level 1 and 2). They thought it was the switch ans sent an in-home technician to replace the bottom casing of my first unit. When the Technician realized that the switch was fine and the indicator (LED light) was not coming on, I requested a new replacement unit. The second unit arrived with the same non-functioning LED. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've gone to Staples office supply store that now sells Dell 1521 & 1721 laptops and both store display model's LED activity indicator lights up when both units are off and the switch is pushed to the ">>" position. Having already insured (with Tech Support walking me through it) that Quickset as well as the BIOS have the Wi Fi Catcher enabled and Wireless settings enabled. There are no problems connecting to wireless networks when the laptop is on and the switch does turn wireless On and Off. Question to all Inspiron 1420 owners, how many of you can get your wireless activity indicator to light up when your laptop is OFF? If enough owners respond that their LED indicators don't work, maybe we can get Dell to admit a design defect. At this point, I don't know what else to do to get Dell to fix this issue and I assume they won't keep sending me new replacement laptops until I find one whose LED works.

I have the Motorola SURFboard SG6580 cable modem/wireless router combo. However, I'm only using my Linksys WRT54GL for the wireless functions. It's been my old standard for years, not to mentioned I have my entire wireless encrypted network setup via this device.
So, recently I've been trying to set up Port Forwarding and I've been having trouble getting sites like canyouseeme.org to see the port. After speaking with Tech Support at my ISP, they had me disable some of the settings in my SURFboard modem in order to deactivate the router side of things to get it act only as a cable modem. However, my port forwarding is still not working.
Here is a screen shot of all the pertinent screens of my SG6580 properties, and what they had me set. if I have properly configured the modem to not interfere with my other wireless setup so I can at least rule this out as what's blocking my port forwarding?

I reconnected my SB after letting it sit powered down for 6 minutes to lose all of its configuration and I was then able to get it to connect to Cox's provisioning site and was able to get online with it, had to then force my router to re-detect the connection and now it is also working.Last night my ISP had an outage, or something, and I was not able to connect for quite awhile, keep in mind that my modem was working all day yesterday. It came back up around 2:30 or 3 am last night but since I was rendering some footage in Sony Vegas I did not check to make sure everything was good. So I get on my computer this afternoon and find that I am not connected to the net and that I can not ping nor connect to my SB5101. Pings all say Request timed out.All of the lights that should be on are on: power, receive, send, online all green, activity solid amber, which is almost never solid usually flashing. So I power cycle it and my router and plug them back in but now the internet light on my router never turns green, just flashing/solid amber.I am able to connect to my router, a netgear WRG3500, through the gui interface just fine. So I connected directly to my surfboard and was still unable to pull an ip address or connect to the gui for it. All pings and address renews resulted in request times out or media disconnected messages. At this point it is looking like my SB has gone bad, but I do not see how that could possibly be. These things usually have downward slides into crappy brokeness, this was immediate without any problems for 2 years.I am connected atm with my old D-Link DCM 202 modem I had before this one, which does not want to talk with my router, not sure why.
