Cisco Wireless :: WAP200E No Good Signal Between Aps And Motorola 9000

Jan 7, 2013

I have 3 WAP200e APs in a client site and I am having a problem with the signal between the APs and Motorola 9000 barcode scanners. The first one went in about 6 months ago and it worked fine. The client then asked for two more to be installed in a couple of rooms adjacent to the room where the first AP was installed. They use barcode scanners with these APs and since the two new ones were installed, the first on is dropping the connection to the scanner. I have turned the new APs off and everything is back to normal. I have reduced the power output of the two new APs and the situation has improved, but they still get problems, especially on Monday morning, where it won't work at all for the first few hours, and then bursts into life and works fine for the rest of the week.

Good Wireless Bridge To Use With Motorola 6580?

Aug 17, 2011

I'm running a Motorola Surfboard Extreme 6580 as my modem and main access point, but I have equipment downstairs in my home theater that I need LAN connections for. I want to set up another router/device as a wireless-n bridge to plug these into, and I don't want to spend more than necessary, but I want the best performance from my 6580. As the 6580 is only singal band, and my wife's computer only runs on 2.4ghz, I think I don't really need a dual band device, but a single band n device. I bought a netgear WNR2000v3 router, but when I try to bridge it (enable wireless repeating function) it tells me that I can not enable this function with AES, TKIP, or AES + TKIP enabled. The 6580 tells me I should use AES to get the best speed, and the WNR2000 won't let me use any security when bridging (the router's menu page hints tell me to enable WEP, but I don't even see an option for that, and it's pretty worthless as security I've been told). I think I need to return this WNR2000v3 and get something else.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 2504 / AIR-LAP1522AG-E-K9 Can't Get Good Signal

May 27, 2012

I deployed wireless mesh with 3 RAP and 1 MAP (AIR-LAP1522AG-E-K9 with 4 antenna) + WLC 2504. The AIR-ANT2480V-N are installed on pole from a height of 17-15 m. I noticed that I can't get a good signal (front of antenna between 40m to 60m I got between -60 and -70 dbm) with slow connection.

1) What is the best antenna height on pilone?
2) Can I use other antenna (directional) with AIR-LAP1522AG-E-K9?
3) what is the area covered by antenna?
4) the RAP and MAP establish a neighbor between them and work with same fréquence for Mesh connection. is there any impact with that?

Cabling / Cards :: Wireless - Have Very Good Signal But Slow Speeds

Nov 20, 2011

I've been having the same issue. I'll start my laptop and it will start connecting to my home network (comcast docsis 3.0 modem to dlink dir 655 router) and be cool upstairs next to the router, but when I move downstairs the speed jumps down from 130 to 117 to 78 to 5.5 mbps. Its holding steady at 117mbps right now. I'm thinking of upgrading my router to a DIR 827 hd media router 2000 so I can get dual coverage and less interference.

Netgear DGN2200v3 - Good Signal But Terrible Speed

Apr 3, 2013

I recently had to switch from a wired network to an (almost) fully wireless one, due to various circustamces.I switched to a Netgear DGN2200v3 modem/router and had to buy an Asus PCE-N15 wireless adapter for my desktop. The connection seems mostly fine on other computers, although it could be tweaked a little. Here, though, it seems just unbearable: My pc loses signal quite often and even when it's constant, sometimes it just goes too slow to actually do anything: even simply loading a page takes a couple minutes! It goes slowly most of the times, although once in a while it decides to do perfectly fine.

Sitecom N300 - Good Signal Strength But Intermittent Connectivity

Dec 10, 2012

I have recently bought a new wireless card and it is giving me grief. Until now I had been using a laptop to pick up the wireless signal from my router, and pass it along to my PC, and have been receiving excellent speeds (30 Megabit) despite being 2 floors above the router.

I bought myself a Sitecom N300 card to go in the PCI slot of my computer, and my connection is generally extremely slow, and often drops completely for minutes at a time. The strange thing, however, is that it still shows medium to strong signal strength, even when the connection drops completely!

This is completely baffling me! I can't work out what could be causing interference, or why the signal strength doesn't go down when the signal does, or why the internal laptop wi-fi receiver seems so much better than this new card with 2 massive aerials. Unfortunately my ability to move either my PC or router is somewhat limited

I'm running Windows 7, fully up-to-date, and the router is a BT Home Hub 3

2x Asus RT-N66Us - How To Get Good Signal Strength From Next Door Router

can this be done with just the 2 routers, or should I be looking for a cheap point to point setup and 2 separate routers?

Motorola SB6121 Recurring Loss Of Cable Signal Every Day For Five Months

Aug 18, 2012

My Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.

I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response;
then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.

The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house. That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."

Cisco Wireless :: Bridging VLANs With WAP200E?

I have two additional VLANs wich is tagged. I can not get these two through the bridge. I have set up a single SSID, and enabled VLAN. I have also tried to set up more than one SSID, mapping each VLAN to separate SSID's, but bridging several SSID's between two AP's make the AP's loose connectivity periodically. What would be the propper way of bridging several VLANs between two WAP200E ?

Cisco Wireless :: WAP200E Bridge Not Passing Data

Apr 19, 2012

Just setup two WAP200E's, the bridge is "Connected" as I look Status > System Performance in both WAP's. However, I cannot get to the LAN from one network to the next. Cannot even ping the WAP's from either side.

I already have two WAP200E's on this network, that have been working well for month (164 day uptime), and they are configured with a wireless bridge between them, both networks on the same LAN (same 192.168.2.x network on either side). The bridge names are different, different from the main WiFi in the building, too (if it makes a difference), and the static IPs the WAPs have don't appear to have any conflicts on the network.

This is actually three buildings, one is the main one with a Cisco SR520 for a router, and a Cisco SF 200-24P switch. So two WAP200E's go into this switch now, and I see them both fine when going into the management interface. Then each of the other buildings has one WAP200E, and a small Netgear 8 port PoE gigabit switch at each building to power the WAP.

The Netgear switches aren't managed, and I've made sure any features like STP, VLANs, etc. are turned off. And the Cisco SF 200 switch is set at auto and all the defaults mostly, particularly for the ports. I tried doing a SmartPort for this latest WAP200E and that didn't change anything, tried disabling STP for it too, and no change. The PoE port for the working WAP200E is identical in config to the PoE port for the new WAP200E, and both show forwarding, all VLANs admitted (none are enabled, no VLAN tagging, etc.).

So now I am wondering if I can have two WAP200E's into one switch? Or two bridges on the same LAN subnet? Or is there something else I am missing or should configure?

Cisco Wireless :: WAP200E Access Point Drops Connections

Aug 18, 2012

I purchased a Linksys WAP200E Wireless-G Exterior Access Point – PoE and a HGA9N (9dBi) High Gain Omni-Directional Antenna through CDW Canada about three (3) years ago in April/2009. The first year it worked great and gave complete coverage throughout the Campground. The second year it started to become increasing less coverage and now in the third year, it has very poor coverage. I have purchased and installed a new Microcom HG2415U-PRO (15dBi) HyperGain Outdoor Omni Directional Antenna. This has NOT made any improvement so I am now thinking that the WAP200E Access Point is the faulty equipment. I have changed the channel to number 11 and still no improvement. The Signal Strength is only Good and then dropping to Fair and sometimes no signal at all. This is from a line of sight location that is only 60 yards (180 feet or 54.9 metres) away. There are no objects between the Antenna and the computer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: 9000 - Can't Ping External IP

Aug 15, 2011

I'm looking to setup a few ip security cameras in my house and would like to monitor from work.  The first thing I did was give the ip camera a static ip on my local LAN 192.168.1.104.  I also forwarded port 9000 to this ip.  I then went to [URL] to look up my external ip address.  I was able to obtain one ip for my router and another for my modem (disconnected router and went direct through modem).

I've since tried to ping my router WAN ip from work numerous times via http://24.x.xxx.xx:9000 and I get timeout errors.  I've tried traceroute and it gets close, but times out the last 3 hops. I've had Comcast on the phone many times trying to resolve and needless to say they weren't able to work.
