Cisco Wireless :: What Is The Maximum Range Of WAP200E
Sep 9, 2012I want to know what is the maximum range of WAP200E. I found in an overview of the family of access points "CISCO SMB" that could reach up 4kms. Is that true?

how to power a WAP200E. In the datasheet it mentions it supports POE, however the customer does not have a POE switch and for one WAP220E is not willing to purchase.
What other options do we have? Is there a power supply for this AP?
directional antenna for the WAP200e.
I've been googling but can't seem to find a product. I have found omni-directional but no directional antennae
I'm trying to bridge two buildings with two WAP200E. The connectivity is fine, but I'm only able to get one VLAN through the bridge. That is the default VLAN 1 wich is untagged. I have two additional VLANs wich is tagged. I can not get these two through the bridge. I have set up a single SSID, and enabled VLAN. I have also tried to set up more than one SSID, mapping each VLAN to separate SSID's, but bridging several SSID's between two AP's make the AP's loose connectivity periodically. What would be the propper way of bridging several VLANs between two WAP200E ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with an pair of WAP200E's. The bridge between them stalls, found that one of the AP wireless LED don't show any activity. After powercycle the stalled AP, the bridge works again for a day or two. Have tried to replace the AP's still the same issue
Firmware is 1.20a
Just setup two WAP200E's, the bridge is "Connected" as I look Status > System Performance in both WAP's. However, I cannot get to the LAN from one network to the next. Cannot even ping the WAP's from either side.
I already have two WAP200E's on this network, that have been working well for month (164 day uptime), and they are configured with a wireless bridge between them, both networks on the same LAN (same 192.168.2.x network on either side). The bridge names are different, different from the main WiFi in the building, too (if it makes a difference), and the static IPs the WAPs have don't appear to have any conflicts on the network.
This is actually three buildings, one is the main one with a Cisco SR520 for a router, and a Cisco SF 200-24P switch. So two WAP200E's go into this switch now, and I see them both fine when going into the management interface. Then each of the other buildings has one WAP200E, and a small Netgear 8 port PoE gigabit switch at each building to power the WAP.
The Netgear switches aren't managed, and I've made sure any features like STP, VLANs, etc. are turned off. And the Cisco SF 200 switch is set at auto and all the defaults mostly, particularly for the ports. I tried doing a SmartPort for this latest WAP200E and that didn't change anything, tried disabling STP for it too, and no change. The PoE port for the working WAP200E is identical in config to the PoE port for the new WAP200E, and both show forwarding, all VLANs admitted (none are enabled, no VLAN tagging, etc.).
So now I am wondering if I can have two WAP200E's into one switch? Or two bridges on the same LAN subnet? Or is there something else I am missing or should configure?
WAP200E access point that causes it to reboot after anything from 15 to 20 mins .I have run it off an injector and a POE switch, updated the f/w to WAP200E-ETSI-FW-2.0.3.0 and it still reboots itself .I have even been sent a new one from the supplier and it does the same thing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Linksys WAP200E Wireless-G Exterior Access Point – PoE and a HGA9N (9dBi) High Gain Omni-Directional Antenna through CDW Canada about three (3) years ago in April/2009. The first year it worked great and gave complete coverage throughout the Campground. The second year it started to become increasing less coverage and now in the third year, it has very poor coverage. I have purchased and installed a new Microcom HG2415U-PRO (15dBi) HyperGain Outdoor Omni Directional Antenna. This has NOT made any improvement so I am now thinking that the WAP200E Access Point is the faulty equipment. I have changed the channel to number 11 and still no improvement. The Signal Strength is only Good and then dropping to Fair and sometimes no signal at all. This is from a line of sight location that is only 60 yards (180 feet or 54.9 metres) away. There are no objects between the Antenna and the computer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 3 WAP200e APs in a client site and I am having a problem with the signal between the APs and Motorola 9000 barcode scanners. The first one went in about 6 months ago and it worked fine. The client then asked for two more to be installed in a couple of rooms adjacent to the room where the first AP was installed. They use barcode scanners with these APs and since the two new ones were installed, the first on is dropping the connection to the scanner. I have turned the new APs off and everything is back to normal. I have reduced the power output of the two new APs and the situation has improved, but they still get problems, especially on Monday morning, where it won't work at all for the first few hours, and then bursts into life and works fine for the rest of the week.

I have a problem to connect my WAP200E to SW2960. What is my mistake? Both are POE. I connect only Wap200e to SW2960 and I check the 15.4watts, but I suposed that WAP 200E doesn't respond, because WAP 200e doesn't turn on.I need to put to grown, or put some device before on connect to SW2960 to WAP 2000E.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using 4 wap200 cisco AP, 1 wap200e linksys AP and 1 cisco sf300-24p switch. Every AP has 2 SSIDs,one is for clients and one for mobile devices.I have updated the equipment to the latest firmware but I still encounter the same issue. The mobile devices go through APs and once every 2 days, my wap200e blocks its lan interface. I suspected a stp issue, because the switch was seeing MAC addresses coming from different ports. So I disabled STP on the switch and on the AP. The annoying thing thing is that none of my other antennas get cut off.I tried replacing it with a cisco wap200e,same issue.

My question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.
Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?
I have been searching online for the maximum coverage (distance) of WAP4410N

View 1 Replies View RelatedOnly fifteen users are allowed to connect on the WLAN Controller WLANs provided on the 600 series at any one time. A sixteenth user cannot authenticate until one of the first clients de-authenticates or a timeout occurred on the controller. Note: This number is cumulative across the controller WLANs on the 600 series. For example, if two controller WLANs are configured and there are fifteen users on one of the WLANs, no users will be able to join the other WLAN on the 600 series at that time. This limit does not apply to the local private WLANs that the end user configures on the 600 series designed for personal use and clients connected on these private WLANs or on the wired ports do not affect these limits. This is from the Configuration Guide for teh 600 series Office Extend AP. Is this count per AP or total per WLC? If I have 10 APs deployed to our remote users, can each AP support two simultaneous users? Would I need to use separate WLANs for each OEAP?

The AP Spec itself does not show power levels by channel and regulatory domain which is what I need. If I can't get the spec, I will have to query the AP using "show ap config 802.11x apname" for each config I need.
