Cisco Wireless :: WAP200E Bridge Not Passing Data
Apr 19, 2012
Just setup two WAP200E's, the bridge is "Connected" as I look Status > System Performance in both WAP's. However, I cannot get to the LAN from one network to the next. Cannot even ping the WAP's from either side.
I already have two WAP200E's on this network, that have been working well for month (164 day uptime), and they are configured with a wireless bridge between them, both networks on the same LAN (same 192.168.2.x network on either side). The bridge names are different, different from the main WiFi in the building, too (if it makes a difference), and the static IPs the WAPs have don't appear to have any conflicts on the network.
This is actually three buildings, one is the main one with a Cisco SR520 for a router, and a Cisco SF 200-24P switch. So two WAP200E's go into this switch now, and I see them both fine when going into the management interface. Then each of the other buildings has one WAP200E, and a small Netgear 8 port PoE gigabit switch at each building to power the WAP.
The Netgear switches aren't managed, and I've made sure any features like STP, VLANs, etc. are turned off. And the Cisco SF 200 switch is set at auto and all the defaults mostly, particularly for the ports. I tried doing a SmartPort for this latest WAP200E and that didn't change anything, tried disabling STP for it too, and no change. The PoE port for the working WAP200E is identical in config to the PoE port for the new WAP200E, and both show forwarding, all VLANs admitted (none are enabled, no VLAN tagging, etc.).
So now I am wondering if I can have two WAP200E's into one switch? Or two bridges on the same LAN subnet? Or is there something else I am missing or should configure?

A little background on me: I do performance testing for a large corporation, so networking is like an old hat for me - but this has me spinning because it makes no logical sense to me.Here's the layout of my home network:CableModem(passthrough) -> WRT120N -> ENH200 (Access point) -> ENH200 (Client Bridge) -> Netgear N600Both the WRT120N and the Netgear N600 are providing wireless access to clients at both locations. N600 is set not to route or DHCP, and the WAN port isn't used.Initially the WRT120N wasn't in play because the cable modem was serving DHCP, but it wouldn't successfully send DHCP to most clients on the other side of the client bridge. So I installed the WRT120N (old, I know) and it was able to serve up DHCP to any and all systems... for a while. Now DHCP doesn't appear to be working fully again on the Netgear side of the bridge. One device registers in the WRT120N, the client list shows the mac as getting assigned an ID, but the device never actually pulls the address. Static works fine. Those that already have DHCP addresses work like a charm, so I know the link is stable. pingtest.net reports near perfection.

We have setup a bridge between two of our offices using two WET200's in adhoc mode. Everything is connected fine and the signal strengh is good. All traffic pass's over the bridge correctly but DHCP requsts/replys seem to be failing to traverse the bridge. Our DHCP server is hosted on site A and the computers on site B fail to obtain thiers IP's from the dhcp over the bridge requiring us to use static IP's.Firmware is currently the latest.

I am currently using a 1841 router with AdvSec 12.4(24)T4 IOS on it. I used to have a working SSL tunnel configuration working, but for some reason it had disappeared and I am rebuilding the configuration. Unfortunately, I have been able to configure the router to perform the SSL tunnel, but I am not able to pass any data through the VPN. I am only able to ping the inside interface of the router and this is it. If I try to extended PING from the router to the remote PC I am able to get replies. Trying to PING anything on the remote network does not provide any responses back. I am thinking there is some sort of routing not happening here or I am missing some sort of configuration to allow the VPN to pass data through correctly. [code]

I'm struggling with a configuration issue on the Cisco SG200-08P. We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet. It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so. I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches) If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.

how to power a WAP200E. In the datasheet it mentions it supports POE, however the customer does not have a POE switch and for one WAP220E is not willing to purchase.
What other options do we have? Is there a power supply for this AP?

I'm trying to bridge two buildings with two WAP200E. The connectivity is fine, but I'm only able to get one VLAN through the bridge. That is the default VLAN 1 wich is untagged. I have two additional VLANs wich is tagged. I can not get these two through the bridge. I have set up a single SSID, and enabled VLAN. I have also tried to set up more than one SSID, mapping each VLAN to separate SSID's, but bridging several SSID's between two AP's make the AP's loose connectivity periodically. What would be the propper way of bridging several VLANs between two WAP200E ?

WAP200E access point that causes it to reboot after anything from 15 to 20 mins .I have run it off an injector and a POE switch, updated the f/w to WAP200E-ETSI-FW-2.0.3.0 and it still reboots itself .I have even been sent a new one from the supplier and it does the same thing.

I purchased a Linksys WAP200E Wireless-G Exterior Access Point – PoE and a HGA9N (9dBi) High Gain Omni-Directional Antenna through CDW Canada about three (3) years ago in April/2009. The first year it worked great and gave complete coverage throughout the Campground. The second year it started to become increasing less coverage and now in the third year, it has very poor coverage. I have purchased and installed a new Microcom HG2415U-PRO (15dBi) HyperGain Outdoor Omni Directional Antenna. This has NOT made any improvement so I am now thinking that the WAP200E Access Point is the faulty equipment. I have changed the channel to number 11 and still no improvement. The Signal Strength is only Good and then dropping to Fair and sometimes no signal at all. This is from a line of sight location that is only 60 yards (180 feet or 54.9 metres) away. There are no objects between the Antenna and the computer.

I have 3 WAP200e APs in a client site and I am having a problem with the signal between the APs and Motorola 9000 barcode scanners. The first one went in about 6 months ago and it worked fine. The client then asked for two more to be installed in a couple of rooms adjacent to the room where the first AP was installed. They use barcode scanners with these APs and since the two new ones were installed, the first on is dropping the connection to the scanner. I have turned the new APs off and everything is back to normal. I have reduced the power output of the two new APs and the situation has improved, but they still get problems, especially on Monday morning, where it won't work at all for the first few hours, and then bursts into life and works fine for the rest of the week.

I have a customer with a linux OS machine running Cisco Wireless Controll System.
He needs are to add a new wireless AP with the following features :
- compatible with most laptops
- exterior conditions "resistant" (sun, rain...)
- reasonnable performance (the AP would be a a roof with people on the roof itself, max distance : 15 meters, no walls)
I saw the WAP200E but I have no idea, if it is compatible with Cisco Wireless Control System

I connect only Wap200e to SW2960 and I check the 15.4watts, but I suposed that WAP 200E doesn't respond, because WAP 200e doesn't turn on.I need to put to grown, or put some device before on connect to SW2960 to WAP 2000E.

I'm using 4 wap200 cisco AP, 1 wap200e linksys AP and 1 cisco sf300-24p switch. Every AP has 2 SSIDs,one is for clients and one for mobile devices.I have updated the equipment to the latest firmware but I still encounter the same issue. The mobile devices go through APs and once every 2 days, my wap200e blocks its lan interface. I suspected a stp issue, because the switch was seeing MAC addresses coming from different ports. So I disabled STP on the switch and on the AP. The annoying thing thing is that none of my other antennas get cut off.I tried replacing it with a cisco wap200e,same issue.

I have 2 1242AG APs setup with one SSID and no vlans configured. The APs are connected to a switch along with my DHCP server. Clients are able to connect to the SSID but are unable to get an IP from the server. Clients can plug into the switch and get an IP. If I configure a static IP on the wireless card, the client works fine.
Is there something I'm missing on the AP to allow DHCP requests to pass through? IPhelper?
Here is the AP info: AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9 12.4(21a)JA1

Our brand new WAP321 is configured manually because the setup wizard would not complete, just hangs at the end.
Anyway, when a client connects to the AP, it cannot get an IP address. It is able to connect to the AP but does not pickup an IP from our internal DHCP server. I've been up and down tthe config screens and even tried hard resetting the AP and starting from scratch to no avail. This happens with 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz modes.
I've tried laptops and smartphones with the same result.

I have a Cisco RV220W running the latest firmware (currently 1.0.4.17), and I have noticed that after about a week of use, wireless clients can no longer acquire IP addresses via DHCP.
I have used Network Monitor on both the DHCP server, and the WiFi client, and can see that the server is receiving the requests and sending a reply, but the client never sees the response from the server. So far the only way to resolve this is to reboot the router.

I have the bridge working but I have to assign a static IP address to devices connected to it. I can't get it to pick up an address from my DHCP server. Here's what I have:
Cisco ASA5505 (Firewall & DHCP server)
WAP54G - Access Point
WET610N - This Wireless Bridge
The ASA5505 successfully gives DHCP address to ALL wired and wireless computers. The WET610N has connectivity to the WAP54G. The status page indicates it's connected and I can get on the internet if I set a static address. However, once I configure my computer to automatically get an IP from DHCP, it just times-out and says limited or no connectivity. Again, when I set a static IP, I have connectivity to everything. I know the AP is working because I can get an address from my DHCP server (ASA5505) with my other laptops and even my cell phone. Why can't I get a DHCP address through this bridge (WET610N)?

I'm thinking about changing my home router (have WAG300N now) and my big concern are GRE and ipv6ip tunnels. Righ now I experience that every few days WAG300N stops passing GRE traffic from inside of my network therefore my ipv6ip tunnel goes down. The only way to sove that is to completly reload WAG300N router.
passing ipv6ip and GRE tunnels through E4200 or EA4500? I see no passthrough in configuration option for those routers. Also performance question - I have 64Mbit symmetric internet connection. I guess both routers would easily handle that with SPI turned on and NAT?

I have a vendor that currently uses a Cisco 871 as a VPN router in our company network, they use it connect to provide services to one of the servers in our LAN for our customers. Recently, we are going to be setting up a 24/7 call center with this vendor, they will be accessing a server in our network through the VPN to provide customer service during after hour periods. We have a problem however, with an application that is hosted by another vendor that is critical for our regular company call center. Access is reached with this application through this vendor by way of IPSec VPN tunnel that is built in our company's Cisco ASA 5510. This application is accessed via Internet Explorer that goes across to access the application at the endpoint
I need to figure a way by which the vendor that will be running the 24/7 call center coming through their tunnel in our network to connect over to the tunnel on the vendor on my ASA. Im likely going to have to set some routing of traffic in my internal default gateway router for this to work.

I've got a client that recently got an ASA 5505. E0/0 is connected to the outside, E0/1 connected to the internal server (Win 2008). The ASA "local network" is 172.30.1.0/24; my internal network is 192.168.1.0/24. I'm able to connect from home through AnyConnect and get a proper address (which I've got a pool of 172.30.1.64/26 assigned for VPN users), but no traffic from my computer will go to the internal network, nor will the internal server (or the ASA for that matter) can't talk to my VPN'd computer.
On the firewall settings on the ASA, I've got it all open: any/any on both inside and outside, just to try and get anything to go through. I've even got split-tunneling working, but not traffic-passing! The config is below (redacting local AAA users).
