View 4 RepliesMy question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.
Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?
I have a very special application where I need to connect as much as possible end devices to a single access point. The required data throughput per end device is very small - around 1 to 5 kbit/sec.I am using the Access Point Aironet 1242AG.
Questions :
1. What is the maximum number of simultaneous users that can be connected to a Cisco Access point, is it 255 or can be more ?
2. If I define multiple SSID’s, what if the total numbers of users that can be connected to a Cisco Access point
3. I there a simulator tool that can be used to simulate multiple wireless connections to an AP
4. Have anyone tested so many users connected to 1 Access point ?
How many maximum clients are supported by cisco aironet 1262 AP and also by a 5500 Wireless Controller?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gt running firmware 1.0.04 in my house. I have about 30-40 wifi devices.. Mostly smartphones connecting to the router. If i look at the dhcp table there is about 35 computers listed. The router is running on channel 2.
Lately ive noticed that certain devices can not connect after they are powered up.. It could be a tablet, pc or smartphone. Most will error out saying they cant connect. If i turn off a working device then the newly powered on device can connect. It seems like i have reached a limit.
Setting a failing device to static ip does not work, the device never succesfully associates. I tried upping the dhcp pool to 100 from 50. Is this just a limitation of the router? Is there another router that i can buy that will work for me?
We are about to upgrade our training facilities wireless and i have a few questions regarding the number of active clients we should target our design for.
We would be using 1142 and 3502I access points. I was thinking that based on the belo we'd be able to support around 30-40 clients per AP.

which is the maximum number of simultaneous wired guest clients on a 5508? And in a 2112 controller?
Wired clients count as wireless clients??
What about anchoring limitations, what is the effect of wired guest clients on the anchor controller?
What is the maximum allowed number of wired clients behind a workgroup bridge? In other words, is there a limit on MAC addresses?I assume 1262 AP in WGB mode is connecting to a lighweight AP (1262 or 3502), latest IOS and WLC software. I wasn't able to find the answer from Cisco documentation.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 WLCs, 4402 (main) and 5508 (backup). While we turn on both devices, 4402 have 10 APs, and 5508 have 10 APs as well. Total connected clients will be 120+, but when we turn off either 1 wlc, let's say only 4402 is power on, total 20 APs joined, but the total client will be 90+, never reach over 100 clients. The same happened on 5508, is there any maximum associated connection on WLC?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust loaded the 7.2.103.0 software onto the brand new WiSM2. Going throught the options and have found that under the global parameters for 802.11a/n, 802.11b/g/n radios is now the "Maximum Allowed Clients" option. The allowed setting is from 1 - 200 clients.
Does that mean only 200 clients will be allowed to associate to the WLC on that radio at a maximum?
Doesn't seems to make sense... I have the 500 AP license on this WiSM2... I know this option used to be an optional setting under a WLAN in previous releases.
I have a few sites using the RV042 with wireless access points and some of them have over 50 devices. In reviewing the documentation (specifically,[URL]), I came across this:Enable DHCP server: Check the box to allow the router to dynamically assign IP addresses to up to 50 connected devices. Uncheck the box if you have another DHCP server on the network or you want to configure static IP addresses for your network devices. Is this accurate? Or will the RV042 allow more than 50 devices?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy EA4500 with the latest firmware will only display nine connected devices at a time. It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).

My question relates to how many clients can be connected to a 2600 series AP. The documentation states 200 clients per radio and the AP has three radios. However when my AP gets to 200 it rejects further clients with the following log: [code] I see this exact message many times and each time the radio mac address is the same and the number of clients connected is 199. The same mac address is used for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz so does this AP have a single logical radio covering both 2.4 and 5ghz frequency ranges and is the limit for all connected clients 200?When viewing the AP details under the Wireless tab it only lists one mac address for each AP for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed an Aironet 1602i, standalone WAP. I have it configured to use a RADIUS server in our office. However, two issues have come up when trying to get clients connected.
iPhones and iPads won't connect to either the 2.4 or the 5 GHz radios.
No one can connect to the 5 Ghz radio.
Both radios are UP according to the GUI interfaces of the WAP. Also, laptops and android devices are able to connect to the 2.4GHz radio but not the 5 GHz radio.
I am on the latest version of the firmware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use two wlc 4400 (4.2.x version) with a mobility domain and one ssid, both wlc are connected to a cisco l2 switch infrastructure. On the wlc I use the p2p blocking action 'drop' [URL] to isolate the clients from each other. Does only unicast traffic is blocked or also multicast and broadcast traffic like arp requests?Concerning blocking p2p traffic of clients connected to the same ssid but different controllers I found the following statement in the LAP FAQs [URL]
Q. In autonomous APs, Public Secure Packet Forwarding (PSPF) is used to avoid client devices associated to this AP from inadvertently sharing files with other client devices on the wireless network. Is there any equivalent feature in Lightweight APs?
A. The feature or the mode that performs the similar function of PSPF in lightweight architecture is called peer-to-peer blocking mode. Peer-to-peer blocking mode is actually available with the controllers that manage the LAP. If this mode is disabled on the controller (which is the default setting), it allows the wireless clients to communicate with each other through the controller. If the mode is enabled, it blocks the communication between clients through the controller. It only works among the APs that have joined to the same controller. When enabled, this mode does not block wireless clients terminated on one controller from the ability to get to wireless clients terminated on a different controller, even in the same mobility group.
what's the best practise to prevent this inter wlc client traffic? I already read about using acls on the wlc dynamic interfaces, or private vlans on the l2 switch vlans where the dynamic interfaces are connected to. Is it allowed to completely isolate the wlc from each other on these dynamic interfaces with acls or private vlans or do the wlc need to see each other on this interfaces (e.g. heart beat)?
Recently I have installed and configurated an AP 1260, it has already IP, SSID, and ping to the router, but after install the antenna I open the web configuration and see that it has 0 clients connected and the light is always green, indicated as only is configurated with nobody connected.
Tha radio setting is up, 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz any issue with the antenna? or i need to configure anything else?
