My controller is vWLC installed in ESXi which has to vNet Cards configured with all vlans(4095), then it is connected to a 3560 switch with trunk. The configuration of the switch interface is as belows: The SSID is BYOD and I can connect the SSID and get the IP address such as 10.10.10.118/24, but for now, i cannot ping 10.10.10.1, but i can ping 10.10.10.90.

On the wlc I use the p2p blocking action 'drop' [URL] to isolate the clients from each other. Peer-to-peer blocking mode is actually available with the controllers that manage the LAP. If the mode is enabled, it blocks the communication between clients through the controller. It only works among the APs that have joined to the same controller. what's the best practise to prevent this inter wlc client traffic? I already read about using acls on the wlc dynamic interfaces, or private vlans on the l2 switch vlans where the dynamic interfaces are connected to. Is it allowed to completely isolate the wlc from each other on these dynamic interfaces with acls or private vlans or do the wlc need to see each other on this interfaces (e.g. heart beat)?
I'm trying to get a 2811 router with a NM-AIR-WLC6 Wireless Controller Module to work with an c1200 series access point. The LWAP is connected to a 2690 switch which has a trunk connected to the router. My configuration looks very similar to example 2 on this page: [URL] . The LWAP does get an IP from the DHCP pool on the router. I can also connect to the GUI of the controller from a PC on VLAN 250 (which also is connected to the switch).

The moment I join my Wireless network I get no IP and when I enter a valid static IP, I still can't ping the gateway. I also noticed that the controller could ping the gateway before I configured the interface. After configuring an interface with that gateway, the controller loses the ability to ping to it. I can't seem to figure out why. I've been working all week on getting this controller and LWAP to broadcast a fully working network.
I have the dhcp server setup and working on our main 3560x.
The only problem is that it is not assigning the dhcp clients a default gateway.
I was not able to find it in the Cisco documentation and a google search is not useful either.
I have a VM server, whose IP is in customer VLAN600 ( 172.60.60.10/24 ) and Peer end is switch then Firewall.Switch is configured with same VLAN600 and learning mac-address of Server on VLAN 600, Firewall is also having VLAN600 and IP is 172.60.60.1/24.Server is not able to Ping/reach Firewall and vice versa.

From the switch I can ping the router and server with no issue (directely connected). But from the server I am not able to ping the router. The router and the server are in the same subnet. The router is configured as the default router for the server. I am not able to ping the server from the router either. Here's the output of the ip route from the router. The server IP address is 10.1.200.21 and the router IP address is 10.10.200.1

We have two ASA5510s, each with outside interfaces to the same two ISPs (different IP addresses within the same subnet, of course). Both ASAs allow ICMP on all (inside and outside) interfaces. One ASA's default route is to ISP-1 and the other is to ISP-2. We can ping the default gateways for both ISPs from only one ASA. From the other ASA, we can only ping the default gateway for the default route but not the other. The pings originate from an inside client, first configured with the default gateway for ASA-1, then for ASA-2. Why does this happen, how do I troubleshoot something like this and how do I fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used the Cisco Configuration Professional to add an Easy VPN Server to my 3825. I'm able to connect when remote but I can't ping the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 which is in the same network as the VPN DHCP pool. I can access every single other device on the VLAN segments but not the default gateway which means when i connect I can't look at my router. And there's more, I cannot ping anything offnet (ie 75.75.75.75).
Attached are some images which show some details from the client during the VPN connect and a few from the router (i had to use the lan switch as a jump host). If you can figure this out before I go back to the coffee shop to test this tomorrow I will send you a cake.

Last week we had some forwarding issues with our cat 6509e VSS pair, wherby clients could ping the gateway but couldnt route through it! we identified this as being core 2 in the vss pair, yesterday we rebooted the 2nd switch and now the issue has been resolved.

I have a 3560G and an ASA FW, for which I am trying to use PBR to append the next hop. The gateway is the switch VLAN address and the amended net hop is the same VLAN interface on the ASA. Trouble is, I can ping the FW from a client, but not the switch. If I remove the route map, I can ping both. Even more strange is this is the case for some VLANs, but not all!

View 11 Replies View RelatedWe have two catalyst 3560 switches running c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin They are connected using etherchannel using gi 0/21 - 24 interfaces.
on 3560-1 switch, there isn't any ip-default gateway or ip route configured. It only have 1 interface vlan configured.
on 3560-2 switch, there is ip default gateway configured along with 1 interface vlan.
What i dont understand here is that, i can reach out to other subnets from 3560-1 switch in which the routing is not enabled?

I have a WAP4410n which has been configured with a single SSID since implementation several weeks ago with no issues. I am now trying to add a second SSID and not having any success. Originally the second SSID was not being assigned a MAC address and thus not being broadcasted. After upgrading firmware to 2.0.4.2 I now see a MAC address associated with second SSID and it is being seen by clients, but they still cannot connect. I reset the AP to default settings and reconfigured from scratch but still no luck. I have two of these APs, the other one is still at FW rev 2.0.1.0 and has same issue (it does have MAC address associated with second SSID so I didn't bother upgrading firmware yet).
I have tried a few different authetication options, including disabling authentication, to no avail. Question - I do not see an IP address associated with the second SSID - is that the problem and if so, how do I fix that?
I just got a WAP321 to replace a very frustrating WAP4410, what is the the SNMP OID to obtain associated wireless clients for each of the SSIDs ? I'd be happy with any OID for client numbers so total clients associated will be fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have a VPN setup between two Cisco RV082 routers, the VPN status shows as connected however I can't ping the other network. I am unable to ping between routers, let alone ping computers behind those routers.
We have 2 branches, branch 1 is on a static IP and branch 2 is Dynamic. I am able to connect via QuickVPN from Branch 2 to Branch 1 and remote desktop to computers, however have yet to VPN/remote desktop in the opposite direction.
To me it seems like a firewall issue at branch 2, but what's causing this. Also they are currently running 2 differnet firmware version not sure if this would cause a problem.
I set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts. I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3. Check it out. They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3. I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4. I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration. I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

We are trying to use a TL-WR941ND purchased about a month ago, but it keeps hanging, usually within a day or so of operation.To be clear: by "hanging" I mean the device stops providing wireless services (its SSID is no longer visible in WiFi clients) and becomes nonresponsive to pings or control access attempts (via settings web page) from the internal network connections.The device is used in a very simple scenario, where it's being employed as a simple access point, not as a router. As such, the device's configuration is as follows:
* WAN interface is configured with a dummy static IP (10.10.10.10/24) with gateway and DNS set to the internal IP address of the actual routing device connected to the external world.
* LAN interface is configured with an IP address inside the actual internal IP subnet (192.168.1.0/24).
* DHCP is also disabled as this service is already provided.
* Wireless settings: radio enabled, SSID broadcast enabled, WDS disabled, 11bgn mixed mode, auto channel width, max TX rate, channel 7 (manually set). Using WPA-PSK security.
Rest of the settings are unchanged from their default values, as the device isn't being used as an IP router by any client - just as a WiFi/Ethernet layer 2 bridge. We're using what appears to be TP-Link's latest stock firmware for the device.The settings described above appear to provide the connectivity required by the WiFi clients. However, the device continuously hangs within a day or so of operation, requiring someone to physically attend to the device and cold-restarting it (disconnecting it from power and reconnecting it) to regain an operational state.
After performing a cold restart, the system log shows nothing beyond the startup entries: "System started" entry followed by security info entries regarding enabled protocols. Then the device appears to work well for a while, until it hangs again, forcing again someone to attend to the device, etc.
In bridged network environment. We have a pair of Cisco 1310 bridges configued betweeen 2 buildings the config on each is simple one as a root bridge the other as non root no spanning tree is running and source route learning is turned off. We had both on in the past. One side of the network has a link out to the internet. About 3 -4 times a day the IP address on the default gateway becomes unreachable i.e cant be pinged. Only a reboot of one or other of the bridges corrects the issue. This happens only during the day when the netwrok is in use. When this happens everything inside the network works fine and everybody can see everybody else. The ISP can see intot eh network and can ping our devices but we cannot see out of the network.

So i am trying to Set up a wireless repeater so i can have a better signal in my back yard but i could not set the configurations for my repeater because the gateway (ip address? Not really sure what it is called) would not work when i entered it into the browser. So i went into command prompt to make sure i had the right gateway and it did not even exist.

Although i cannot remember if i caused it to start working again. My laptop wireless hardware has disabled itself. I have a win 7 netbook that I recently got and for some reason it suddenly cannot keep a connection to the internet. It used to keep a connection before but now I keep getting the error the default gateway is not available about every ten minutes while connected which of course is very frustrating.
I've tried updating all associated drivers but apparently that hasn't changed anything. I've tried restarting the computer and tried different connections. I know its nothing to do with the internet connection I'm trying to connect to as other devices are able to keep a connection with no issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using an E900 wireless router. The router is on the second story so I have to use a wireless router booster to enhance the signal strength. I have been using the booster for well over a month with no issues whatsoever; however, tonight I attempt to get onto World of Warcraft and I keep getting disconnected every 5 minutes. After I run the diagnostic it fixes the problem and says that the "default gateway not available". I tried restarting the router, restarting the booster, unplugging the wireless adapter, checked the firewall, and also restarted my computer.
