It worked fine before but now, the connection is only local, it's not connected to the internet. On the router, it says: Default Gateway: think that it should say instead.I tried dhcp release and renew but it didn't work. The firmware version is 1.01.22.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Default Gateway Not Available

Sep 16, 2012

I am currently using an E900 wireless router. The router is on the second story so I have to use a wireless router booster to enhance the signal strength. I have been using the booster for well over a month with no issues whatsoever; however, tonight I attempt to get onto World of Warcraft and I keep getting disconnected every 5 minutes. After I run the diagnostic it fixes the problem and says that the "default gateway not available". I tried restarting the router, restarting the booster, unplugging the wireless adapter, checked the firewall, and also restarted my computer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - L2TP Default Gateway?

Jul 22, 2012

How can I change default gateway and DNS's for L2TP type of connection? I've tried to specify them in static IP address first and then switched to L2TP as adviced in one forum, but it didn't work. I don't understand why such settings as Gateway and DNS servers cann't be specified as for PPTP connection. Firmware is 2.0.37.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54g2 Handing Out Wrong Default Gateway

Jan 19, 2012

I'd like to add a WRT54g2 to my LAN. I'd like it to communicate with my existing LAN router, and not to talk directly to the LAN. Therefore, in Basic Setup, I don't have the top part (Internet Setup) configured. Is that a mistake? But, it seems that when I enable DHCP, it hands out its own IP as gateway, and then doesn't seem to send the traffic on upstream. When I configure clients manually with the real router IP, they work fine.
So, I'd like, I guess, Linksys to forward traffic on a static route to real router. How do I do this? Adding a route to real router yields the error, "maybe default route already exists."

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Set Default Gateway On WRT310N In Access Point

Jul 28, 2011

I am using a WRT310N.  I have a Cisco ASA5505 as my firewall and don't need the routing capabilities of the WRT310N.  So I just plug the LAN port on the WRT310N directly to my LAN switch.  I just need the WRT310N to have an IP address for management.  So I configure the LAN with an IP address, but there is no way to set the default gateway on the LAN.  You can only set the default gateway on the WAN interface, which I don't use, since I am using this in an AP only type of configuration.

-Powercycling everything
-ipconfig/ flush DNS
-ipconfig/ release and ipconfig/renew
-Checking all the wires are pugged in fine (They are).

When I run a network cord from the modem to the wireless router and then a network cord to the computer, two things happen:I do not get a connection to the internet on my computer. With laptops and iPods that are trying to connect wirelessly, I can see that the wireless signal exists, and the devices can connect to the signal, but no internet connection passes through. There are no firmware updates that I can find for this device, I have powered the router on/off for 30 seconds, and I have used the reset button.

When using the router on the shipped DD-WRT firmware I consistently get "The default gateway is not available" error and I have to reset my wireless adapter on my laptop. This issue doesn't occur on my hardwired desktop or interestingly enough when the Buffalo router was switched to the "user-friendly" firmware the issue didn't occur either. Both times the router was on the DD-WRT firmware I've had the default gateway issue.

Wifi Router Not Assigning Ip Address Or Default Gateway?

Oct 25, 2012

hrome threw me a DNS lookup failed. I go into my network settings and I noticed that I had limited connectivity. It would switch between no network access and no internet access every few seconds. After a bit of fiddling around, I got it to connect through assigning myself a static IP. This isn't exactly convenient because I use this computer on multiple networks. When I try to have it on automatic IP, I get no IP address or default gateway when I do an ipconfig /all. It would appear that my router quit assigning my laptop an IP for no reason whatsoever. DHCP is enabled on the router, and all other devices work fine. What could possibly be the problem here? I'm 99% sure it's not an IP conflict either. It's not being MAC filtered because I'm on the thing right now posting this through a static IP. It's not my A/V because it's worked great in the past. Perhaps I should also mention it occasionally says "unidentified network" instead of the SSID

RSV400 Router / Using Default Gateway On A Vpn Remote Side?

Oct 17, 2011

I have a central office and two branch offices, these offices are connected by a private routing service that has no connection to the Internet, the telecommunications operator in each office installs a router with a LAN and a WAN IP and configuration of these devices cannot be changed except the LAN IP. Only the central office network that is have a router that has internet access. Remote offices have no access to the internet, what is needed is that remote offices can access the internet using ADSL router at the central office. There are a small devices in each remote office that must connect to the internet and do not support any configuration except IP, mask and gateway, for example you cannot add a static route. Currently the pc's at remote offices has IP communication with the server from the central office using a static route. put some VPN routers between each LAN and the operator's routers (where RT yellow star appears in the diagram) and put the hosts of the two branch offices same IP range that the central office network? I had thought to use RSV400 routers?

Cisco WAN :: 2511 Default Gateway Pointing To ADSL Router

Aug 1, 2011

I have a 2511 TS linked into my CCNP lab and configured it with default gateway pointing to my ADSL router. The TS has a staic local IP in my LAN also I have port forwarding set up on my ADSL router to direct all Telnet (not cofigured for ssh yet)  sessions to the TS.
The TS is linked to the ADSL router via the transceiver module ( CentreCom AT-210TS) which feeds the ADSL router with ethernet connection.I have tried to access the TS from a remote location but with no joy, fortunately I also have it consoled to my PC so I SSH to the PC and then run my terminal emulator from there.  Using SSH to the PC and then minicom to the TS when doe this way (Remote Location>Ubuntu>minicom>TS) I can see the ethernet interface has no MAC address when i do  a sh internet eth 0 mac is set to 0000.0000.0000.
I don't want to be connecting via ssh to PC before accessing the TS but instead just want to connect to the TS; for the life of me I still can't explain what's going on.

Modem And Router (D-Link DIR-601) DHCP Giving Out Wrong Default Gateway

Nov 6, 2012

So network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem ( and not of the Router ( I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.

And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:

IP Address:
Default Gateway:

And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Default Gateway Of VOICE Providers 2600 Router

May 21, 2012

We have two MPLS circuits managed by two different suppliers, one carries VOICE the other DATAWe are to decommision the VOICE MPLS and have increased the bandwith of the DATA MPLS to carry VoIP traffic too.

At both of our sites A & B ,devices connected to the LAN have a default gateway of the VOICE providers Cisco 2600 router , which then goes into the LAN switching. (see diagram)So what I am trying to achieve is toto simply replace these 2600 routers from the VOICE MPLS provider with our own so we dont have to change the default gateways at both sites.
Our Cisco 2600 routes are plugged into each LAN switching environment with two subinterfaces configured, one for voip and the other for dataThe problem is from the router and respective subinterfaces we can get to the other sites destination without any issue, but if for example a user is at site A with Ip address they cant ping the VOIP subnet at site B But If a ping is issue from the Site A test router then the subnet is reachable but only on the configured subinterface. So i guess what Im saying is from the LAN needs to be able to get to at site A & can communicate no problem and at site B & can communicate no problem. We are using IP routing, should we be using route-maps?

We have a pair of Cisco 1310 bridges configued betweeen 2 buildings the config on each is simple one as a root bridge the other as non root no spanning tree is running and source route learning is turned off. We had both on in the past. One side of the network has a link out to the internet. About 3 -4 times a day the IP address on the default gateway becomes unreachable i.e cant be pinged. Only a reboot of one or other of the bridges corrects the issue. This happens only during the day when the netwrok is in use. When this happens everything inside the network works fine and everybody can see everybody else. The ISP can see intot eh network and can ping our devices but we cannot see out of the network.

Cisco Wireless :: 2811 - Can't Ping Default Gateway

Jun 9, 2012

I'm trying to get a 2811 router with a NM-AIR-WLC6 Wireless Controller Module to work with an c1200 series access point. The LWAP is connected to a 2690 switch which has a trunk connected to the router. My configuration looks very similar to example 2 on this page: [URL] . The LWAP does get an IP from the DHCP pool on the router. I can also connect to the GUI of the controller from a PC on VLAN 250 (which also is connected to the switch).
The moment I join my Wireless network I get no IP and when I enter a valid static IP, I still can't ping the gateway. I also noticed that the controller could ping the gateway before I configured the interface. After configuring an interface with that gateway, the controller loses the ability to ping to it. I can't seem to figure out why. I've been working all week on getting this controller and LWAP to broadcast a fully working network.
