Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Set Default Gateway On WRT310N In Access Point

Jul 28, 2011

I am using a WRT310N.  I have a Cisco ASA5505 as my firewall and don't need the routing capabilities of the WRT310N.  So I just plug the LAN port on the WRT310N directly to my LAN switch.  I just need the WRT310N to have an IP address for management.  So I configure the LAN with an IP address, but there is no way to set the default gateway on the LAN.  You can only set the default gateway on the WAN interface, which I don't use, since I am using this in an AP only type of configuration.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using WRT310N As Access Point To Extend Network

Sep 5, 2011

I currently have a Linksys WRT310N as my primary router/wireless device. I am not getting coverage in my entire home. I was considering purchasing the Linksys E4200 and using the WRT310N as an access point in another part of my house to extend my wireless network. From all of the research and reading I have been doing, it seems that I must connect the WRT310N to the E4200 if I want to use it as an access point. Is this the only way? I have no way to connect the WRT310N to the soon-to-be E4200 unless I run an Ethernet cable across the floor. My goal is to use the WRT310N as a wireless access point without having it wired to the E4200, if at all possible. If this is not, what other way could I go about doing this type of setup?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Do Not Have Internet Access As Default Gateway

Nov 11, 2011

I have my E1200 connected to my Netgear FVS318 router (which is a wired router) and the Netgear is connected to the internet. When a wireless client attempts to connect to the internet after automatically receiving an IP from the E1200, they do not have internet access as the default gateway that gets assigned is the IP of the E1200 192.168.2.100, which is not correct. It should be assigned 192.168.2.1, which is the IP of the Netgear router. Thefore, I have to manually set their IP addresses to use 192.168.2.1. How do you configure the E1200 to assign the correct Default Gateway IP to wireless clients who want to use DHCP?

Linksys Access Point :: How To Setup AP To WRT310N

Aug 31, 2009

I have an EnGenius AP (EOC-2610) I want to connect to my primary router (WRT310N) to extend my network. how I must setup the WRT310N (and maybe the EnGenius) to make it all work together ?

Is the AP's IP should be static ? ie 192.168.1.2 (next to main router's IP)or should it be static in the the primary's DHCP range ? ie 192.168.1.101 or should it be dynamic the IP given by the primary router ?

Linksys Access Point :: WAP300N Conflict With Gateway / Router

Apr 27, 2013

I recently purchased and installed seven WAP300N access points in a school, but they are now having intermittent problems with network access, as of right now their network is completely unusable. Specifically there appears to be a conflict between these access points and the gateway/router which provides their network clients with addresses via DHCP; BUT in the three years I have been assisting them the DHCP server on their Cisco router has never before given any problems!

All WAP300N units are wired to the network acting as standard access points and setup to pickup their address automatically via DHCP. When the problem first arose I changed to offending unit to use a static IP address to avoid what I presumed was an address conflict; however the same problem now appears to be happening with the other units as well!

My understanding is that these WAP300N units do not have any in-built DHCP server capability, is this correct ?If not, how I can disable this feature.Otherwise, it would seem to me that the units must be incorrectly using the default gateway address which they are getting from the DHCP server as thier own IP address. Unfortunately assigning static IPs to each access point is not possible as these are controlled by another group and the existing allocation is now used up.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E900 - Default Gateway Not Available

Sep 16, 2012

I am currently using an E900 wireless router. The router is on the second story so I have to use a wireless router booster to enhance the signal strength. I have been using the booster for well over a month with no issues whatsoever; however, tonight I attempt to get onto World of Warcraft and I keep getting disconnected every 5 minutes. After I run the diagnostic it fixes the problem and says that the "default gateway not available". I tried restarting the router, restarting the booster, unplugging the wireless adapter, checked the firewall, and also restarted my computer.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54g2 Handing Out Wrong Default Gateway

Jan 19, 2012

I'd like to add a WRT54g2 to my LAN. I'd like it to communicate with my existing LAN router, and not to talk directly to the LAN. Therefore, in Basic Setup, I don't have the top part (Internet Setup) configured. Is that a mistake? But, it seems that when I enable DHCP, it hands out its own IP as gateway, and then doesn't seem to send the traffic on upstream. When I configure clients manually with the real router IP, they work fine.

So, I'd like, I guess, Linksys to forward traffic on a static route to real router. How do I do this? Adding a route to real router yields the error, "maybe default route already exists."

The wired internet works fine to this computer but no Wi-fi.I think the problem is the routers default gateway. It's supposed to be 192.168.1.1 but right now it's 24.191.112.1 .So far I have tried:

-Powercycling everything
-ipconfig/ flush DNS
-ipconfig/ release and ipconfig/renew
-Checking all the wires are pugged in fine (They are).

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT310N Stopped Permitting Internet Access To Device

Aug 19, 2011

My WRT310N linksys wireless router has recently stopped permitting internet access to devices connected to it, both wired and wirelessly. I have connected my broadband modem directly to a single computer (which is how I am posting this) and evidently there is nothing wrong with my internet service. I have tried restarting my modem, the router, and the computers I am trying to access the internet with, and it has not worked. Note that local communications work fine, I was able to ping another device connected to the router, and even establish a TCP connection. It is possible that the settings on the router have been changed without my knowledge, if so, however, I do not know which setting could be causing this.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP610N - Gateway Is Not Working

Sep 20, 2011

We have a several WAP610N Access points in our company since a few months and immediately noticed that it has problems with the gateway when you set it to use a static IP. (the AP loses its gateway when you pull the power). Today I saw that there was a firmware update, and in the firmware release notes it stated that the problem with the missing gateway info on the status screen was solved.

This info is correct. After updating to 1.0.0.2 the gateway is shown in the status screen when you use a static IP, but the actual function of the gateway is still not working after restarting the AP! I already let our reseller create a support call with Linksys a few months ago, but in the end they told me this would probably not be fixed and that I had to use DHCP.

No Internet Access Across PPTP / No Default Gateway

Jun 6, 2012

I am trying to set up a PPTP VPN connection which also provides internet access. I have the following configuration. The router named "Router1" connects 2 computers PC1 and PC2 on the LAN side with a network address of 192.168.1.0/24. It is a PPTP server and a DHCP server. It gives IP addresses to PC1 and PC2. It has a static address of 192.169.1.2 on the LAN side and a static address of 10.2.9.1 on the WAN Side. PC3 has a static address of 10.2.9.2 and is connected to the WAN port of Router1. "Router2" is connected to the LAN side of Router1 and it has a static IP of 192.168.1.1. Router2 is connected to the internet and provides internet connection to PC1 and PC2. PC1 and PC2 connects fine to the internet and can see each other. However, PC3 cannot connect to the internet even though it is connected to Router1 by PPTP VPN connection. PC3 can see PC1, PC2, Router1 and Router2 but it cannot connect to the internet because Router1 does not give it the default gateway(192.168.1.1) to connect it. When PC3 connects via PPTP, It receives a correct IP address(10.2.9.3), correct DNS addresses but the ip4 default gateway field is left blank, and the DHCP option is not enabled on connection properties of PC3. Router1 is a DD-WRT firmware router (DLink Dir 400) and has PPTP server enabled as a service. How do I get Router 1 to give PC3 a default gateway IP? And how do I forward all outgoing packets from Router 1 to Router 2? I do not need port forwarding for some ports, I need full access to the internet from PC3 though the PPTP connection via Router2.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT310N Does Not Retain Configuration?

Sep 17, 2012

our WRT310N router does not retain any configuration given to it. When we reset the device, it goes back to its factory settings. In that state we can access the device (http://192.168.1.1), make some changes and save it. The changes include giving it a different name from the default, and setting a password for the connection. However, when we try to use it for our wireless network, we cannot connect to the internet. Checking the Connection Status in a Windows XP  laptop, we found out that we have been given a gateway different from what we have set the device into and thus a different set of IP addresses for each of the device.

Also at this time, we cannot access the router anymore (via 192.168.1.1 or via the gateway provided) and thus having no choice but to reset the device again. We then reinput the configuration desired, save it, restart the systems (both PCs and router) but after a few moments (initially it retains the settings chosen) we won't be able to connect through the Internet and find out that the router has a different configuration again. We also tried letting the device "rest" but the same problem persists.
