i am using a tp link 8817 modem, i can go online normaly but i can not access the default gateway (192.168.1.1, i check it in cmd/ipconfig) it keeps asking me username and password, althought i filled them with the correct username and password.
View 2 RepliesSo network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem (192.168.100.1) and not of the Router (192.168.0.1). I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as 192.168.100.2 but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.
And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:
IP Address: 192.168.0.155
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1
And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?

I figured out that I can only enter an IP Address with the range 192.168.1.* when port forwarding on the modem, ie I cant enter 192.168.0.100 for the PC.Is there any way of Port Forwarding to the PC?

What ended up happening is that after the modem and router came back online all the computers on my wired home network changed their default gateway to the IP of the modem and not the router. Two of the computers are fixed now, but one of the laptops is still not able to get to the internet using DHCP. I can use a static IP with the correct default gateway for the router, and succesfully get to the internet, but then I can't see my server on my netowrk. And the same is true in reverse, in order to see my server I have to go back to DHCP, but I can't get on the internet
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my desktop using a TP-Link WN722N USB wireless adapter to connect to my modem router. I get to browse for about a minute before I get dropped. Windows Network Diagnostics tells me that the problem is that the Default Gateway is not found, and then restarts the Wireless adapter, reconnects, then the cycle of browsing for a minute and disconnecting continues. None of my other computers that are wireless are facing this issue. I have the latest drivers for the wireless adapter. I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed. This is the ipconfig /all when it is connected to the internet.

I am having connection issues with my laptop involving my wireless adapter (I assume), since I am able to connect to the internet via a different laptop, Xbox and phones in the household. It is a Dell M5010 and the problem has only recently occurred.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy TP-Link 8817 which is connected to my ASUS RT-N66u appears to be blocking my ports. I port forwarded on my router to set up a server. I do have the right IP and ports set up. Originally i thought it was the router but then "netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 rn_p=8050dc14" appeared in the modem log but nothing in the router log even though i turned on the "logged packets type" to Both. I have googled this error but nothing came up so I'm probably just doing something stupid. I have even tried turning off the modem firewall and SPI, but still no luck.

I've configured a number of remote access vpns on ASAs, but I don't recall having a default gateway setting assigned after logging in.
Is there a way to disable the assignment of a default gateway upon login?
The value assigned is meaningless. It's just the next available address in the local pool.
I am using a WRT310N. I have a Cisco ASA5505 as my firewall and don't need the routing capabilities of the WRT310N. So I just plug the LAN port on the WRT310N directly to my LAN switch. I just need the WRT310N to have an IP address for management. So I configure the LAN with an IP address, but there is no way to set the default gateway on the LAN. You can only set the default gateway on the WAN interface, which I don't use, since I am using this in an AP only type of configuration.

It should be assigned 192.168.2.1, which is the IP of the Netgear router. Thefore, I have to manually set their IP addresses to use 192.168.2.1. Just now I bought this router. When I am trying to configure it with default firmware is not identifying the modem itself. So Afyter facing this problem, I updated my Router firmware(TL-MR3220_v_2_120822) and retry the process. But this time, It identified the modem for few seconds, then its changes its trying to connecting, after that its change it state to unplugged.
I have somthing to ask about the ADSL modem and wifi router. (I am using Windows Xp) I have 1 ADSL modem, TP LINK TD 8812, with 2 port, LAN and USB, on the modem has 5 blinking lights, USB, LAN, ADSL, Internet and Power, I use USB port for my laptop, so that 4 lights were turned on, except the LAN's, I also have a wifi router, TENDA w316r, which is connect to the modem by LAN port, when it's connected, the LAN's light in the moden will turn on. That's what it usually works. But now, when I connect the router to the moden, the LAN's ligh on the modem just flashing then turn off right away, it works fine on different machine. I don't know why, I think it's software problem. What do you guy's think about that ? About the gateway, the modem has 1 gateway, the router has 1 gateway, too. At first, when I connect the router, I can only access to the router's gateway, when I disconnect the router, I'm back to the moden's router, how to fix that ? I want to sefl control which gateway I can connect. And now, I just can't connect to any of the 2 gateway, the router's gateway, since the LAN's light on the moden not turned on, I think that's where it begins. But the modem's gateway ? I can connect to the internet as usually but I can't access to the modem's gateway, whenever I type "192.168.1.1" (modem's default gateway) a window appears (Authentication Required) then I fill the username and password with the right infomation, then click ok but it still appears after and after and after that, when I click cancel, then browser says "Protected Object" and I can't connect to modem's gateway.

I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. My Mac colleagues do not experience problems. The computer works at home and at nearly every other wireless network I've brought it in range of. Specifically, either IBM or Dell.

I recently got a new laptop and ever since, the internet goes in and out. Most of the time it is not out long enough to display the no connectivity icon or stop music from streaming but it is noticeable. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gateway is unavailable. I tried manually setting the connection information but the same thing keeps happening except the troubleshooter then says that DHCP is not enabled. I have little knowledge of computers but I'm not sure that what my ipconfig is showing is supposed to be there. Can I be able to use the ASA, not only as a security appliance / firewall, but also be able to write the access lists, etc, to be able to use this as my router to push packets to and from my internal LAN to the outside world? I guess I should have stated as this being the front end device to my network, just after my DSL Cable modem, that is..and being the only device. I am trying to have this as my main router /firewall solution and then I have an old Linksys router I will pipe off one of the L2 ports to have an AP for my wireless devices? Is this a real solution an ASA can provide?
