Limited Or No Connectivity And No Default Gateway

Aug 28, 2012

after reinstalling Windows XP SP3 my Local Area Connection just cant connect to the internet, it just keep saying Limited or no connectivity, which have never happened before after a fresh Windows XP SP3 install. I'm using wired connection, cable goes from my BT Hub to my desktop. I've tried different cat 5 cables, reintalling network driver, all those ipconfig /release, /renew,/flushdns, netsh int ip reset log and so the list goes on.... I've tried lspfix.exe & Winsockxpfix.exe and none of them fixed my internet connection. I've also tried safe mode with networking to see if ill be able to connect to the internet but still no luck. Below is a netsh int ip show config & ipconfig /all commands:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
I:Documents and SettingsOwner>netsh int ip show config
Configuration for interface "Local Area Connection 5"
DHCP enabled: Yes

Jan 5, 2013

Region : SpainModel : TD-W8968Hardware Version : V1Firmware Version : got an ADSL connection with Movistar Spain, static IP. When I configure the TD-8968 all works well, it syncs but does not connect to internet. When I diagnose the connection the modem pass tests at ATm level but is not able to find the default gateway. I got another modem (the one to be substituted with the 8968) that it works with the configuration I am triying to use. Is there some step I am missing or is the modem faulty?

No Internet Access Across PPTP / No Default Gateway

Jun 6, 2012

I am trying to set up a PPTP VPN connection which also provides internet access. I have the following configuration. The router named "Router1" connects 2 computers PC1 and PC2 on the LAN side with a network address of 192.168.1.0/24. It is a PPTP server and a DHCP server. It gives IP addresses to PC1 and PC2. It has a static address of 192.169.1.2 on the LAN side and a static address of 10.2.9.1 on the WAN Side. PC3 has a static address of 10.2.9.2 and is connected to the WAN port of Router1. "Router2" is connected to the LAN side of Router1 and it has a static IP of 192.168.1.1. Router2 is connected to the internet and provides internet connection to PC1 and PC2. PC1 and PC2 connects fine to the internet and can see each other. However, PC3 cannot connect to the internet even though it is connected to Router1 by PPTP VPN connection. PC3 can see PC1, PC2, Router1 and Router2 but it cannot connect to the internet because Router1 does not give it the default gateway(192.168.1.1) to connect it. When PC3 connects via PPTP, It receives a correct IP address(10.2.9.3), correct DNS addresses but the ip4 default gateway field is left blank, and the DHCP option is not enabled on connection properties of PC3. Router1 is a DD-WRT firmware router (DLink Dir 400) and has PPTP server enabled as a service. How do I get Router 1 to give PC3 a default gateway IP? And how do I forward all outgoing packets from Router 1 to Router 2? I do not need port forwarding for some ports, I need full access to the internet from PC3 though the PPTP connection via Router2.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 8.3(2) 5505 / Remote Access Vpn Default Gateway?

Jun 28, 2011

ASA 8.3(2) 5505

I've configured a number of remote access vpns on ASAs, but I don't recall having a default gateway setting assigned after logging in.

Is there a way to disable the assignment of a default gateway upon login?

The value assigned is meaningless. It's just the next available address in the local pool.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Set Default Gateway On WRT310N In Access Point

Jul 28, 2011

I am using a WRT310N.  I have a Cisco ASA5505 as my firewall and don't need the routing capabilities of the WRT310N.  So I just plug the LAN port on the WRT310N directly to my LAN switch.  I just need the WRT310N to have an IP address for management.  So I configure the LAN with an IP address, but there is no way to set the default gateway on the LAN.  You can only set the default gateway on the WAN interface, which I don't use, since I am using this in an AP only type of configuration.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Do Not Have Internet Access As Default Gateway

Nov 11, 2011

I have my E1200 connected to my Netgear FVS318 router (which is a wired router) and the Netgear is connected to the internet. When a wireless client attempts to connect to the internet after automatically receiving an IP from the E1200, they do not have internet access as the default gateway that gets assigned is the IP of the E1200 192.168.2.100, which is not correct. It should be assigned 192.168.2.1, which is the IP of the Netgear router. Thefore, I have to manually set their IP addresses to use 192.168.2.1. How do you configure the E1200 to assign the correct Default Gateway IP to wireless clients who want to use DHCP?

Default Gateway Not Available

May 3, 2012

Periodically, I drop internet everywhere around my college's campus. I'm literally four feet from a router, but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll disconnect, run troubleshooter, and I'll get the error message saying that the default gateway is not available. My college is designed for Macs, but I'm running Windows 7. My Mac colleagues do not experience problems. The computer works at home and at nearly every other wireless network I've brought it in range of. Specifically, either IBM or Dell.

Dell XPS 15
i7-2720QM
8gb Ram
Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1
540? Something around 500 Nvidia graphics card

Ipconfig results:

Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

Default Gateway Is Not Available?

Nov 30, 2011

I recently got a new laptop and ever since, the internet goes in and out. Most of the time it is not out long enough to display the no connectivity icon or stop music from streaming but it is noticeable. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gateway is unavailable. I tried manually setting the connection information but the same thing keeps happening except the troubleshooter then says that DHCP is not enabled. I've disabled every firewall I can find and updated all the drivers available. Here is my info:[CODE]

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Page Has Reverted To Default

Feb 24, 2012

I have a Linxsys WRT54G.  Once every week or two, it seems to "forget" its name, and revert to the default name.  When I try to access it with my laptop or phone, "Multivac" is gone, and "Linxsys_XXXXXXX" (where XXXX are random numbers and letters) has taken its place.  When I go to the setup at 192.168.1.1, the "Router Name" on the first "Basic Setup" page is still "Multivac," but the "Network Name" on the second "Wireless" page has reverted to the default.  If I change it back to Multivac, everything is fine for a week or three until it "forgets" again.

At first I googled and learned about ipv6 addresses because i found that weird but i think that checks out fine. I then googled about the weird numbers and letters in my default gateway and came up empty. Is there a reason thats there?

No Internet Or Default Gateway

Even my laptop shows Local Area Network as connected. However, for some reason, I am not able to access the internet. I was able to use it till last evening, but suddenly the internet stopped working. On Google Chrome, it says that there is no DNS or something.Subsequently, when I tried to access my modem settings, it shows as 'webpage not available'. I then noticed that there is no default gateway! I was able to access it the day before, but now I can't.
