Linksys Wireless Router :: Default Gateway 0.0.0.0 With WRT54GX2
Nov 9, 2011I have a WRT54GX2 router and my laptop is connected wirelessly to the router. It worked fine before but now, the connection is only local, it's not connected to the internet.On the router, it says: Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0.I think that it should say 192.168.1.1 instead.I tried dhcp release and renew but it didn't work.The firmware version is 1.01.22.

And I'm also going to connect a new TV to Internet.I have the router WRT54GX2 version 1.sometimes the XP PC has a good internet connection, but on the Windows 7 laptop, I don't have the internet connection. And if I look at the list of the Wireless Network connections, I don't see mine!So can I do something on the router to fix this problem? Or should I buy a new router which can work well with 3 PCs (with Windows 7) and 1 TV connected at the same time?

When I run a network cord from the modem to the wireless router and then a network cord to the computer, two things happen:I do not get a connection to the internet on my computer.With laptops and iPods that are trying to connect wirelessly, I can see that the wireless signal exists, and the devices can connect to the signal, but no internet connection passes through. There are no firmware updates that I can find for this device, I have powered the router on/off for 30 seconds, and I have used the reset button.

Jan 8, 2007I have a wrt54gx2 with srx 200 technology recently purchased. I havetwo cabled computers attached. One at one end of the house attached tothe router by ehternet cable, the other attached about 100 ft by ethernet cable.The wireless does not reach to the other end of the house, most likley because that part of the house is an addition with masonary walls and a large masonary firplace. I bought a wap54g access point at the recommendation from someone at linksys to attach to the end of the ethernet run. Since my set up is macintosh, I can't use the wizard disk that came with the wap54g. Linksys support was not support( not expected), I need to know what to do to get this up and running. I am new to this stuff and Linksys get the wireless router with ethernet installed and up and running with my dsl. I thought the same for the wap54g.

We're about to change main desktop computer to an iMac (2011 refurb, won't be running Lion which I know there's issues with as far as Cisco Connect), give the 2006 Dell to kids and get rid of the old 2003 box. I cannot locate my installation CD, I'm sure it's somewhere in our rather cluttered computer area, although I understand I can download what I need. This probably is a dufus question, and I apologize in advance, it's just not clicking in my mind, but basically am I going to have to go back to step one, just like the first day I set up the router, as far as setting up our network?

It's been awhile since I installed the old router and I remember something about not using the CD as it says before plugging in the new router because it messes everything up. All of my computers are running XP Pro SP3 with 2 of them being wired.
I remember something about just plugging the router in and typing in 192.168.1.1 in my browser and then setting everything up that way. Am I correct in doing this or am I forgetting something?
Oh, I am also running Network Magic so would I also have to reinstall it?

Aug 7, 2012Got the cisco EA4500 router, installed it and ran the set up disc. It downloads whatever it needs to download, then proceeds with a progress bar all the way to 100. Then it tells me my internet cable is unplugged, but I able to browse the intrnet, like now. It tells me to plug it in and hit next, I hit next and it eventually gives me the same message. I've tried unplugging my modem, resetting the router etc. But when trying to run the disc when it gets to that point it always tells me my internet is unplugged? I can even browse the internet while that message is up.

I have downloaded the updated files and when I go to install the software, I get to the section that says, "plug in the adapter." At that point, it says it can see the adapter and it sits for 3 minutes trying to complete the install. The I get error 211 which says the adapter is plugged in wrong and to try again. I notice that the adapter is set up with drivers in the Hardward Management area of Windows, however, I cannot access the adapter to set it up. Thoughts? I have also tried to manually install the drivers but they are installed. The trouble is I can't see the adapter.

Nov 30, 2011I just installed windows 7 on my wifes new com and the device couldn't detect any connections using the default drivers (windows called it an nvidia wireless network card). I downloaded the drivers put them on her hd via flash drive and attempted to update the device drivers through the device manager but it says the drivers are already up to date. I uninstalled the device and windows called the device MCF-J415W and when I tried to update the drivers again it said the drivers were not correct. I'm not sure what is going on here and why linksys doesn't just have a .exe driver installer. I've had the same issue with my wife's computer when it had win xp except it didn't have any generic drivers to install. Also I tried selecting the driver from the list of pre-loaded drivers and found one for the exact device but it would not install those either.
