3560x Assign Default Gateway To Dhcp Clients?

Jul 8, 2013

I have the dhcp server setup and working on our main 3560x.

The only problem is that it is not assigning the dhcp clients a default gateway.

I was not able to find it in the Cisco documentation and a google search is not useful either.

From the firewall I don't see the ARP  table  from the firewall. and i cannot ping the AP. what is wrong with the configuration? side note, i am able to connect to the AIR1131AG from my laptop I was not able to retrieve an IP address.

Modem And Router (D-Link DIR-601) DHCP Giving Out Wrong Default Gateway

Nov 6, 2012

So network was running fine for about a year or so. Network consists of 1 Motorola SB6120 cable modem attached to a D-Link DIR-601 wireless router. All settings were default except for SSID and WPA password. One day I just couldn't access internet anymore. I've narrowed it down to the default gateway that is being given out through DHCP. The default gateway that is being given out is the IP of the modem (192.168.100.1) and not of the Router (192.168.0.1). I can't find any option on Wireless router to be able to force the gateway address when handing out the gateway IP. Theoretically I thought I should be able to put router on same subnet as modem as 192.168.100.2 but that still doesn't work. If I set the IP adresses statically on the PCs and give it the Gateway of the Router everything works fine. I should mention this is for my boss' house and basically I dont want him calling me everytime he has a friend come over and I have to talk em through setting up a Static IP.

And just for an example this is what I get if I use DHCP:

IP Address: 192.168.0.155
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1

And If I want it to work I have to change the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 I've tried updating routers firmware and reset to factory default numerous times. Is it possible for a router DHCP stop working?

Cisco Routers :: RV042 - DHCP Giving Out Wrong Default Gateway And DNS Server

Oct 3, 2012

I have a RV042 router. The problem that I am having with it is that the DHCP is giving out the wrong Default Gateway and DNS Server. There is no option to change the DHCP server IP on any of the settings pages on the router. I am begining to think that there might not be a way to do it.  I see that there is an option for the DNS under the DHCP page but the Public IP that is being handed out is not the one on that page. I also have 2 WAN connections hooked up as well a DSL link and a Cable link (the cable link is the primary one).

The following information is provided in an effort to resolve this issue:
IP of Router 10.0.0.2
IP of DHCP Server (the one that is being handed out):10.0.0.1
IP of DNS (the one that is being handed out): 10.0.0.11

What I want to it be.
IP of Router: 10.0.0.2
IP of DHCP 10.0.0.2
IP of DNS 10.0.0.2

I am stuck at a very early stage in the configuration of 3560x switch. It seemed very unusual and that is the reason, I configured basic config for line con 0 with login local. And then I had just put "enable secret xxxxxx."

Now I simply logged out and when i tried logging in, it is asking for a username. Now the thing is that I had not programmed any username. I tried using just "." followed by my secret password, but it did not work.

Cisco Wireless :: Why AP 500 Doesn't Assign IP To Clients

Mar 13, 2012

We have cisco ap 500 series, it was lightweight, but we migrate it to standalone, now, the scheme is simple. We have a router 2811 and dhcp created on it, also we have f0/0.30 virtual interface with ip of 10.10.30.1.On switch one interface (trunk) goes to router f0/0 interface, and one interface (access) goes to ap.On AP we have BVI interface with 10.10.30.10, and default route to 10.10.30.1.So when we connecting to our SSID, it connect but doestn receive DHCP, and takes APIPA address, why ap doesnt assign ip to clients.

Cisco Firewall :: 3560X Gateway Address For All Of Current Devices

Jul 18, 2011

I have an AT&T Router that is my gateway to the internet, I have no access to it.  I do have the inside ip address of it which is on my private LAN.  Just for shiggles we will call it 10.25.240.1 255.255.248.0.  That is my  gateway address for all of my current devices.I have this shiny new ASA that I want to throw in there to eliminate a proventia and a sidewinder.

The diagram shows two stacks, these are my virtual server clusters with 3560X switches with the vlans configured, and several more switches all configured with vlan 832,  connected to a 2950, which is connected to my internal 2600 router.  I have 4 Vlans running on 4 different ip ranges, all controlled by the internal router, with only one vlan, let's say 832 that is trunked to the outside world.  That vlan has 172.16.1.x 255.255.0.0 network attached to it.  All is well, and traffic is routing behind the internal router, but I cannot seem to figure out how to get the traffic to pass thru the ASA. Cisco VPN :: 5550 Assign Static IP To VPN Clients In Redundant VPN Infrastructure

May 23, 2011

We have a Highly available VPN infrastructure across two data centers. We also use ACS 4.2 servers for authentication. The ACS servers are in teh same "cluster" in a Primary and Secondary fashion.  Site A has primary ACS and primary ASA 5550 IPSec VPN termination. Site B has secondary ACS and redundant ASA 5550 IPsec VPN termination. We also use InfoBlox for DHCP IP address assignments. The two IPSec VPN Head end devices, ASA 5550s, they use different subnets for IP pools for the VPN Clients. Site A uses x.x.24.0 and Site B uses x.y.24.0. As indicated VPN clients authenticate using teh ACS 4.2 Radiius server. I can assign static IPs per user on the ACS server but this can only work for the primary site. Once static IP address is assigned on primary ACS for a user, this status will be replicated to the secondary ACS on Site B. When the Primary IPSec VPN Head End ASA or Internet fails on Site A, Clients on DHCP will work fine seemlessly via Site B. But for the static IP users, you have to change the Assigned Static IPs to match the subnet on Site B. How I can assign static IPs to clients via both Sites without manual intervention. Either via DHCP or ASA. I was trying to stay away from creating multiple Groups for VPN and also avoidng creating local ASA users because these options will not scale well as static user base increases. I need users to get a static IP address from Site A subnet when connected to Site A and get a static from Site B subnet when connected through Site B.

Cisco :: 1921 - DHCP Configuration / Assign Fixed IP To One Device While Assigning Others?

Jun 19, 2012

This is IOS 15.1(4)M3 on a 1921 router. The LAN is 192.168.42.1/24. (DHCP config is further down.) We have a small range that we want to assign via DHCP to devices; .200 through .220 . At the same time, we have a handful of Macintosh systems to which we want to assign a specific address that is not in that 200-220 range. I don't want to configure the assignment based on the Ethernet MAC addresses because these systems might connect via UTP or wireless; that is to say, they have more than one MAC address. They only ever connect using one interface/MAC address at a time, but it's their choice; in some areas wi-fi is available, and in some areas they have to cable-up.

The Mac OSX network settings has a field for "DHCP Client ID". It would be much easier to tell the users of these systems to put their Mac's name in the Client ID field for both their wired and wireless DHCP configs. (As opposed to having them all lookup, and then give me their Ethernet MAC addresses for both of their interfaces.) I tried this with my Mac's (named "shrike") wi-fi interface, but I don't get the 192.168.42.14 address that I expected. I get an address from the .200 to .220 range.

Here's the DHCP-related config from the router:

router#sh run | s dhcp
ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.42.1 192.168.42.199
ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.42.221 192.168.42.254
ip dhcp pool OurOffice
network 192.168.42.0 255.255.255.0

[code]....

Is "client-name" the wrong place to configure the DHCP Client ID?
