After configuring DHCP, all the users needs to get IP from USER VLAN and all the servers should get IP from SERVER VLAN. If yes, what are the steps as I am very new in this kind of configuration.
I haven't worked with infrastructure much lately but planning on replacing a Dell switch used for a small iSCSI SAN with a Cisco 3560x. Switch is sstorage ONLY, network handled through different switches. I believe I want to disable spanning tree and configure trunking for the 4 GB ports connected to the storage array. The switch is providing connectivity to SAN via multiple GB connections and then also multiple GB connections to 3 Vmware hosts. Can you look over the changes I made to config below and let me know if I am on the right track.
I also plan to add a second switch later with the 10GB modules to interconnect for redundancy (but not worried about that part for now). I do not plan on using jumbo frames.
Here are my questions
1) Is the best way to globally disable spanning tree for the switch?
2) Did I trunk the ports correctly below?
3) Should I apply any specific SmartRoles to the 4 SAN NICs (GE1-4) or to host NICs (GE13-20)?
4) Anything additional I should do to handle iSCSI data?
Here is a copy of the config so far with my changes marked in RED.

Do you have the ability to setup DHCP servers on this layer 3 switch? I know I can with my old 3550 switch. Want to upgrade and make sure this model supports setting up dhcp servers on it.
I Have a problem I'm trying to configure automatically my switch over ther DHCP when I start the switch it request an IP from the DHCP from here everythings is fine but it does nothing more, indeed I put on my dhcp the option 66 and 67 which is an adress of my TFTP server and a file to download and the switch seems not to understand theses options , I tried my dhcp with a cisco airport and everythings works fine the File from the TFTP is automatically downloaded into the airport...There is an option to add or am I missing something in order to make it work with my switch ?
I need to configure a Cisco 2960 switch as a DHCP server. The current IP address will be on a different seed than the DHCP addresses. i.e.
Switch IP = 10.1.2.3, GW = 10.1.2.1, Subnet = 255.255.255.0 DHCP addresses would be 192.168.1.1 - 200, GW=???? (10.1.2.3?) and subnet would be 255.255.255.0
I have two 3560x Catalyst switches setup between two different locations. They link via a PTP line (Layer 2). I have setup Intervlan routing between the switches and that works fine. Each location has a separate subnet and a Windows DHCP server for each subnet.I want to block any DHCP requests to be sent from hosts on one subnet to the DHCP server on the other side (i.e across the PTP link) What is the best method to do this?
I am trying to configure EIGRP on my ASA DMZ Interface - topology as follows: [code] The ASA is currently configured for EIGRP with the inside 3560x switch and passing routing updates properly. However, the ASA will not send/receive routing updates to/from the DMZ 3560x switch - the two devices do establish eigrp neighbor relationship. We have a small site that has an Avaya voice switch connected to a c3560x switch. The avaya tech told us to set this on our ports to which the phone and the desktop are connected.
I was viewing the 3560x switch datasheet and i need network module C3KX-NM-10G. I have dark fiber with over 12 km distance to i guess i will be needing SFP EX for single mode.
I acquired a 3560X-24P-L Switch which I wanted to use at our datacenter. However, I need a switch that supports OSPF. It came with a Universal IOS but there was no "Router" command under conf t. I downloaded and applied the latest "IP Base" IOS, but still no Router OSPF. Based on the matrix here > [URL] I thought "IP Base" supported OSPF, but what exactly is "OSPF for routed access" ? Do I actually need an "IP Services" IOS? From my download options, I do not see an IP Services IOS for the 3560X-24P-L so I'm left to assume that the switch does not support L3 / OSPF. So my question is this particular switch supports L3 / OSPF and what is Universal IOS?
I am trying to join a Cisco Catalyst 3560X-24T-L to an existing VTP domain, my question is what configurations should I do to this switch?I have already gave it a hostname, setup passwords, enabled telnet, created a management address on port g0/24.I would like it to be on VLAN 13, is this done from my server switch, or done on the new switch?
i have a cisco 3560x poe. ny currnet version is 12.2(58)SE2.the cpu process is aboute 30% average.my problem is- ping to the switch itself show me 12ms which is high latency.*note- data between two hosts no this has no latency.i realize the packet go into the cpu itself but, the cpu is not loadedusy. so my question is- is this natural behavior?
i have an issue to connect a trunk between cisco switch and extreme switch i have many vlans that i want to cross via a link between cisco 3750 switch and a Extreme Alpine 3800 switch
I can't seem to find any info on how to configure 2 DHCP server pools on a C3750, to use with 2 user vlans. The purpose is that users in vlan 1 should get an IP address from DHCP server1, and users in vlan 2 should get an IP address from DHCP server2. Both DHCP servers are configured in a stack of C3750 switches, which acts a a L2 switch.
I am trying to configure two 3845 routers to act as dhcp server and dhcp relay. Clients are connected to the router that relays all dhcp requests to the vrf instance which is used to connect it to the router wich is running dhcp server.
Router1 ip vrf dhcp_dns rd 8:1 int gi0/0 ip vrf forwarding dhcp_dns ip address 192.168.200.5 255.255.255.248
[code]...
So far I can see dhcp requests coming from the R1 and dhcp server on R2 replies with the dhcp offer but PC is not getting any ip.
Is there a way to configure a DHCP server for my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 which is on a 3550 layer 3 switch from my 5505 ASA Firewall. My subnet of 10.1.1.0/30 is connecting my 5505 to 3550. All I'm trying to do is run a DHCP server down to my hosts. The only options on ASA 5505 is
dhcpd address 192.168.20.1 - 192.168.20.254 outside or inside, which conflicts with my subnet of 10.1.1.0 used to connect my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 for the whole network.
When I used my router it did not need the (inside, outside) keywords and just an ip helper-address command. How do I configure my my firewall DHCP server to propagate the 192.168.20.0 network through my 10.1.1.0 connection.
I currently have a the following configuration and am unable to get more than 2 DHCP addresses for the devices connected to the Cisco new SG 100-16 Switch. The AP have no trouble handing out DHCP to the wireless clients, but we are unable to get the SG 100-16 to be able to do the same thing to wired clients. It is currently connected to the 2960-8 in port 1. We can get 2 devices connected without a problem, but the 3rd machine and beyond do not work. Also, setting up a static IP does not work. Using a static will not even allow us to ping or tracer back to any devices beyond the SG 100-16.
I am using DHCP/TFTP to autoconfigure a 3945 router. The router properly obtains an IP address and finds the correct TFTP server. The issue lies in the download of the configuration file from the TFTP server. The router downloads the file, gives the "Ok" message, and prompts you to press Return to get started. When I view the running-config, several commands are missing from the Serial 0/0/0 section (HWIC-2T). If I modify the config file on the TFTP server to use Serial 0/0/1 instead and repeat the process, the configuration file loads without any issues and Serial 0/0/1 has all of the commands.
I also tried moving syntax around in my config file, but the end result is still the same. If I use Serial0/0/0 - I don't get all of the commands. If I use Serial 0/0/1, I do.
How to configure cisco 3560 to force the client only can get ip by dhcp-relay server ?
The company i am working in has 5 vlans which have been set an lay-3 switch(3560), uses the dhcp-relay server .(in svi configuration: ip helper-address X.X.X.X) well , that works ok~
Now , I got my problem: I need to force the client only can get ip by dhcp-relay server, that means if anyone set static IP manunally , he can't really access to anywhere (to provent anyone set static IP with malignancy )
I know if a h3c router , how to set this configuration n svi configuration : dhcp relay security address-check enable ) the how to configure on a cisco 3560 ?
I have made a topology by using one 3560 switch and 2 2950 switches. I have also made 2 vlans name Clients and other Servers and vlan 1 is for anagement purposes. The left 2950 switch is for clients and the right is for servers. Clients is vlan 2 and servers is vlan3 . Now what i want is that my dhcp is should assign ips to clients in vlans 2 provided that servers are in vlan 3. I am also using a border router and i have introduced a default route on the 3560 to the border router.
Now when i assign static ips to my clients pc and server dhcp then i can ping between vlans but when i try to assign ip through dhcp then it wont work. Also the default route on the switch to the border router doesnt seem to work. I can ping only the border router when i put a default route on the border router instead of the 3560 switch.
I have a cisco 3560 24PS and its connected to two ADSL broard band routers.one is a personal broadband line using a Billion ADSL broadband router, and the other is a business broardband line using BT's 2wire broadband line.on the Billion routers i have various things attached like a NAS and a printers, both wired connections. then i have laptops and phones that connect over wifi, so its configured to act as a DHCP server
the only thing conncted to my 2wire router is my company's laptop (wired or wifi depending on where i'm working from), so again i have it working as a dhcp server. The switch is configured with multiple vlans, with dhcp scopes assigned for each vlan.I have a static route pointing all traffic to my Billion ADSL for internet connectivity.
The problem i'm having is that when i turn on the cisco switch, all wifi conected devices loose their conection. only 2 things get it working again, a reboot of the router, or disabling then enabling the DHCP service on the router.upon further analysis i was able to find out that the devices were not able to pick up an address from the router. again i looked deeper into this and i can see the following on logs of my router: [code]
so it seems that the router tuns off its DHCP capabilities because it detects that my Cisco switch is running DHCP services. I need to figure out how to keep the billion routers DHCP running when ever the switch is turned on.is there a way of filtering out any DHCP chat from the switch to the router?
I have two WAP4410N plugged into my Catylist 3560 switches. One of these switches is my Default Gateway for the LAN.The only way I can get a device to connect to the WAP4410N is by assigning it a static IP. Then it works perfectly.
I am looking for a way to bind between a switch interface (cat 3750X) and a DHCP server reply. The switch can operate as the DHCP server .a PC connected to interface Gi 1/0/1 will lways get IP address 10.0.0.1 because it is connected to interface Gi 1/0/1, a PC connected to interface Gi 1/0/5 will lways get IP address 10.0.0.5 because it is connected to interface Gi 1/0/5 and so on... (no matter the source MAC address who sends the DHCP request).
I am having 2960 switch and one port is configured with a VLAN and connected with an unmanageable switch and further one more unmanageable switch was connected to the primary unmanageable switch…
The topology will be 2960 switch -> unmanageable Switch -> unmanageable -> PC connected
The issue I am facing most of the PC are getting IP addresses through DHCP server and very few 5 or 6 PC’s out are not getting the IP from DHCP server. If I switch of the switch and switch on the issue is resolved for those and it will raise for some other PC’s.
I'm attempting to configure a Catalyst 3560-X Switch to act as a DHCP Server. There is documentation that supports this feature. Below is my config procedure however after the completed procedue no IPs are handed out to clients. [code]
I got one SF 300-48 layer 3 switch I tried to configure to use it in the office network.Unfortunately I'm unable to configure the VLAN settings.I need port one for input(VLAN2),port 7-15 for another vlan(vlan3) also need to connect with the vlan 4.port 15 is another vlan(vlan4) this is for wireless.Other ports are static. It doesn't get any connections with other vlans.I wish to know how to configure vlans in GUI mode.I tried , But I can't get the Vlan setting correctly. Also,I need to know how to communicate both vlans in GUI mode.
