I am trying to setup an E3000 router and extending the network with a WAP4410N acting as a repeater.
I am faced with the same problem and it looks like it all comes down to this: without the WAP4410N having a physical connection to the LAN, it will not connect to the E3000 as a wireless client whether it's configured in AP mode: WDS Repeater or in client/repeater.
I've tested with various permutations that have been explored in the various discussions: matching channels/bandsmatching and non-matching SSIDs matching security settings using site survey to set the mac address of the E3000 (ensuring it's the MAC of the 2.4Ghz wireless)setting a static IP on the WAP4410Nensuring both devices are on the same subnet. Any way to be truly successful with this pair up of E3000 & WAP4410N or is it simply a technical product limitation?
We are looking to deploy two Nexus 7009 cores at our two datacenters. They are approximately 2 miles apart. We are hoping to have 10G Dark Fiber between the buildings and therefore dedicate a pair for FCOE between the cores using 10G Long Range SFP's. I read that the Nexus 5000 series had a limit of ~3 km for FCOE. Does the same hold true for the 7000 series? I thought I read somehwere that the buffers were larger on the 7000 series and therefore would be able to do ~30 km.

Cisco 871W router
2x WAP 4410N APs running 2.0.3.3
I currently have 1 AP connected to the router via copper. The AP to AP link is over 802.11. I have attached a diagram reflecting the current topology.
The AP-to-AP link will come up utilizing B/G/N mixed mode; however, the connection is basically unusable. About 30% of the traffic is dropped, while the packets that do make it have a consistently volatile latency, anywhere from 15 to 1500 ms. I have had success using G-only and B/G mixed. The link is stable (I have had the best results with B/G). The problem is, I didn't buy the 2nd 4410N to run the G protocol. I would like to connect the APs running either B/G/N (hopefully negotiating to N) or N only. I am wondering if there is a certain configuration I can utilize (perhaps using WDS repeater or bridge versus Wireless Client/Repeater?), or a firmware upgrade set for release that can make this happen for me.
I want to make a wireless connection between me and my friend, and the distance between us is about 1K . How can I do that ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a decent sized wireless network (120 1142 access points on a 5500 WLC) and any tips for maximizing the coverage. I know the only REAL way to fill true holes is to deploy more hardware, but I'm not sure if my WLC is configured properly to maximize the hardware already deployed. We have having a lot of issues with low signal in areas I feel are close enough to the AP that they should be good if not excellent signals. Our initial walkthrough and testing of the areas indicated that the APs we deployed SHOULD have been more than enough, but in real-world conditions it seems like it's not cutting the mustard.

I'm thinking a 3502p mounted just inside the wall hooked to a ANT25137NP-R patch antenna mount on an exterior wall. The red line on the wall will represent the antenna mounted on the wall. This will be providing coverage for phones on 5Ghz and general devices on 2.4.

I have a client family who will be moving into a big one floor (but on a giant slope hill as if it had two floors) house. About 88 feet seems to be the longest distance from a small room with the new cable modem. This is based on Google Maps' aerial shot: [URL] Longest Distance FromACableModemRoom.jpg (right side/east is a huge hill with trees). Will an old wireless Linksys WRT54GL router be able to handle this far distance with fast speeds and stability? If not, then which wireless routers can do it? It would be nice to have third party firmware options like Linksys WRT54GL routers. Also, fast speed like gigabits for fast local file transfers between computers in the big house! 100mb/sec is slow these days! Stability and support are important too. The routers doesn't need to be the latest too
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy router (D-LINK DIR-655) is in the living room under my TV in a cabinet with the lid closed (i would like to keep it that way, because the DIR-655 has the brightest led lights ever). My ground floor coverage is decent except in my back yard where i only get 1 bar or lose signal (we are talking about 10-15m distance). I am using mixed G & N mode with auto 20/40 MHz. In the past i had full bars in my back yard using a Linksys WRT54GL (Wireless-G) with DD-WRT firmware.
I have the following devices connected on my router: ISP MODEM / DREAMBOX / HTPC / DNS-325 / TV
1st Floor: I don't have any wireless coverage here, sometimes one bar but keeps dropping. This is where i would like to expand my wireless coverage in the whole floor.
2nd Floor: Here is my attic which i don't basically need any wireless. My main concern is in the 1st floor.
I am facing this particular issue while providing Cisco unified Wireless solution to the customer. We are having CAPWAP 1252 APs controlled by WLC.
Scenario: 50 persons sitting in a hall with closely packed chairs using wireless simultaneously. Wireless access provided by patch antenna at a height of 11m from the user. As one AP can server 25 users, 2 APs are placed with antenna directions facing the compact users. Each users gets very good signal from these two APs.
Whether there will be serious interference and client association issues in this scenario? once one AP associates 25 clients, whether other 25 clients associate completely to other AP?
i have an Outdoor Area covered by Cisco Wireless LAN Solution (WCS,WLC,1550AP root and Mesh lightweight). I need to disable power transmission for some of these APs in the 2..4GHz.I tried two possible way, but both are not working:
1) Set the power of 802.11g/g/n to 0. There is no such option (power can be set manually from 1 to 5 and, as per the documentation, each level is a reduction of 3dB. Therefore, even if i put to the minimum, i cannot guarantee that there is no utilization of the 2.4GHz spectrum).
2) Define an AP group containing these APs and don't add any SSID. Is not possible because at least one SSID must be added on each AP group.
Working solution/setting in AP/WLC/WCS to avoid transmission in 2.4GHZ? Otherwise the only solution is to power them off?
I have an integrated 881W with a built in 801 access point. I'm interested in increasing the range of my AP. I'm interested in considering any configuration changes while still maintaining support for N. I've included a copy of my running config. As well, I've heard of high gain antennas. I'm using the default antennas that came with the 881W. If there are better antennas that I can buy to increase my range, I'm interested in considering that as well.
