I have TWO spare Linksys Wireless Router (WRT350N-Wireless-N Gigabit Router) and (WRT54G2-Wireless-G Broadband Router) that I need to use to expand my wireless network at home.
How can i connect the two routers to became an access point or range expander to existing router. It is possible the two spare routers became an access pt or expander? How can i configure that? Cable configuration?
I just upgraded my router from the WRT54GL to the EA6300, and it appears there is less coverage with the new unit. Previously, my neighbor could share my router and now with the EA6300 my phone switches to 4G at the end of the driveway. Has anyone seen any specs which publish to output of the ea6300?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBoth use the same encryption (WPA2-Personal), same channel and they are tested in the same location with g-only mode. Only one router is switched on at any one time during the test. When 3 g-client notebooks (of various brands) are associated with the E4200, the signal indicator is a single bar, wherelse they can get 3 bars with the WRT54G (in the same location). For Internet speed test on a 20Mbps link, WRT54G is able to substain about 10Mbps, but only 1-2Mbps with the E4200.
Is such difference in performance between the two router models normal? Is there any configuration required to tweak the E4200? Or is it a hardware related issue with E4200?
The E4200 has been updated with the latest available firmware as of yesterday.
we are currently using a modem router LINKSYS WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL Router but are not satisfied. lots of dead zones and I think that there are too many users for this AP. last count gave around 20 users. so I'm looking for a solution to be able to handle 20+ concurrent connections and with large coverage - 600 m² .

Cable modem is located in the basement so i would like to have one of the routers connected to it and use another router as bridge. So which router would be best to use a bridge. If i use ea4500 as a bridge then i would lose dual band features of it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought two E4200s with the intent of using the second as a wireless access point to maximize coverage throughout my house. I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.
Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy router (D-LINK DIR-655) is in the living room under my TV in a cabinet with the lid closed (i would like to keep it that way, because the DIR-655 has the brightest led lights ever). My ground floor coverage is decent except in my back yard where i only get 1 bar or lose signal (we are talking about 10-15m distance). I am using mixed G & N mode with auto 20/40 MHz. In the past i had full bars in my back yard using a Linksys WRT54GL (Wireless-G) with DD-WRT firmware.
I have the following devices connected on my router: ISP MODEM / DREAMBOX / HTPC / DNS-325 / TV
1st Floor: I don't have any wireless coverage here, sometimes one bar but keeps dropping. This is where i would like to expand my wireless coverage in the whole floor.
2nd Floor: Here is my attic which i don't basically need any wireless. My main concern is in the 1st floor.
I have a decent sized wireless network (120 1142 access points on a 5500 WLC) and any tips for maximizing the coverage. I know the only REAL way to fill true holes is to deploy more hardware, but I'm not sure if my WLC is configured properly to maximize the hardware already deployed. We have having a lot of issues with low signal in areas I feel are close enough to the AP that they should be good if not excellent signals. Our initial walkthrough and testing of the areas indicated that the APs we deployed SHOULD have been more than enough, but in real-world conditions it seems like it's not cutting the mustard.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been tasked with providing wireless coverage for an outdoor courtyard. The wireless that bleeds out into the courtyard is minimal for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands. I'm thinking a 3502p mounted just inside the wall hooked to a ANT25137NP-R patch antenna mount on an exterior wall. The red line on the wall will represent the antenna mounted on the wall. This will be providing coverage for phones on 5Ghz and general devices on 2.4.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am facing this particular issue while providing Cisco unified Wireless solution to the customer. We are having CAPWAP 1252 APs controlled by WLC.
Scenario: 50 persons sitting in a hall with closely packed chairs using wireless simultaneously. Wireless access provided by patch antenna at a height of 11m from the user. As one AP can server 25 users, 2 APs are placed with antenna directions facing the compact users. Each users gets very good signal from these two APs.
Whether there will be serious interference and client association issues in this scenario? once one AP associates 25 clients, whether other 25 clients associate completely to other AP?
