Linksys Access Point :: Connect And Configure WAP54G Access Point To New Cable Modem?

Nov 1, 2012

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Access Point To Maximize Coverage Throughout House

Jan 27, 2012

I bought two E4200s with the intent of using the second as a wireless access point to maximize coverage throughout my house. I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.

Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54G Access Point Unable To Connect To More Than One PC?

Apr 25, 2011

I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.

The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.

I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.

Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

Linksys Access Point :: Configuring WAP54G With Existing Netgear Wireless?

Apr 26, 2013

Having some problems connecting up my "new" AP My current set-up consists of a Netgear "Virgin Superhub" cable modem/wireless router, a ZyXEL WRE2205 (repeater) in the hall on the first floor, and Ethernet connections through to a number of rooms, including the loft. I can't get wireless access in the loft, and I want to put the AP up there, connected through Ethernet. I want to use the same SSID and security for the AP as on the router and repeater so I can roam around(!) That's possible isn't it?What I've done so far (which hasn't worked) is connected via laptop to AP, set AP into AP mode(!), set the AP to dynamic IP, set the SSID / security the same as the router/repeater, plugged the AP into the Ethernet and tried to connect.

Linksys Access Point :: Share Laptop Wireless Connection Over WAP54G?

Jul 16, 2011

I'm trying to share my existing wireless connection over a WAP54G with the latest firmware, on Windows 7 on a laptop. Basically, the laptop is getting a wireless connection from my Sprint Card, but I need to share a wi-fi connection with an iPod I'll be using to validate tickets.  Unfortunately, there is no option to share the wireless connection when I click on the Properties for the connection. When I put in my WiFi settings, the iPod is able to login to the AP, but it cannot obtain an IP.  It keeps doing this.  Same thing happens with my Samsung Epic which runs Android.  I can access the AP manager, and can configure it.  Have tried using no security, but still no dice.  Even turned off the firewall.

I can surf the internet on the laptop, but I simply can't share the connection with the AP. This is really important as I'm trying to get it setup by next weekend!

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gs V7 And A Wap54g V3.1 - Unable To Get IP Address From Access Point

Mar 1, 2012

I have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1.  Both have latest firmware on them.  I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address.  is that right?).  I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses.  They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2.  I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet.  I cannot get an ip address from the access point.  I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet.  Am I missing something in the setup?  Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54G - Can't See Wired Network Devices With Wireless Connection

Mar 3, 2011

I work at a small business that has an exisiting wired network. Our setup is: Internet > ISP Box > DHCP Server > Switch > Users. I have been attempting to add a wireless router to the network to enable our shop techs to wirelessly access our file computer. I have managed to get the wireless working, but the network was not visible, I could not access any network computers from the wireless, and I could not access the wireless router from our main server. After this I screwed up the settings completely and even a wired connection to the router couldn't connect to the internet. Now I have purchased a WAP54G, but I forsee the same problems when I go to config everything tomorrow.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using WRT310N As Access Point To Extend Network

Sep 5, 2011

I currently have a Linksys WRT310N as my primary router/wireless device. I am not getting coverage in my entire home. I was considering purchasing the Linksys E4200 and using the WRT310N as an access point in another part of my house to extend my wireless network. From all of the research and reading I have been doing, it seems that I must connect the WRT310N to the E4200 if I want to use it as an access point. Is this the only way? I have no way to connect the WRT310N to the soon-to-be E4200 unless I run an Ethernet cable across the floor. My goal is to use the WRT310N as a wireless access point without having it wired to the E4200, if at all possible. If this is not, what other way could I go about doing this type of setup?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Getting WAP54g To Repeat (extend) Signals

May 15, 2013

At one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp enabled. I have a WRT54G router plugged into that firewall with DHCP enabled. The scope of our inside network is 192.168.51.***, however when connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1.***We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the antenna ports on the router. This whole setup works fine.

The problem is we need to install an access point WAP54G in a building across the property (picks up router wireless signal fine) to repeat the wireless signal to the back of the property where the router will not reach. I have read that all you need to do is type in the wireless mac address of the routher into the access point and select "Wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration. When I try to connect to the wireless network on the access point, It never gives me an ip in the 192.168.1.*** scope, which the WRT54G is configured to give out. Also, in this setup does the WRT54G need to be set to router or gateway mode? I do not need it to distribute ip addresses. [code]

Linksys Access Point :: Can't Connect To WAP54G

Feb 19, 2011

My Linksys Range Extender died.  So I bought a WAP54G thinking that I could use it as a repeater to extent the range of the signal from my router to the other wireless PCs in the house.

1st floor:
PC1 connected to a WRT54G  v.5 router
PC2 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter
Laptop connected to PC1 royter via internal wireless

2nd floor
PC3 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter
PC4 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter

The main goal is to set up the WAP54G in between PC1 and the other PCs to extent the range of the signal particularly to the 2nd floor PCs.The instructions for configuring the WAP54G are fairly straightforward, but the first issue I run into is not being able to connect to the WAP54G web setup.  I am using the following instructions:

[url]...

once I configure or setup the WAP54G through another PC as a repeater, will I be able to disconnect it from the PC and use it as a standalone (e.g., plugging only the power in and leaving it in my kitchen or a hallway) to extend the range of the signal?  Or does it have to stay connected to PC1 and does PC1 always have to be on for this WAP54G to act as a repeater?

Linksys Access Point :: Wrt54gx2 With Srx 200 - Configure WAP54G With A MAC?

Jan 8, 2007

I have a wrt54gx2 with srx 200 technology recently purchased. I havetwo cabled computers attached. One at one end of the house attached tothe router by ehternet cable, the other attached about 100 ft by ethernet cable. The wireless does not reach to the other end of the house, most likley because that part of the house is an addition with masonary walls and a large masonary firplace. I bought a wap54g access point at the recommendation from someone at linksys to attach to the end of the ethernet run. Since my set up is macintosh, I can't use the wizard disk that came with the wap54g. Linksys support was not support( not expected), I need to know what to do to get this up and running. I am new to this stuff and Linksys get the wireless router with ethernet installed and up and running with my dsl. I thought the same for the wap54g.
