I tried updating it with the Cd and it said it was up to date. The computer is a Compaq presario and is about 14 years old. I looked in device manager and there were no? s or !s in adapters.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT600N wireless router. I just bought a Linksys AE1000 wirless adapter to add wireless capability to my Hewlett Packard PC. I am able to see and connect to my G-Band (2.4) with no problem, but the adapter can't connect to the N-Band. It see's it, but can't connect to it. The signal strength shown is good, but it still can't connect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout 10 months ago I got a new computer, with it I got a the Linksys AE1000 wireless adapter. At first all was fine, no blue screens. About a month after I got all my game and such installed (I am a bit of a gamer) I started to get bsod error 0x0000000D1 in the middle of my game. I wasn't sure the cause of the problem, so at first I ignored it. I started to get the same error more and more frequently and the same cause of the problem. I believe that the wireless adapter is the cause of the problem, but alas I can never be sure..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a client family who will be moving into a big one floor (but on a giant slope hill as if it had two floors) house. About 88 feet seems to be the longest distance from a small room with the new cable modem. This is based on Google Maps' aerial shot: [URL] Longest Distance FromACableModemRoom.jpg (right side/east is a huge hill with trees). Will an old wireless Linksys WRT54GL router be able to handle this far distance with fast speeds and stability? If not, then which wireless routers can do it? It would be nice to have third party firmware options like Linksys WRT54GL routers. Also, fast speed like gigabits for fast local file transfers between computers in the big house! 100mb/sec is slow these days! Stability and support are important too. The routers doesn't need to be the latest too

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using my wireless adapter..a Linksys AE1000..to connect to a friend's ATT U-Verse high speed internet for a few weeks. Due to a petty argument with his girlfriend..I overheard her and her friend and discovered that she had logged into the Uverse router/modem (192.168.1.254), which shows all devices that are connected. On this page it has links to access files for each device. Clicking on that, she was able to read all my files. Nothing to hide, I just don't like snoopers and even wonder if she could change settings or do something to mess up my computer. I cannot figure out how to block access by her Uverse thru my Linksys wireless adapter.
I normally do not allow any sort of file sharing and everywhere I have looked on my PC, nothing is enabled to file share or remote desktop share or anything like that. I'm not a total noob but have no clue if and how I can change this on my end so that she cannot get into my PC while I'm connected to their internet. Their router/modem is a 3800HGV-B.
I recently bought an AE1000 wireless adaptor, but I have run into a problem. The range on the device is very low, as the only way to get full signal is when the router and device are right next to each other.I have read that this could be due to the device operating on 5.0Ghz frequency, and that this setting is changed through the Cisco Connect software. This software was not in the Setup CD, and the online installer did not install the software either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking for the Maximum Power Settings Spec for the 3600 AP. The one from 2008 is too old. Does an update exist? The AP Spec itself does not show power levels by channel and regulatory domain which is what I need. If I can't get the spec, I will have to query the AP using "show ap config 802.11x apname" for each config I need.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently started (slowly) upgrading my computer. I have an older desktop, and I'm wanting to eliminate the ethernet cable so I can put my desktop anywhere in the house and not have to worry about running cables. I really can't afford the faster internet at this time and I'm having issues with streaming movies. So I really don't want to lose what speed my internet does have by switching to wireless. The USB adapter is less expensive by a few bucks, but I'm worries it might just stop working randomly, or be slow in comparison to a PCI card. Another issue is with my old motherboard, I only have 2 pci slots and one pci-e slot, I've ordered a new sound card, just installed a video card. So I only have one slot left, and I was wanting to put a TV tuner in that spot.
Should I get the USB (300mbps is what I'm looking at) or should I just get over wanting to put a tv tuner in and just get the card and install it? Just wanting some general advice on what more advanced users think of it. I've seen pci expansions online but that was just way out of my price range, and do not want to have to buy a new motherboard.
When I get to the screen that asks for the the security password, and after typing in password then at the bottom their is a button for Back and one for Cancel. The button in the middle for Next is not highlited or clickable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7-64 bit. The AE1000 works great so far, in the one day I've had it, and it appears to start itself and connect when turning the computer on (unlike other people on here that I've seen). BUT, it's all pointless if I can't put my computer into standby. The adapter kicks it right back out as soon as I try to sleep the computer.
I've checked the device settings and "allow the device to wake the computer" is unchecked (in fact, it's grayed out). I rarely turn off the computer; I much prefer to just put it in standby. I don't want to have to unplug the adapter every time I do that.
We're using our Sprint hot spot and want to make a wireless connection to the TV...can I use the AE1000 for this? If not, what do I need to use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a hard drive failure recently and replaced my HDD with an identical HDD (WD 500 AAKS) and did a restore from my WD Passport Essential. Everything works as before except I can't install my AE1000 wireless adapter. The OS recognizes the new hardware and I attempt instalation form the setup CD. Istallation goes until it gets to the "Installing" step and then it just stays there forever until it comes back with an error. I am accessing the internet now through a cat 5 ethernet hook-up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBought the AE1000. Hooked it up to my desktop computer (Sony VAIO), and it immediately recognized my wireless network in my house. However, when trying to log on, it asks for the network key, which I correctly enter and it attempts to log on, but fails to connect! I have called Linksys, and they claim it is my ISP's fault. I called Comcast (My ISP) and they claim it is a faulty product.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco Linksys WRT120N wireless router in one bedroom. On another bedroom which is hardly 15 feet away, I have set up my laptop to connect to it via a Cisco Linksys AE1000 wireless USB adapter. There are two thick walls between one bedroom and another.
Neverthess I find AE1000 dropping connection all the time. There are times I unplug the laptop and take into the same room as my router but it still doesn't connect. The wireless strength constantly varies from Very Good to Excellent but no matter what I try AE1000 never connects to it. If I restart my laptop, sometimes it does connect.
All in all its very frustrating that two Cisco products can't communicate effectively with each other.
P.S: I have both my ASUS tablet and my verizon droid both connecting to the wireless router from the same room as my laptop without any issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using my AE1000 for about a month now with absolutely no problems. Yesterday it just stopped working, I removed it from the USB port and just about burned my fingers on the metal part that plugs into the USB port. BTW I am on Windows 7 64-bit.
Now it won't work. I've tried reinstalling the driver and the device just blinks in the "Devices and Printers" control panel. I removed it again and it was very hot to the touch after only being in the port for about a minute.
When I insert the disc for my new AE1000, the setup opens automatically and begins to run. Before even letting me read the software end user license agreement, I get a screen that says the following: "Our Customer Support team can assist.Your Linksys Adapter was not successfully set up."I can not figure out any way to keep this message from showing up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased two of these units. One used with a quad core AMD rig and another with a single core AMD rig. Both systems are running Windows 7 but the older single core system is having issues. I noticed that I keep hearing the sound of a USB device being disconnected but wasnt sure what it was until I noticed when I try to copy large files over wireless the AE1000 disconnects from my system like I've unplugged it. I've swapped the two units and it didn't solve the problem. My newer quad core doesn't experience the issue at all. I've also tried different USB ports but that doesn't solve the issue either.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer is a desktop in a differet part of the house, away from the main computer. My computer is hooked up with an AE1000 Wireless USB. This USB is wirelessly connected to a Netgear Extender (Repeater) for a better signal strength. This Repeater is wirelessly connected to the router on the other side of the house, plugged into the main computer.
So my problem is, when im working on my computer or gaming on my free time, it randomly disconnects. My signal has a (!) inside of a triangle at the bottom right of my screen. I run the automatic troubleshoot on my Win 7, and it says either "DNS server not responding" or "Your computer is working properly, but some of your devices are not responding". Other times it works just fine and i run troubleshoot alot and it doesnt find a problem. Some days its running at 144 Mbps others 6.5...
I have checked that all of the devices are uptodate. .I've contacted GeekSquad and they said there was no problem. But obviously for them to connect to my computer the wireless has to be working, so they didnt find anything because it worked for the time being.I'm just woundering are there any capability issues with my wireless? Or any other problems im not aware of?

Ive been reading the forums up and down about this device and i notice other threads with users having the "Exact" problem im having. Only problem is im noticing a simaalar theme to ech of those threads. The issue doesnt have a resolution.
With that said i figured i would give this a try regaurdless. The problem i have is very simple.
Windows 7 Yltimate 64 bit.
Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
Proc: Phenom x6
Ram: 8 Gb
Ive tried all USB ports (2.0) on the computer and they all exibit the same said behavior. This being that when you turn the computer off, restart it, or put it to sleep...the AE1000 will not power on and has to be unseated from the USB port and then reseated before the device is seen by the system and then and only then does it fire up, connect and work perfectly.
The drivers i have used have been the ones off the CD, Then i removed those and downloaded the ones from the website. These drivers have been installed after removing the entry from device manager manually after attempts to use the normal method resulted in the same behavior.
Also i have installed this device on my Dell E6400, Dell D620 Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and 64 bit and they also exibit the same exact behavoir.
I am trying to connect a linksys adapter AE 1000 in my XP SP3 but during the CD-instalation appears that error:
AppName: setup.exe
AppVer: 1.1.10049.0
ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.3541
Offset: 00012a6b
And then a microsoft error windows shut down the installation.
I 'm very happy with the AE1000 & got it to work with my A31p by using a USB 2.0 adapter; (it only has USB 1.0) I think the ThinkPad PCMCIA card is faulty because it only works for a brief time & then dies (works fine with current machines)--then I noticed that the newest driver supports USB 1.0 but exactly how is that file implemented? I don't see .exe files, etc, & want to try to use the new driver--I'm using the latest XP--is there a step-by-step tutorial describing how to use the new driver?
