I am looking for the Maximum Power Settings Spec for the 3600 AP. The one from 2008 is too old. Does an update exist? The AP Spec itself does not show power levels by channel and regulatory domain which is what I need. If I can't get the spec, I will have to query the AP using "show ap config 802.11x apname" for each config I need.

My question is about the maximum possible transmitting power in a Cisco 1242AG-E-K9.I did an update of my AP on a new ios version and since then, the maximum power for me is limited to 17 dbm. I check this within the console and the "show controllers dot11radio0 | include Power:" command. I thought that I had 20dbm before the update, but unfortunately I can't proof this by myself because I have no AP left with the old firmware.
Is it possible that the upgrade did this? I read about the regulatory domains for the transmitting power. I live in Switzerland, so I thought I could use 100mW if I want to. I read it's not possible to use the 100mW at each speed but I think I should stull be able to select the 20dbm/100mW or am I missing something?
I will be doing a site survey using the client's Cisco 1262 with only 1 radio (g/n), 3 antennas. What is the maximum transmit power, 20dBm or 23dBm? I need to set the transmit power in the Airmagnet to 50% or 3dBm down as recommended by Cisco.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a deployment of AIR-CAP35021 APs. They are in 2 buildings with multiple floors. They are installed in a row down the hallways. I want to increase the power levels by using the controller and not configuring the APs individually. I have set the TPC value to -50 but I still do not reach the outer walls of the floors in some areas. I need to know what to set the Max Power Level Assignment or Min Power Level Assignment to to get the APs to power up some more. If the MAX value is 30 and the default is 30 then how to adjust that value?

We were having issues where the primary controller would software reset (according to show sysinfo), the secondary (HA SKU) would take over and then after a few hours the secondary would also software reset and the primary would take over. Also I notice that after this happens that the Tx Power Control doesn't seem to adjust the A radio settings, most of the radios are at the 6 level. Normally they are 1, 2, or 3. Last week I upgraded to 7.3.112.0, later that day the same thing happened.

Currently I am wired through it with my desktop and its working, but not much else.
I am trying find out what the nominal power draw is for the following switch. The installation manual and data sheets says that the power draw for the units are 15.1W and 15.7W maximum at 18VDC. I am trying to use the switch for a solar application (12VDC) and would like to find out what the nominal draw would be when the device is in standby or if all of the ethernet ports are unused. I plan to use the two fiber SFP's and one copper port.

I upgraded my 3602i survey ap the other day to the public image the other day and I have to say.. I've got it up and going of course, but I have a concern on the transmit power settings. Originally, the only option it gave me was MAX and -4, which I hadn't seen before, interesting.. -4 of what? 20? 17 probably or I though? At any rate, I went into the CLI to set the power manually, no issues there, though my options are not what I expected, maxing out at 25mw basically, which is fine but.. in setting it manually in CLI, the web interface reports an Error on transmit power. So.. does this work or not? Any survey with this image to verify it's power settings? 15.2(23c)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the WAG320N and initial setup (Wizard) went fine ....(I selected all the defaults as presented to me so I did not afterwards modify anything on the settings)However ...when powering off (and back on) the device , my Dreambox Sattelite units (DM500) could not get access to the internet anymore (outbound) on port 12000.All other internet traffic went fine ...through browser, wireless, ...all Ok.....I tried everything to resolve but ultimately only succeeded in re-configuring from sracth. powered off the device and brought it back up ....same symptons.Did a hard-reset (back to factory defaults), reconfigured through wizard and ...all Ok again .....until I powered the device off and back on .....I have come to a point now where I excluded all possible 'surrounding' disturbing factors (eliminated switches etc ....and only connected 1 Dreambox unit directly to the device) and ....same symptons ....when powering off/on, the dreambox cannot get out anymore and re-configuring from sracth resolves ....until the next power off/on.And ...it is really the power off/on handling (reboot procedure WAG320N ?) that is causing it .....(I disconnected the DSL line and put it back in , forcing the modem to reconnect DSL and then all still works Ok ). ? View 5 Replies View RelatedOur DIR-615 has started freezing and when reset (power cycled), it reverts to factory settings.This has been running 24/7 for several months with no problem. Three days in a row now I've woken up to find our home network is down and the DIR-615 status lights are "yellow". Power cycling the DIR615 resolves the problem however the DIR-615 looses its settings, reverting to factory defaults (looses the admin password, wireless settings, etc). I can reload the settings from a file saved on my computer but needless to say, this is a bit annoying. I don't believe there are any wireless clients connected at the time as most of the wireless is served by an airport two floors up. There are several wired devices always connected:
a Zoom ATA carrying our "land line"
a tivo (doing whatever tivo boxes do)
a SSL based Voip phone (different than the zoom ata)
an AirPort Express 802.11n (bridge mode) which may have a couple of wireless clients
a laptop which may or may not be sleeping at the time
There are a couple of ethernet switches in the network.Some of the devices acquire addresses via DHCP, others are assigned fixed addresses outside the range of the DHCP addresses served by the DIR-615.Nothing has changed on the network in months.
The only settings I've messed with on the DIR-615 are:
a) set the admin/user passwords
b) Set the wireless network name, enable WPA, set the WPA Key
c) enabled ntp (this is now disabled and I've set the time manually)
d) Change the network base from 192.168.0. to 192.168.4.
The DIR-615 is hardware rev E3, Firmware 5.10 The cable modem (from RCN) is a Scientific American model DPC2100R2

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
I got a few Cisco Aironet 3602i. The minimum WLC version to support these is 7.1.91.0. I am planning to upgrade to 7.2.103.0. The minimum WCS version to support these WAP is 7.0.220.0 and the next available 7.0.230.0. Checking the release notes for both of these WCS versions, there is no mention of support for WLC versions listed above.

Can you use a Cisco 3600 to do a P2P bridge? Using the MAP's ethernet port to connect to a remote LAN? On that remote LAN can you have lightweight APs that connect to a controller on the RAP side?

If my calculations are correct, the device can deliver 420 Mbps, which gives each client roughly 2.8Mbps. Is this correct?
if the mounting bracket for 3600 AP is the same as the 3500/1140/1040 mounting bracket? I'm suspecting it's not as you can get modules that fit onto the back of the 3600 APs.

It times outs on TFTP server when you hold the mode button (a 3500 is working fine doing the same thing).

I have an AP group on a Cisco 5508 WLAN controller. Currently, it is populated with 13 Cisco 1142 lightweight access points. When I try to add a Cisco 3602i access point to the group, I get the following error in NCS: Error: OfficeExtend requires primary, secondary, or tertiary controller management IP to be set.I am using DNS to allow my AP's to find the controller and they work just fine. Is there a reason I can't add the 3600 series AP's to the AP group?

Now I was trying to config a second interface ( port #2) and use it for the Guest SSID on a separate VLAN. After I rebooted the controller, it dumped all the APs. I would like to know if this is normal, If I need to enroll the APs everytime I reboot the controller.

I want to use the flexconnect in the same network where the wlc is located. Normally we will do it for over WAN and branch office. But I want to use in the same main office to avoid more bandwidth utilization on my distribution layer. Wlc is connected on Distribution switch.I want to do local switching in the access layer switch.
The below is the sample topology. But real topology contains nearly 200 AP's(3600 series) and 20 access switches and so on.....So there is a chance of 200 AP * 350 Mbps can flow on the distribution layer.So ,
1)If I use flexconnect any issues will be occuring?
2)Does it cause any impact on VOWLAN?
I am trying to build a bridge between two of my access points. Both the access points connected to the wireless controller. I have changed the AP mode to "Bridge" after changing the power to custom.
The access points have both rebooted - but never "joined" the controller again. I have checked on the following pdf.

One thing I can see - if I run a ping to the last IP.. every now and again I get a single response then it drops again. Via the console on the access point I can see it's getting to the controller, getting its name then reading something that caught my eye

All 3500/3600 APs, had been in production for months.
I've got a client who purchased numerous 3600 series AP's (3602i to be exact) and would like to add them into their WLAN 4404 controller. They're currently on 5.x system code so I plan on getting them upgraded to the latest 7 code.
They currently have a number of AP's adding and working fine. Once the WLAN controller is upgraded, does anything specific need to be done within the WLAN gui to add in these new 3600 series AP's?
