I need to know their maximum distance (at least theoretically, in Line of sight, eliminating all other factors...) in order to choose the right number of AP to provide enough coverage for a specific area. As the the 3600 is the higher specification model, is it safe to assume the reverse? I.e. a site survey carried out using 2600 access points is valid for a 3600 deployment, or is this too simplistic?

Apr 9, 2013I have a strange issue with clients connected to a WiFi network.I have configured AP in FlexConnect mode and 2 SSID's. After a reboot of the AP the network is stable for almost 45 mins. Then each client will go UP and Down, mostly with a delay of 5 mins.
What could be the source of this. The clients are Windows CE handheld with fixed IP adres. I already configure persitent client and have play arround with APR timers as well. Thereby an Windows desktop or an iPad has less connectivity issues but even they expert pakcteloss once in severall minutes.
Session timer is turned off
The iPad for example can play music, but each 5 mins you hear a little hickup and 2 subsecond ping are loss.
Controller version is 7.3

Dec 22, 2012We have a few 1500 outdoor mesh ap's. 1262N are used to link to these 1500 and extend the coverage to places. All 1262 was configured as mesh. But upon installation, none of them actually register to the controller and join the other mesh ap's. They should be joining to the 1500's.
On testing, the 1500 joins the 1262N as mesh. however the 1262N does not join the 1500 as mesh even though the distance is less than 20m.

Aug 30, 2012I bought some hardware and created my own lab to prepare for the CCNA. I only have one machine with a serial port and whenever I try to connect to a router (I've tried multiple purchased from different sources) nothing happens on the screen. If I wait for a couple of seconds and hit enter I get the response shown on the screen in the screenshot I have inserted. If this image is too small I have also attached. looks like it has already asked me this but I am unable to see it. Shouldn't I see some information when I attempt to connect, some acknowledgement that I have connected? I have tried using both hyperterminal anbd PuTTy.

Since only one AP mode can use option 43, I've added a DNS entry for cisco-lwapp-controller in my local domain.My assumption here is that the new 3502's will be able to use DNS for discovery, while any additional 1131AG would continue to use DHCP option 43. will this work in a mixed environment?The new AP briefly showed up on my controller, but then disappeared. The LED is cycling red, green, off - indicating it is still in the discovery process. Could I effectively remove the option 43 in DHCP and have all AP's use DNS? Is this as reliable as option 43? What is the best practice for discovery?

Oct 23, 2012We have many remote offices that we want to add public wifi and a couple of other services that would be completely outside of our internal network. Each office has a 3750 with plenty of open ports. How can I safely create a vlan for public access on these switches which currently have our internal network on. I have read that people are doing this to save on the cost of purchasing a dedicated switch. Some people are using access lists and one person mentioned creating a private vlan for the public network. I looked up private vlan and it seemed bit confusing.

- Opotion 60 is also configured with AP Manager's IP address
- the port connected to the APs are in the AP Manager VLAN

Sep 8, 2012Our scenario requires some customization in Wireless network. We have moving Forklift machines fitted with network devices. The network device in forklift acts as a client. But it doesn't have a wireless adapter and no provisions to add a wireless adapter. There is one ethernet port.
So we have a plan to attach one AP(1262) to each forklift. this AP needs to talk to the AP whcih is connected to Wired network. The network deivce in the forklift need to talk to the root AP(1262) through the AP directly connected to it over Ethernet.

Cisco Wireless :: WGB With Air LAP 1262 Disconnects After Some Days
Jan 13, 2013I'm having this weird problem with an IP phone behind a WGB. The setup is like this: Cisco controller -> Switch -> switch -> AP (Air LAP1142) -> WGB (Air LAP 1262) -> switch -> IP phone.
The phone works, sometimes. Sometime for days, sometime for hours, then it disconnects and what I have to do then to get it working again is to run this command on the bridge. "no workgroup-bridge unified-vlan-client", then wait for it to disassociate, then run "workgroup-bridge unified-vlan-client" and after that it gets a stable connection (for a undetermined amount of time).
Here´s the WGB config:

Jul 4, 2012I currently have WLC 5508 and a few campuses with LAP 1142, each with 2-3 vlan. Now one of our campuses have a building thas is a bit far away and needs network (wired). We can't get fiber or TP-cable there in a good way. So the plan is to get two 1262 or 3500 with AIR-ANT5160NP-R antennas and get a wireless link working between the campus and the building. And then connect one of the AP's to a switch in the other building to provide it with wired network.
The problem is that I can't find information on how to do it. Should both APs be in autonomus mode? I probably only need to have 1 VLAN in the other building but I am not sure yet. Is there a problem with transfering several VLAN over the WLAN-link?

See screen shots below showing model numbers and interfaces on the AP with one radio available (All other 1262s show 2 radios as normal). Tried resetting the AP to factory default, but same result. Oct 15, 2012We currently have about 50 Cisco 1252 wireless access points running from a 4404 Wireless LAN controller. We need to order more APs, but of course the 1252s have been discontinued.Was assured by Cisco that the 1262 would work just fine with our WLC. I'm messing around with a trial 1262 and am running into problems.We hard-code the IP address, hostname, default gateway, and controller IP address in each of our access points. I did that with the new 1262 the same way I did with the 1252s:lwapp ap ip address lwapp ap ip default-gateway etc., etc.That didn't work. Then I tried doing the same thing using (not sure if this is the correct terminology...) the capwap commands.
The AP still doesn't show up on the WLC's GUI, though I can ping the AP from the WLC and I can ping the WLC from the AP.I also can't use a web browser to get into the access point's configuration tool. Do I understand correctly that the lightweight APs don't have the GUI?
