Cisco Wireless :: 1262 AP Doesn't Register With WLC4404
Oct 15, 2012
We currently have about 50 Cisco 1252 wireless access points running from a 4404 Wireless LAN controller. We need to order more APs, but of course the 1252s have been discontinued. Was assured by Cisco that the 1262 would work just fine with our WLC. I'm messing around with a trial 1262 and am running into problems. We hard-code the IP address, hostname, default gateway, and controller IP address in each of our access points. I did that with the new 1262 the same way I did with the 1252s:lwapp ap ip address lwapp ap ip default-gateway etc., etc. That didn't work. Then I tried doing the same thing using (not sure if this is the correct terminology...) the capwap commands.
The AP still doesn't show up on the WLC's GUI, though I can ping the AP from the WLC and I can ping the WLC from the AP.I also can't use a web browser to get into the access point's configuration tool. Do I understand correctly that the lightweight APs don't have the GUI?
I am trying to configure the Wism running on a 6500 switch.... I have configured the DHCP scope for the AP on the controller itself with the same subnet as of the management for the controller. The AP gets the IP but once it restarts it doesn't register to the controller, this is the log i get on the AP when consoled into it. [code]
I've just moved my desktop computer back to my parents house. there is an Internet connection in the house already. if I plug the cable into my laptop it works instantly. when I plug into the desktop there is nothing the green light turns on at the back of the tower but otherwise the computer doesn't register anything at all.
I have a home network consisting of a Linux machine running dhcpd server, connected to the X3000 router wireless, connected -in turn- to the RE1000 repeater, and -finally- a DHCP client machine.Since I run my own DHCP server, I have configured X3000 to be a Relay.I am getting very strange behaviour. Specifically, the DHCP client sents a DISCOVER packet, which arrives to the server (through the relay/router), the server then replies with an OFFER packet to the Relay, and then - bizarelly! - the relay/router forwards the OFFER reply NOT to the client, but back to the server!Needless to say, when this happens the client does not register with the network.I have captured the packets with wireshark running on the server machine, and you may find them here:url...Does not Linksys have professional online technical support?
i have 2x WLC4404 they are in the same mobilitygroup and worked since a long time. Three days ago, ill upgraded one of them from 6.0.199.4 to 6.0.202.0. I have nearly 90 APs (1231,1242, different models)
The upgrade was successfull and i moved the APs from WLCA (6.0.199.4) to WLCB (6.0.202.0) almost all APs worked fine without 6 of them. This 6 APs cannot ping the AP-Manager-Interface from WLCB. But they can Ping the Router in this vlan, WLCA-AP-Manager and all APs in this subnet. They only cant get to the AP-Manager-interface from WLCB. Ping to Managementinterface of WLCB is also ok. Management and AP Manager are in different subnets. All APs and the AP-Manager-Interfaces from WLCA+WLCB are in the same subnet.
Switchportconfig and routing are ok. ive resetet the APs to default, checked switchport config, resetet switchport, power down ap for a while. ive tried many things, but nothing worked.I ever only can ping AP-Manager from WLCA, but not WLCB (again same subnet, and about 80 other APs work fine) If i install a new AP on the same switchport, it works fine, without any issues. when i than unplug the "newAP" from this switchport and again connect the "oldAP" it can ping WLCA+WLCB and anything is fine.
Now i have the next and bigger problem nearly 15 of the APs that worked fine after upgrading, for now 3days+. Now they cannot ping the WLCB-AP-Manager-int too. And they dont failover to the WLCA with (6.0.199.4), i can reboot but they ever try to connect to WLCB. But they know both controllers.I only can get them to WLCA via ssh: capwap ap primary-base WLCAsname WLCAsmanagementIP..why the APs dont fail over if they dont reach WLCBsAP-Managerinterface?why i cannot ping WLCBs AP-Mana-Int from some APs.
how to set up support 802.11n on WLC4404 or WLC5508 in the 2.4Ghz? WLC4404 supports 802.11n? or support this protocol only in the brochures? I spent a few days, but did not get the result. I'm connected at speeds 65/130Mbit, but the real speed tests never exceeded 45Mbit. The AP from the test laptop is 7-10 meters.I tested the laptops with a Linksys AP E1200-EE ( 40Mhz, FastEthernet uplink port...)and received nearly 100Mbit!
At WLC5508 able to connect at speeds 150/300Mbit/c but only in the 5GHz band, but real speed tests never exceeded 70Mbit.In 2.4Ghz range I connected at speeds of 130/144Mbit/c, but actual measurements showed no more than the 45Mbit.
All tested with iperf and with site speedtest.net. iperf -w64K -s iperf -w64K -i 2 -t 300 -c x.x.x.x
Laptops: Asus (Atheros AR9002WB-1NG) and Sony (Advanced-N 6230).
My tests AP: 3501I-E and 1252AG-A SW on WLC5508 7.2.110.0
AP tested in different variants - open system and WPA2+AES.
How to disable dhcp proxy on controller and what is the impact of doing it in the middle? We tried once by giving 'config dhcp proxy disable' command but seeing virtual ip again.(likely it gets back to proxy mode). We also have ip helper address on the L3 interface. We have only external dhcp servers configured..
I have 2 controllers as below one with 6.0 version and other with 5.2 version AIR-WLC4404-100-K9 6.0.202.0 AIR-WLC4402-12-K9 5.2.178.0 GUEST..Control path between controller flaps. All mobility anchors on wlan index 7 are down. All mobility anchors on wlan index 3 are down.Control path to mobility member x.x.x.x is down.No problem observed when i have software 5.2.178.0 on both the controller.
how to migrate from WLC4404 to WLC5508. I want to know your propositions.
I could replicate the configuration manually but there is a lot of confirugation menus and all. If both could be online and migrate the AP to the new one until there is none on the old one, it would be great.
We have two Cisco Wireless Controller 4404 with the IOS Version 7.0.220.0 and a lot of access points (ca. 170). Now i wan't to reboot a group of Access points where i found over a filter..Or how can i reboot all the Access Points at the same time over the Controller Interface? Is it possible? I only found the option in the WebGui where i can reboot 1 Access Point at the same time with "hardware reset".
We have a WLC 4404 with about 85 1121 and 1241 APs. - I just added 6 new 3501E with Antennas, and configured the a new SSID, but non of my clients can connect to any of the 3501s. One solution from a tech was to update the NIC drivers. I verified that all test clients are 802.11N and sometimes they find the 3501 but often they switch to another of the older and weaker 1121 or 1241s. On one test I had a 3501 just outside his room and his client nic was picking up a weak signal 2 floors up, then it would go to one 1 floor down. eventually we could get it to feed of the nearest 3501 but it would go back to another 1121 or 1241 soon thereafter,.
Continuous dropping out some of them Access Points registered on the Primary Controller . What is the reason for this. We have a problem the last 2 weeks. What are the causes of falling out controler Access Points. The problem does not appear from logs. 70 LWAPs registered over Primary Controller. All AP mode is Local.
I have a 1262 that will be setup as a WGB and wirelessly connect to a Cisco MESH AP. A switch and clients will hang off of the 1262 WGB. How many clients can a 1262 WGB support?
We have two cisco 1262 AP and a 4402 WLC, the AP cannot join the WLC. The AP gets the address from dchp
I cannot ping the AP address from the WLC, but i can ping the default gateway and other VLAN addresses.
I already read the info on the this link : [URL] Still our AP cannot join the WLC no matter what i have tried.
Setup
- VLAN setup on a Cisco 3560 48 port poe Switch - tunk configured btwn the Gi Interface and the Management physical port - WLC mode is configured for Layer 3 - AP Manager and Management are in the same Subnet - Option 43 is configured for the with the AP Manager's IP address - Opotion 60 is also configured with AP Manager's IP address - the port connected to the APs are in the AP Manager VLAN
I have new 1262 APs, this have Gig Interface, when I connect the AP in my 6500 with PoE Gig Interface, the AP turn on, but the interface never get up. I need to change the speed to 100 in the 6500 switch port, when I do this, the interface become UP.
This is the model of the card WS-X6148A-GE-45AF This is the Switch IOS s3223-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF11.bin
The controller is 5500 version 7.2
This is the interface config: interface GigabitEthernet4/36 switchport switchport access vlan 308
I have a cisco AIR-LAP1262N-A-K9 and AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9, and i would like to join to Cisco WLC2106 (software version 7.0.98.0)My ap 1262N have 3 antennas externals with 7dbi of ganancy,Is possible to do it?
All antennas have to be in the same direction on the AP and I guess when the old 1230 is working well the 1262 will be only better . Attached u see how I plan to mount the new AP versus the old one...
Our scenario requires some customization in Wireless network. We have moving Forklift machines fitted with network devices. The network device in forklift acts as a client. But it doesn't have a wireless adapter and no provisions to add a wireless adapter. There is one ethernet port.
So we have a plan to attach one AP(1262) to each forklift. this AP needs to talk to the AP whcih is connected to Wired network. The network deivce in the forklift need to talk to the root AP(1262) through the AP directly connected to it over Ethernet.
I'm having this weird problem with an IP phone behind a WGB. The setup is like this: Cisco controller -> Switch -> switch -> AP (Air LAP1142) -> WGB (Air LAP 1262) -> switch -> IP phone.
The phone works, sometimes. Sometime for days, sometime for hours, then it disconnects and what I have to do then to get it working again is to run this command on the bridge. "no workgroup-bridge unified-vlan-client", then wait for it to disassociate, then run "workgroup-bridge unified-vlan-client" and after that it gets a stable connection (for a undetermined amount of time).
Here´s the WGB config: version 15.2 no service pad service timestamps debug datetime msec [Code]....
is the aironet 1262 access point a good choice for an environment of about 20 users. each users is in an office and we are looking at deploying the ap at the end of the hall on a wall mount. would distance be a barrier and are there any better options out there?
Client has a building that is located 300Ft apart and would like to provide IP communications for 3-4 IP hadsets back to an IP PBX. They do not want to dig up the parking lot so we proposed using a wireless bridge. I noticed that Cisco discontinue the 1300 and 1400 Wireless Bridge. Can I use a 1262 with external antenna in Workgroup Bridge mode to perform this functions? I will put a Layer 3 switch on both ends to route traffic (3560C-8). Should I use the Yagi antenna's for outdoor use?
I will be doing a site survey using the client's Cisco 1262 with only 1 radio (g/n), 3 antennas. What is the maximum transmit power, 20dBm or 23dBm? I need to set the transmit power in the Airmagnet to 50% or 3dBm down as recommended by Cisco.
I currently have WLC 5508 and a few campuses with LAP 1142, each with 2-3 vlan. Now one of our campuses have a building thas is a bit far away and needs network (wired). We can't get fiber or TP-cable there in a good way. So the plan is to get two 1262 or 3500 with AIR-ANT5160NP-R antennas and get a wireless link working between the campus and the building. And then connect one of the AP's to a switch in the other building to provide it with wired network.
The problem is that I can't find information on how to do it. Should both APs be in autonomus mode? I probably only need to have 1 VLAN in the other building but I am not sure yet. Is there a problem with transfering several VLAN over the WLAN-link?
We have 6 1262 APs and a 2504 WLC. 5 of the 1262 appear correctly with 2 radios. One of them shows 1 radio. See screen shots below showing model numbers and interfaces on the AP with one radio available (All other 1262s show 2 radios as normal). Tried resetting the AP to factory default, but same result. Do I have a defective AP?
1. Can the C1200 antennas work on the 1262 ? 2. Can the 2.4Ghz antenna work on the 5Ghz ports on the 1262 ? 3. The 1262 has 6 antenna ports (3 2.4ghz and 3 5ghz), can the (3) 2.4 Ghz antenna be used only as i only have antennas for the C1200 Access point which are 2.4 Ghz.
I want to replace existing 1242s with 1262s. Which are currently in a Heated Nema Enclosures with 12dBi Mast Mount AIR-ANT24120. The 5.0 Ghz Radio is off. So the question is can I use the same Antennas AIR-ANT24120 for the new 1262? I’m assuming yes as long I use connectors A & C are tx/rx; on the center would we leave open or put a rubber duck on it?
I am running a WiFi network built on Cisco 1262 APs and Cisco WLC 5508. My APs broadcast two SSIDs, let call them "WiFi_Pay" and "WiFi_Free". I have a problem: when users migrate from "WiFi_Pay" to "WiFi_Free" (not moving, connecting to the same AP), the connection fails. If they try for second time, it is always successful. My task is to ensure that such migrations run smoothly and be successful from the first attempt.
We have a few 1500 outdoor mesh ap's. 1262N are used to link to these 1500 and extend the coverage to places. All 1262 was configured as mesh. But upon installation, none of them actually register to the controller and join the other mesh ap's. They should be joining to the 1500's.
On testing, the 1500 joins the 1262N as mesh. however the 1262N does not join the 1500 as mesh even though the distance is less than 20m.
