I recently bought a e4200v2 router and installed it by connecting it with my old modem d-link 2730u.I was disappointing to see that the new router i.e e4200v2 has the exact same coverage as my old router which is costing about 35 usd and linksys cost about 200 usd.. this is a terrible waste of money!!

Recently I bought a TP-Link 3G portable battery powered router ( model no: TL-MR3040).After connecting I get this status: please see picture ( file name 1)

After a very unsuccessful attempt to talk with technical support, I decided to post here. I probably should have posted here first... lesson learned.I have Comcast Cable internet and get approx 24-25 Mb/s download speed when directly connected to the modem.When I connect via the router's ethernet port, my download speed drops to 14Mb/s.When I connect via wifi -- the download speed drops the whole way to 1.5Mb/s?

Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have TWO spare Linksys Wireless Router (WRT350N-Wireless-N Gigabit Router) and (WRT54G2-Wireless-G Broadband Router) that I need to use to expand my wireless network at home.
How can i connect the two routers to became an access point or range expander to existing router. It is possible the two spare routers became an access pt or expander? How can i configure that? Cable configuration?
I just upgraded my router from the WRT54GL to the EA6300, and it appears there is less coverage with the new unit. Previously, my neighbor could share my router and now with the EA6300 my phone switches to 4G at the end of the driveway. Has anyone seen any specs which publish to output of the ea6300?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBoth use the same encryption (WPA2-Personal), same channel and they are tested in the same location with g-only mode. Only one router is switched on at any one time during the test. When 3 g-client notebooks (of various brands) are associated with the E4200, the signal indicator is a single bar, wherelse they can get 3 bars with the WRT54G (in the same location). For Internet speed test on a 20Mbps link, WRT54G is able to substain about 10Mbps, but only 1-2Mbps with the E4200.
Is such difference in performance between the two router models normal? Is there any configuration required to tweak the E4200? Or is it a hardware related issue with E4200?
The E4200 has been updated with the latest available firmware as of yesterday.
we are currently using a modem router LINKSYS WAG120N Wireless-N ADSL Router but are not satisfied. lots of dead zones and I think that there are too many users for this AP. last count gave around 20 users. so I'm looking for a solution to be able to handle 20+ concurrent connections and with large coverage - 600 m² .

Cable modem is located in the basement so i would like to have one of the routers connected to it and use another router as bridge. So which router would be best to use a bridge. If i use ea4500 as a bridge then i would lose dual band features of it.

I just learned the hard way that the E4200 doesn't support that feature, and will only act as an access point if physically connected to the primary router that is connected to the internet.
Before I spend even more money on equipment, I was wondering if any of the experts here can tell me whether I can use a Linksys Bridge, like the WET610N or WES610N, to operate the second router in bridge mode and turn it into a wireless access point?
I recently purchased an EA4500. It started out working really well, but recently I noticed that my speed on my iPhone and iPad has dropped significantly. When I'm in my office where the router is set up, I'm getting around 15 to 20 mb download speed and 5+ upload speed. When I go to my living room about 40 feet away my speed drops to 1mb down and less than 1 up. I expect to see a drop in my performance the further away I get from the router, but this seems really unacceptable to me.

I found out that Linksys had changed their default IP address on their routers since I installed my previous router, a Linksys also. So I had to used their setup utility to configure the new router. Thats when I found the change in the IP address. The Linksys setup utility is not the most friendly user setup utility.Finally got the new router setup. I went to bed and when I went to check today's weather forecast I found that the new router's WIFI signal strength was much lower than my old router. Ended up re-installing my old router. I can't return the new router now because I threw out the box for the router. Guess it will sit on the shelf as a spare if needed.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at speedtest.net with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the 1.0.14.129982 Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.

I have only about 60% signal strength, and my speed test when connected wireless is only 5mbit up,4mbit down. I plugged my computer into the router via ethernet and I get 30mbit up, and 5mbit down.Are there any settings you could suggest to improve this? I tried several channels already, none above 60% it seems.

But when I watch ATV2,DS411's bandwidth seems not be reduced,so I cant get the smooth video Its very bad.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have EA4500 acting as a router on domainless all-Windows network of two XP machines.Unfortunately, EA4500 aggressively grabs the role of the Master Browser (I am talking about Computer Browser Service) on the network (regardless in which order you power the devices up) and then doesn't serve as a working Master Browser - both Windows machines stop listing the network computers in the "Network Neighborhood" and incur massive timeouts when attempting to view the listing.A quick look with 'browstat.exe status' reveals that indeed the router has announced itself as a Master Browser device, but returns errors when you query it.Quite predictably, without the router, both machinces figure out amongst each other who will be the Master Browser and everything works fine. The problems begin only when you add the router to the network.
1) Is there any way to make EA4500 work like a full-blown Master Browser (the one that not only announces itself, but also serves as such)? having a Master Browser integrated in "always-on" router would really improve the predictability of the network.
2) If not, is there any way to disable the Master Browser on EA4500? For now I managed to achieve that by assigning the router to different workgroup name, but this is lame, as I now can't connect a disk storage to the router and use it within the same workgroup.
I just picked up a EA6500 wireless router today and I am a bit disappointed. I paid $199 for this router because I was hoping to take advantage of of fast N speeds and the advanced features it offers.When I first logged in to set up the router, I saw an amber exclamation point with a note that read "Updating Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Service". When I put my password in I was met with a "Unexpected Error" message.Also, the firmware updater doesn't work. Now on to the more bothersome issue. Wireless speed is poor. I replaced a WRT160NL router with this one. On my old router using WPA2-Personal (AES) I would see speeds of ~300 Mbps. On my EA6500, I see 120 Mbps. I have checked and double checked all wireless and security settings and don't see anything that looks wrong.

I have check the speed on a tablet ( android ), pc and a mac to about 5 feet away from the router with no walls or anything between the two devices.I have checked all the settings but I don't see anything wrong, I have changed to N mode only to make sure I use top speed.All my devices are able to use N.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54gh, and the signal strength is extremely poor. Full strength at about 15 centimeters, Then drops to 50% at 50 centimeters. By 1.5 meters, the signal is extremely weak or not visible. Have updated to the latest firmware, factory reset and power cycled. There are no other wireless networks or devices that would provide interference Have experimented with channels, thresholds, transmit type, encrypted/open, intervals etc..No luck. Due to signal dropping off so quickly it seems like a transmit strength issue rather than an issue that can be solved in the menu. I'm wondering if there's a way I can console log-in to the Linux kernel and check the transmit strength and perhaps bump it up by a few DB? It's out of warranty so a solution involving opening the case is also acceptable.
