My E4200 recently started to randomly shut down. To say the least this is very aggravating. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have done some reading and am beginning to regret this purchase.
View 8 RepliesAbout a month ago, my E2000 Cisco Router stopped working, just after warranty expired (how awesome!) where as either WiFi worked or Wired but not both. I know Cisco will normally grant you a grace period (from experience) but sending it to the Czechs and pay for postage.. wait 4 weeks and then have internet again.. is not an option (did that last time)So this time.. I spend a bit more and bought the E4200. 4 weeks later, the IP changes from a 192 to a 17x .. pretty anoying when being abroad and needing to access the NAS since you do not know what IP it took.. I restored the config upon return.. and all seemed normal again and I left for the next trip. One day later (today).. again.. no connection.. wife has internet she says.. so again the same issue.. the **bleep** thing took another IP.

It will shut up and say that my wireless router needs to be reset, but all other wireless devices continue to work throughout the house. I could run any amount of diagnostic but it will not fix. The only time it fixes it when it says "repair as administrator" as one of the options in diagnostic test which does not always appear. I went to school yesterday, and my laptop would not connect to the wireless network there at all, but everyone else around me connected fine.

Its been working fine then about a day ago it started to stop working at random. All internet just stops working. Wired and Wifi. I have to either wait for it to work again or restart the router.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got this weird problem with my E4200 in that I've set everything up to get the maximum 450mbps link rate, but it randomly falls back to 300mbps and I don't know why. I can get it to connect at 450mbps again if for example I go into the wireless settings and toggle the channel that is used, or if I go into QOS and disable then enable WMM, but it seems that after a period of time that the router goes back to 450mbps anyway.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the router or my wireless card. I'm guessing it's the router since inssider reports the max link rate at 300mbps at times despite it being set up for 450.I'm using firmware 1.0.01 as there is a bug in later versions that means the WAN port cannot transfer above 80mbps. My wifi adapter is an Intel 6300.
I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
Randomly, the cisco light blinks and i lose my internet connection. I cant even ping the router. After 30 secs it works again. But this is annoying, i got disconnected 4 times today, unnaceptable. Im connected with wired ethernet. My firmware is 1.0.03.

I probably should have posted here first... lesson learned.I have Comcast Cable internet and get approx 24-25 Mb/s download speed when directly connected to the modem.When I connect via the router's ethernet port, my download speed drops to 14Mb/s.When I connect via wifi -- the download speed drops the whole way to 1.5Mb/s?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the e4200v2 with Smart Wifi (formerly Connect Cloud). On my previous routers, I've been able to shut down internet access for my ENTIRE home network at a specific time each night and then re-allow access again at a specfic time the next morning.
In using the Parental Controls on the 4200v2, it appears I have to set times for EACH and EVERY device on my network. I have 4 kids and a very heavy wireless network, including 3 Xboxes, 1 PS3, a Bluray player, a Directv receiver, an RCA media streaming device, 4 laptops, 1 desktop, 4 IPODs, and 1 IPhone on my network.
My goal is to shut down the internet access completely each night at Midnight, then re-allow access the next morning at 6am in order to ensure my kids aren't up all night playing games, etc. But the the Parental Controls on the 4200v2, it appears I have to do this for EVERY device, instead of being able to just shut down access across the board like I could with the old Linksys web-based interface.
My WRT400n has started dropping the wireless signal 4 to 5 times a day. Somet times it fixes itself but most of the time I have to re-boot the router to connect a wireless signal.I looked for a firmware upgrade but there hasn't been one since 2009.
View 4 Replies View RelatedUpgraded to 1.0.04 from .03 and caused some problems. Worked great at first-upgrade was flawless-no problems there. THen it started dropping wireless connections. THen no wireless or wired connections. COuld not pull an IP address.Pulled power to router couple times and it worked great at first again then degraded like before.Held reset button for 5 secs to reset to factory defaults, now the setup display is missing all the html coding-no menu list. All in raw format.Am connected to port 1 via cat 5 to my laptop with no connections except the internet connection to the cable modem. Something has gone really wrong with my .04 software.Tried to find the .03 version, but the zip file is HUGE. Whats in it anyway?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I bought this new E4200v1 about a week ago and since yesterday it started dropping connection terribly. After checking Cisco Connect it seemed to have a Firmware update which I did and after it was done I decided to do a factory reset since I read somewhere that it works. When the router came back on for a second I saw an unsecured SSID, but then it turned into an SSID called panelist-ssid with a password called google-4panel which is definitely not the default. Also, when I try to access the router webpage to configure it, the password is not the old one nor the default Username: blank Password: admin credentials. I am currently connected to it via the button on the back that allows me to connect without password. Another thing is that I uninstalled Cisco Connect and when I try to install at 25% it says it cannot find my router and ask for SSID + password which I input yet it fails.

I can access the router and the router seems to be assigning the IP addresses fine. I did look up the issue on the knowledge base and tried all the solutions but the light is still blinking. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.

I am using Vista 32bit and connect to the internet via a Linksys router and have cable modem. When I start my computer, it will not connect to the internet. I have to disconnect and reconnect my network cable and it starts working fine. This is very annoying. Another similar computer is connected to the same router and doesn't have this problem. how to make my computer connect to the internet automatically without having to do this each time I boot up my PC?

The problem starts when trying to shut sown Win 7, when I try to power off the system, the little blue light flickers about 1/2 dozen times then goes Steady Blue and stays that way till it shuts off..I have to manully take it out of the USB port each time I shut down my PC or it will get really hot and Probably burn up. I have tried all the power options and that does nothing...This did not happen when I was running XP service pack 3 32 bit.
View 9 Replies View Relatedno changes except switched out old steady wrt45g router cabled to different computer for a new (crazy good price) asus n66 dark knight. stable old system after clean install xpsp3 several years ago. abruptly started crashing and endless rebooting any time wusb54g attached. no antivirus active. never had linksys monitor software installed. xp had handled everything well till now. repeated attempts to re-install drivers (rt25000usb) fail. occasionally xp sees "new hardware" and occasionally it simply immediately crashes. attempted install of ?failing? usb54gv4 onto much newer W7 machine to try to test hardware w/o success. linksys AE1000 usb adapter worked on W7 machine and also installed successfully on the old steady XP machine in question.

I tried logging into the internet and my WIRED computer would not connect. My wifes WIRED computer next to mine didn't have any trouble connecting. Resetting my computer didn't work. I had to cycle the router by unplugging it! Then today, my (2) kids are using Pandora on their (2) computers wirelessly, and same set up with my wifes computer and mine, and again only my computer looses access from the router and all other computers stay connected.
View 9 Replies View RelatedApparently when watching TV after the show is over and the TV is turned off the lights on the router dims and their wifi router is not able to be found any longer and they have to reset the router in order to find it again. I downloaded the newest firmware version 4.21.5 yesterday since they had the original firmware from years ago thinking this may solve the problem. It worked for a day and then stopped with the router having the same symptoms. They have this router located very closely to their plasma TV for the past 3 months, however, I was reading that wifi routers do not cause any interference with plasma TVs. They had this router placed near their old rear projection TV for years and never had any problems.Could the router be going bad? Could the router be too close to the TV?

Before, i've only had mild connectivity issues, mainly dropping internet for a few seconds, but I've always considered that my router's issue. Latley though, my internet has been slowing down and then dropping for minutes at a time and today I have absolutely no connection. A red X across my "bars." It says i'm connected to my home network when I click the bars, but when I go under Networking it says i'm not connected to any network.

View 9 Replies View RelatedNew E900 router drops PPPoE session and gets new IP address randomly every 1-20 hours. Tried different E900, does the same thing. Disabled IPv6, no change. Upgraded FW from 1.0.00 to 1.0.01, no change. I have an SPA112 ATA behind the router and it has to re-register with the VoIP provider every time the IP address changes, so I'm afraid of my call getting dropped if this occurs while I'm on the phone. Using an old WRT54G or a different brand of router it will keep the same PPPoE session for weeks, so it is not the ISP.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.
This happens intermittantly. This results in most connections (but not all) being dropped. I will be unable to connect to web servers. My connection to videogame servers will drop. However, AIM will stay connected. These were done simultaneously. The same thing happens with my Cisco AE1200 and a D-Link 802.11g adapter I have. Disconnecting my adapter and reconnecting it solves the problem. I have tried doing a factory reset on the router and installing the latest firmware. It seems to happen more frequently when I am doing a lot of throughput (downloading a game on Steam, for instance) but other times it will happen when all I am doing is playing a game (like Tribes Ascend) which uses very little data. This is extremely frustrating. When I pay more than $150 for a piece of networking equipment, I expect it to last more than 3 years.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy E3200 has been clearing it's DHCP table at random times. When it's been cleared the router starts handing out duplicate addresses. It's running the latest (1.0.02 build 9 Sep 1, 2011) firmware and otherwise seems to be working fine.
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy E2500 drops the internet connection randomly. I have no issues with wired or wireless access to the home network (sharing files, sharing printers etc...). To fix the problem I log into the router and do a soft reboot from the status page.
I posted this earlier and the only response I received was a cut and paste answer to make some changes to my wireless settings. Seriously doubting the relevance of the post I made the changes anyway and as expected nothing changed, the router still loses access to the internet without any warning. When I replied that I hadn't thought that that was the problem but that I HAD made the changes mentioned and as I expected it DIDN'T work I get no response.
I have downloaded netflix on our wii. We have a E1000 Linksys router.
While watching anything on Nextflix, the movie stops every 2 minutes and began loading again.
