I have an Inspiron 1545 Laptop running Windows 7. Before, i've only had mild connectivity issues, mainly dropping internet for a few seconds, but I've always considered that my router's issue. Latley though, my internet has been slowing down and then dropping for minutes at a time and today I have absolutely no connection. A red X across my "bars." It says i'm connected to my home network when I click the bars, but when I go under Networking it says i'm not connected to any network.
I just recently had my hard drive replaced by the manufacturer of my computer (Lenovo) because it started clicking. When I got it back it started making my wireless router/DSL modem reset all the time. I didn't have this issue before. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64 Bit. While the computer was off being repaired I was using a Win XP machine and had it connected through Ethernet cable. I did not have any issues with the router/modem while the XP machine was connected. I tried connecting the Win 7 computer up through ethernet cable (hard wired) and it still crashes the router/modem. I also connected the XP machine back up (hard wired) to the router and had no problems. Is it possible that the wrong drivers were installed by the lenovo techs? I have also noticed that my touchpad does not work the same as it did before too. And is it possible that my laptop is making the router crash out due to wrong configurations?
I recently got a new router, from BT, and replaced a switch with a cisco one. (which I don't think is the problem, as I have tested without the switch and it still times out) I only ever really notice it when im browsing on the web on any site. I use a wired connections I have not noticed this on any other machine how ever the timeouts are random and streaming/downloading seems to work fine.
After a very unsuccessful attempt to talk with technical support, I decided to post here. I probably should have posted here first... lesson learned.I have Comcast Cable internet and get approx 24-25 Mb/s download speed when directly connected to the modem. When I connect via the router's ethernet port, my download speed drops to 14Mb/s.When I connect via wifi -- the download speed drops the whole way to 1.5Mb/s?
My E4200 recently started to randomly shut down. To say the least this is very aggravating. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have done some reading and am beginning to regret this purchase.
I recently bought a e4200v2 router and installed it by connecting it with my old modem d-link 2730u.I was disappointing to see that the new router i.e e4200v2 has the exact same coverage as my old router which is costing about 35 usd and linksys cost about 200 usd.. this is a terrible waste of money!!
My friend who's using a DSL Modem has been recently expericening rnadom disconnecting from the internet. He did hear it might be due to a trojan virus, but after various virus/spyware/malware and internet scans and tests etc. He still keeps getting disconnected. He's using a Sagem f@st 800 E3 modem and using XP+SP3 OS
my internet connection keeps dropping recently. I first thought it was caused by my router, so I bought a new router D-Link DIR 835 but the problem still exists and seems even worse.
my PS3 has recently lost wireless connection to my network, whenever i try to reconnect i get the following error messages. failed to get ip address, or attempt to obtain ip address timed out.i thought i would try to renew ip addresses but when i try to release ip address , via command line (ipconfig/iprelease) i get the following message. this operation cannot be performed on local area area connection while it has media disconnected.
Originally I owned an Aztec router which supports a DSL Cable which my internet provider gave us but now that I bought a new router I didn't know that the MR3420 only support WAN cable what should I do? like find a dsl to wan cable (doubt it exist) or ask from my internet provider or return the router?
My google search has recently stopped working in both IE and firefox. When i search bing or yahoo they work just fine. I have tried using google.com an also tried using the toobar on my computer.
Several months ago I installed D-Link's DIR 655 on my W7 x64 PC. Everything worked fine including NetFlix and being able to view photos located on my PC on my Sony TV. The TV is connected via wired Ethernet cable from the D-Link and I use my cable service signal from the router to the TV.
Then I had to reinstall my OS and although I can still view all the cable companies offerings, including NetFlix on the TV, I'm no longer able to see or view images located on my PC on the TV. I didn't change any of the wiring.
I tried reinstalling the D-Link CD but I can't find where it installs on my PC. It's not listed in the Device Manager or in Programs. I'm wanting to know what version of the D-Link driver I have and to be able to view photos and videos on my TV that are located in shared folders on my PC. I'm the only one who uses the PC.
My roommate and I have High speed cable internet and the modem is set up in his room. I bought a n600 belkin router and a usb wireless adapter so my computer in my room will get internet. Only problem is there is only one ethernet port on the modem that the internet provider gave us and of course that is taken up by his computer. How do I hook up the router to the modem and get all this to work so I can get on the internet as soon as possible?
My HP printer finds my network, signs on just fine, has internet. My 2 wired PCs are connected and have internet. My 2 wireless laptops find the network and have internet. Everything has internet successfully thru the router....not one of them can print anything because not one of them can see the printer that I know is there.
I puchased the N600 WNDR3700v3 Dual Band Gigabit Router. I am able to see my wireless account I set up and is out there to connect to, but I cant connect. I can connect with an ethernet cord, but nothing wireless. It doesnt work for my home or work laptops. Prior to this I had another wireless set up and I am tempted to plug that one back in.
I have cable broadband internet. My internet modem is a Ubee D3.0.It is connected to my Netgear N600 Wifi router which have my computer and DirecTV hooked up to it via Ethernet. My wifi went down the other day.Devices were connected, but were not getting any internet service. In troubleshooting, I attempted to dial in to the router using url... as well as 192.168.0.1, and I could not get into the router.I assumed the router must have crashed, and I only purchased it a month ago, so I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one.I got home and plugged it in, still not working.I can't access it using the above mentioned methods, and the setup software does not detect a router present.I unplugged the router and hooked the computer up directly to the internet modem.Still no luck. The computer does show a network connection in the system tray, but with no internet.I plugged my laptop in to the internet modem, and I am able to get internet just fine from my laptop. even did a system restore to a restore point last week when I know the internet was working..
I just updated my router to a Belkin n600 hd dual band n router. anyway i set it up one band for the "family" on 2.4 gig and my gamer on 5 gig. But the problem is none of my desktops and my latptop doesn't see the 5gig at all the only thing that picks it up is my ipad.
Just bought a new Netgear N600 router, hooked up 4 wired computers with no problem and got several wireless devices to hook up without issue. My laptop however, will not give me internet access when accessing the network wirelessly.
The access is labeled as Local Only, and the network is considered unidentified. Signal strength is excellent, and it reads the name of the new wireless server I created. It prompted me to enter the passphrase, which I did, and now my laptop is stuck on local only.
I tried updating my adaptor drivers but they are all up to date, and I tried to enter my adaptor into the address reservation on the router configuration page using the laptops MAC address and IP address.
I have a wi fi capable blu ray player which works on wireless g connections, and I also have 2 computers. I have the N600 Dual Band router, and want to know if it is possible to transmit on both frequencies? I am only seeing the 2.4ghz show up for a connection.
I want to install 2 wireless routers for the same home network. I want to know if I need 2 modems to go with the 2 routers or if I only need one. the routers will be placed in different locations in the house.
I have a Compaq with XP wired on a Network with a Belkin N600 Router. There are 5 computers on the Network, (4 wired, one wireless) and this is the only computer that I have problems with connectivity. It connects to the Belkin through 2 switches.Typically when I turn the system on it connects, downloads mail, etc. After a short period of time there is no connectivity to the network for printing nor the internet.I may get connectivity randomly again after a while, but you never know if or when you will get connectivity again for sure. I am using Explorer.I had loaded some Belkin software with no luck so I uninstalled it. The other computers have no special software for the router.
My son just got an Asus Laptop from his school. It is running Windows 8.It connects to other peoples WIFI, just not my home WIFI.When he got it home he found the network, entered the password and nothing happened. Now it can't even find the network. There is nothing wrong with the router as every other device connects fine. The router is a Netgear n600 - DGND3700?
I have a netgear n600 router and in the room its in i get around 50 down and 12 up but in other rooms it drops significantly(the highest ive gotten is 11 down in other rooms). is there any setting i can go into.
[CODE]My router stopped working when I tried to connect my new Samsung Smart TV to the wireless network by using the menu on the tv. I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.
I tried using an ethernet cable (cat 6) to connect my laptop (Sony VPC-1190X) to our gigbit router (Netgear N600 WNDR3800), but I get a message that there is no internet connectivity and the light representing that port on the router does not turn on.So, dead ethernet port on the router? Nope - unplugged the working printer from the router and used that ethernet port - same result.so dead ethernet port on the laptop? Nope - plugged the laptop into a gigbit switch (D-link DGS-2205) and instantly got internet connectivity. Note that this switch is plugged into the aforementioned Netgear router. For good measure, I tried power-cycling the router and laptop.
BTW - I can connect the laptop to the router wirelessly but I am trying to make use of the faster transfer speed of the ethernet connection.
My net drops off every 20secs like clockwork, only affecting the wireless.I bought a new router yesterday to see if that would work, but it hasn't. At the moment, my router is connected to the modem, and my computer upstairs is running through the wireless connection from the router (not the modem)
My router is a NetGear N600 Wireless Dual Band... and my modem is a NetGear Rangemax wireless My computer is running Windows 7 and has a Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter(im connecting to my network via the 2.4ghz... not the 5ghz)I've tried doing the whole, ipconfig/ release
I previously had DSL with my own combo modem/wireless router. I cancelled DSL and got Cable broadband instead. I've already unplugged my DSL modem/router and have my cable modem hooked up, all is running well. I bought a new Netgear N600 wireless router that I want to set up. Do I have to uninstall any software or files from my previous DSL modem/router before installing my new cable router?
I have internet through my cable company and currently use their wireless netgear router. I purchased a Netgear Router N600 but it does not have a port for the cable connection. Can you recommend the correct wireless router
