View 18 RepliesI have an Inspiron 1545 Laptop running Windows 7. Before, i've only had mild connectivity issues, mainly dropping internet for a few seconds, but I've always considered that my router's issue. Latley though, my internet has been slowing down and then dropping for minutes at a time and today I have absolutely no connection. A red X across my "bars." It says i'm connected to my home network when I click the bars, but when I go under Networking it says i'm not connected to any network.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy internet connection keeps dropping recently. I first thought it was caused by my router, so I bought a new router D-Link DIR 835 but the problem still exists and seems even worse.

I know the modem is working properly since my laptop and itouch can connect to the internet wireless. The desktop can recognize the modem and it says it's connected to the modem but it says the modem isn't connected to the internet. I dunno what to do I've got the LAN drive installed all the neccesary requirements for the desktop but it just won't connect

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a factory refurbished E1200. The label on the bottom says it is a Version 2 model. When I purchased it, it was loaded with 2.0.02 firmware but I upgraded the firmware to 2.0.04.My problem is that I'm trying to setup MAC address-based restrictions thru the manual/web-based setup and when I click on the "Access Restrictions" tab, I only have simple "Parental Controls" and not the advanced "Internet Access Policy".Is it possible that I have a mislabeled V1 device? If that is the case, how is it that I was able to upgrade the firmware using firmware from the V2 downloads section.
Do V! and V2 units use the same firmware but more importantly, how do I upgrade the built-in software so that I have the advanced "Internet Access Policy" controls?
My friend who's using a DSL Modem has been recently expericening rnadom disconnecting from the internet. He did hear it might be due to a trojan virus, but after various virus/spyware/malware and internet scans and tests etc. He still keeps getting disconnected. He's using a Sagem f@st 800 E3 modem and using XP+SP3 OS

I recently picked up the new N600 Netgear, and installed it without much problem.I've recently been running into a issue while wired in on my desktop.
"Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out." Some pages, randomly, but fairly often will be very unresponsive/time out.
my PS3 has recently lost wireless connection to my network, whenever i try to reconnect i get the following error messages. failed to get ip address, or attempt to obtain ip address timed out.i thought i would try to renew ip addresses but when i try to release ip address , via command line (ipconfig/iprelease) i get the following message. this operation cannot be performed on local area area connection while it has media disconnected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently had my hard drive replaced by the manufacturer of my computer (Lenovo) because it started clicking. When I got it back it started making my wireless router/DSL modem reset all the time. I didn't have this issue before. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64 Bit. While the computer was off being repaired I was using a Win XP machine and had it connected through Ethernet cable. I did not have any issues with the router/modem while the XP machine was connected. I tried connecting the Win 7 computer up through ethernet cable (hard wired) and it still crashes the router/modem. I also connected the XP machine back up (hard wired) to the router and had no problems. Is it possible that the wrong drivers were installed by the lenovo techs? I have also noticed that my touchpad does not work the same as it did before too. And is it possible that my laptop is making the router crash out due to wrong configurations?

I probably should have posted here first... lesson learned.I have Comcast Cable internet and get approx 24-25 Mb/s download speed when directly connected to the modem. When I connect via the router's ethernet port, my download speed drops to 14Mb/s.When I connect via wifi -- the download speed drops the whole way to 1.5Mb/s?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy E4200 recently started to randomly shut down. To say the least this is very aggravating. Nothing has changed, location still the same and it seems to be overheating or in the very least getting warm. In the last It will also shut down multiple times a day too. I have done some reading and am beginning to regret this purchase.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI built a pc asrock z77 pro3 mobo, i5 3570k 3.4ghz, ati 7950, 8gb kingston ddr3 1600mhz ram, corsair 650w psu, a hyper 212 evo and a 500gb hdd with a 128gb ssd all in a cm haf912 case.My problem is that everything works fine except for the inbuilt gigabit lan port. I'm accessing the net through an old pci-e slot network card i found, and I'd really like to use the inbuilt gigabit port. The realtek drivers do not appear under device manager. I installed the latest network drivers from asrock - (Realtek Lan driver ver:7048 for 64-bit win 7), I tried various things I read online like removing the ram for a few minutes, disabling the NIC and sleep mode. I always get this message when installing the driver: "Realtek ethernet cable was not found if deep sleep mode is enabled plug the cable" I've done everything I've read online and from reformatting to removing the ram.In the bios, i made sure the adapter was enabled. another thing is that there is no light coming from the port when the lan cable is inserted into the port. there is a light from the pci adapter so i'm not sure if it's faulty. I've also checked that the cables are fine. I hooked them up to my macbook and ps3 and the network was fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a replacement router sent out to me due to a fault with the AP.
It had a really old firmware on the AP, which I have updated. Using CCP, I have a wireless network running which is more than I had with the old router.
The issue I have is that there is no gui, just a webpage with a few lines showing commands etc.
I know tha CLI is probably more powerful, but I prefer a GUI.
Looking at the flash of the AP, there seems to be lots of files, which I imagine are part of the gui, so its really just a case of enabling it I would assume.
how to debug why sometimes the dot11radio0 / 1 go down? Sometimes, the lights on the router indicating the radio status go out. Usually, a reload of the ap will bring them back up...Maybe hardware is starting to fail? Just unsure on how to debug to find out why it turns off sometimes.

The computer is maybe 3-4 weeks old now, everything is running fine, until today when I decided I wanted to try streaming some Diablo 3.This is when I discovered my upload speed was absolute garbage.I have verizon FIOS - I pay for 15/5, the download speed is always at 20+ mbps, I have never had any problems with it., but my upload speed is fluctuating between .34-1.5 mbps, changing every second.I know this is a problem with the computer because I brought in my old laptop, unplugged the ethernet from my new desktop, plugged it into the laptop in order to keep all variables the same, and it was getting 25/5 without any hesitation. When I was downloading the drivers for my mobo I installed something called Windows Firewall with Advanced Security(maybe that was with a windows update, im not sure).

I have no problems when the computer is connected to a router. That's how I'm posting here now. But my router is old and has no QOS. So the sound quality is choppy when I connect the phone to the router. So I tried connecting the phone directly to the cable modem, with the computer using the phone's router for internet. The phone's sound quality is great that way. But then the computer won't connect to the internet. When I hover over the network icon in the systray, it says "Local Area Connection 4 is now connected. Speed: 1.0 Gbps" The phone's router is a gigabit connection. So I think that tells me that the computer is seeing the phone/router and the cables are okay.I just tried to Repair through the network icon. It fails because it can't renew. I checked Window's Event Viewer to see what kind of error that might have created. This is the error:[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night, my internet was working perfectly and I closed my computer lid before going to sleep as usual. This morning, I wake up to use my computer and the internet isn't working. I check the icon at the top and instead of showing an empty wireless meter with an X over it, it shows a computer and a cable with an X over it, which isn't normal. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5532 with a built in wireless adapter and it has a button near the power button that turns the adapter on and off. I decided to turn it off, give it a while, and turn it on, but that didn't fix it, so I restarted the computer.
Now, when I try to turn it on an off, it gives the wireless symbol with a circled X over it. I have checked the device in Device Manager to see if it is working and it says it is working properly. So I uninstalled it, restarted and the computer automatically installed software like it should, but that didn't fix it. I tried a System Restore, but that didn't work as well. Another thing I should mention is that I have tried rolling back the driver (which didn't fix anything), then I updated it, which also didn't fix anything.
Is there anything else I should try? The only thing Diagnostics can detect is an unplugged cable, but it's built in, so it doesn't require a cable (I've had it for >1 year and this is the first problem I've had).I downloaded Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and it says no wireless adapters can be found.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up Blast! Comcast/Xfinity internet (50mb/s) using an SB6120 modem and a linksys E3000 router. I haven't done anything yet, as i haven't received the modem in the mail yet, but i want to be prepared and knowledgeable when it all arrives. Here are my questions I've heard that running this router/modem setup on the N band at 5Ghz provides the best signal strength. How do i configure this? The main goal is to take advantage of as much of the 50mb/s as i can (i know this number is not practical due to overhead estimations etc).My newly built desktop has one free PCI-E slot (the other is occupied by my EVGA GTX 670) and 1 or 2 PCI slots. What's the best option to give my desktop wifi capabilities (pci card or usb adapter) in order to maximize signal strength? I'm about 10 feet away from the router, a door separates the computer from the router.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI finished building my computer today, installed a fresh os and all the necessary drivers that came with the dvds provided, yet the wireless card doesn't even appear anywhere in the computer. The ethernet cabled one does, but not the wireless. Trying to connect to anything wireless just gives an endless searching process, with no results. I can't test the ethernet either, my router is all the way into the living room, way far out of reach.
