My google search has recently stopped working in both IE and firefox. When i search bing or yahoo they work just fine. I have tried using google.com an also tried using the toobar on my computer.
View 6 RepliesA few days ago, all search engines stopped working on my computer on both IE and Firefox. Everything else works fine and I can surf the net using specific URLs but I can search for anything. I have tried a number of options and various anti-virus, spyware and malware scans but no infections are ever found. I have used, AVG, windows defender, and Malwarebytes.
View 16 Replies View RelatedUnsure if this is the correct forum but here goes.....I just installed the Google Chrome and after doing so it has been a hair pulling problem so to say. Now when I do a search with google almost every time it looks like the information site listed I click on it and am redirected to another search and if I try to go back to google search it will not let me off the page. I end up having to close that window and open a new window and research again on google. I open my old internet explorer and the same thing happens there now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust setting up and testing a Cisco 891-K9 router. Used CCP for basic setup, figure I'll tweak any settings needed later.For the firewall, I chose the default "medium" security setting in CCP, then added some holes (already setup in NAT) for outside access in.
Now on to the real question:I noticed that I am now unable to click through google search results. On any borwser. Clicking on any search result simply loops back around to the same google search page. If I disable Javascript on the browser, everything works as expected. So it appears that the firewall is preventing something in google's scripts from redirecting and "clicking through" to the final destination page.
I'm familiar with our old Pix firewall commands, but still a relative newcomer to the zone based firewall and commands for this new 891, (relevant Config pasted below) (Gi0 is the WAN interface)

I have a desktop and bought a wireless adapter to hook up to my apartment complex's wireless network through cox. We have had no connection issues for several weeks.Randomly, both IE and Firefox stopped displaying webpages. Firefox displays the message "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."Our apartment complex has tech support, so I called him and we went over so many things. The issue, as he says, is that when I do an ipconfig /release, I SHOULD be showing, under my wireless adapter, the ivp4 address as 0.0.0.0. When I do the release, it shows no ivp4 address, period. It shows I have, and am connected to, the internet and the connection. My apartment complex has 5 different wireless connections I can try, and all result in the same problem. I am able to ping google, yahoo, etc, but when I try to ping my apartment complex's wireless connection (their router) it fails.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless adapter and software, system restore, reinstalling windows, restarting the WAN service under services.smc, unchecking ivp6 under my wireless adapter properties. I have tried disabling McAfee and Windows Firewall. I have no idea what else I can do.I also should note that I have 2 computers of the exact same model, and both present this same exact problem when I connect the wireless adapter to it, so it leads me to believe it is something to do either with the adapter or something with the connection from the adapter to the router. (I can connect to the wireless connection but not to the router itself to login to my complex's internet agreement page.)I have Windows 7 32-bit. I was in the process of signing up for Netflix when this happened, and did not download anything.
I have windows 7. Search engines worked fine when first used, now all I get are errors, With IE9 and Firefox.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have cisco router 800 series 887 VAW. WiFi is connected to all my devices through this router, i.e., Windows XP, Vista, Wii, Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S. I can access internet from all these devices. The apps which are already downloaded on my Android devices connect to internet, but the bigest problem is here:
1. Google Play does not connect (on both Nexus 7 and Desire S).
2. Chrome does not work on Nexus 7
3. Nexus 7 fails to check for any system update.
4. Fails to sync accounts.
I tried to contact to the company which gave me this router, but they told the problem lies with my tablet. But the tablet works perfectly fine with others networks and Android phone works fine with 3G and other networks.
My internet stopped working all of the sudden on my 2nd computer my 1st computer works fine (using atm) my 2nd computer stopped working all of the sudden it worked fine for about 2 years but the internet just went off for some reason it shows a computer with a yellow triangle with a black exclamation point on the bottom right corner it says connected but with limited connectivity ive tryed everything i know it is a windows XP i even bought a new internet cable today and the computer still does not work im new to these forums.

My router has been working for close to 4 years now with minor problems, just stopped yesterday, All my PCs lost wifi access and then when I looked at my Linksys WRT300N only the 4 Ethernet port lights were on. Unplugged plugged it again, I connected one of the PCs to the one of the Ethernet port, the PC is reporting that there is nothing connected to the other side. It's been 4 years already, I do have a Linksys wireless G router even older than this which is till working. I guess its spoiled, I don't mind replacing it

If I plug the ethernet cable into the modem I can get on the internet if I plug the cable into the router then nothing. These are the details I got from the config all when I plugged the ethernet into the router.

I didn't think the issue was with the router so i called the Tech Support people from Brighthouse and they told me to connect directly to the modem so i did that and I had internet. But why would my router randomly stop working, I've had this Linksys Dual N bound router for a year and never had a problem with it. I want to think that its the internet providers fault but I guess I really don't know.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a toshiba satellite laptop (windows 7) with wireless on-board and an ethernet cable port. Up until last night, both worked flawlessly since I bought the computer a few years ago.
Now, the wireless still works in three different locations I have tried (i.e. three different networks), but the ethernet cable will not work. I thought it was the ethernet connection on the mobo at first, but then after acquiring a USB-NIC connection, I found I had the exact same problem... I can't connect to my router or even direct to the DSL modem using a ethernet cable. I know my system is good since all my other computers (7) work with wired connections, and my laptop doesn't work on other cables on which other computers do. Essentially, it appears that my computer has lost the ability to get an i.p. address using an ethernet cable of any kind. Both the onboard card and the usb-nic cable tell me they are 'working correctly' in the systems/devices/network adapters section. I have tried disabling one while trying the other. I have tried disabling the wireless while trying either, and still nothing.
I currently own a Sony Vaio Laptop that has been working fine for the last 2 years, I was happily on facebook when all of a sudden, my laptop started lagging massively and it disconnected me from wifi, I was shocked to find that when I tried reconnecting, the laptop decided to stop working for a second and my wifi stopped working completely, every time I disconnect the Ethernet cable from my laptop even though my wireless switch is on, it won't even pick up my Virgin Media superhub I have about 5 meters from my laptop, it indicates that there is NO wifi anywhere, just the ascending bars with a big red X on it

I have one computer wired directly in to it and a few laptops that use wireless connections.The power LED and the internet LED light up, but the status LED and the WLAN LED do nothing. Pushing the factory reset button on the back doesn't seem to do anything.Can't connect to the router site (192.168.0.1) The internet works fine when I plug in to it directly, so its definitely the router.

But, I can access its folders using Windows Explorer. Any other PC on the network can remote desktop to the server and connect. What happened to my machine? This message appears when i try to connect: "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of the following reasons:
1) Remote access tot he server is not enabled
2) The remote computer is turned off
3)The remote computer is not available on the network

"Ethernet Connection has stopped working".Its stopped working again and I've run the Network Test and the results are in the file REG.txt attached. I can connect to the internet via wireless OK but I had wireless turned off to run this test.I've proven the ethernet cable OK by connecting another pc to it which works OK.

I built my desktop, installed the ethernet drivers, and a week goes by no problems. All of a sudden the internet stopped working so i reinstalled my ethernet driver and no internet still. So to make sure it wasn't the ethernet cord i plugged it into my xbox and xbox live came up.

I was running Firmware 1.21, tried rebooting, resetting to factory, powered off the unit, etc. without success. Decided to Upgrade to the firmware to 135 NA, still no success. I went into a couple of online games (Bad Company 2 and World of Tanks) and would have a low ping showing in the game, but every 10-15 seconds, especially in areas with a lot of action, I would get large amounts of lag, making the games unplayable.I would be unable to move or keep getting 'teleported' back 20 feet. I looked into it maybe being the servers, steam in the case of bad company, or my internet provider, but regular internet actions are not affected at all. After searching for a while tweaking settings, turning off antivirus and firewalls, it made no difference.I finally today plugged my modem directly into my pc instead of leaving it on wireless, and all the problems go away. All packet tests and connection tests to my router have come back with no errors. Again, I have never had a problem just browsing the web or watching videos, and usually get more speed on speedtest.net than my provider even advertises. I also upgraded the router firmware.I tried going into my router settings and doing all I could (as I understand it) to have exceptions, port forward, and even did the one thing (can't remember what it's called) where you add one ip address that will have no limitations put on it by the router, and none of this has made it work.
