My desktop was wirelessly connected to a router. It was working perfect, I did a wired connection from the modem to the desktop and when I tried to get the wireless connection again it has not been possible. When I try network trouble shooting I get DNS server might be unavailable. Been reading around and tried many of the things that I've read but none has worked so far.
View 4 RepliesI have a Century Link modem connected to a Linksys router. I have three computers hooked up wireless. I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). Now I can only connect to the internet if I use a ethernet cable from the modem.

I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have run three computers on my wireless network for a few years now, and have an HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless printer that has worked seamlessly on all computers. That is, until I secured my router. I had an open wireless connection that I changed to secure (WPA) a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to connect to my printer wirelessly to print. It will print if connected to USB. The first day I was able to enter in my WPA key just fine, but not since. It doesn't appear to be finding my connection. Oddly enough one of our computers (a laptop) is able to print to this printer so I am not sure. All computers are running Windows XP, I believe with SP3. I use a D-link wireless router. I have tried using the HP solutions to no avail and have checked in the documentation that came with the printer.As an aside, I now appear to also have another wireless connection which is a "computer-to-computer" connection, I believe an ad-hoc connection?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried searching google and Cisco Home Community for this answer, but no luck. Maybe I didn't phrase my search correctly. I have an external drive connected to a mac mini which is shared on the network. When transferring folders to or from that external drive, our internet connection stops working until the transfer finishes, then comes back up. I've tested this in a variety of ways. Any transfer of data from shared folders in any combination of devices causes internet to stop working both on wired and wireless devices until the transfer is done, then they all work again. Router firmware: 1.0.03.

I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

I recently reinstalled Vista on my Dell laptop.Before that,I could view and open shared files on my XP desktop, although the PC couldn't see the laptop.Now, I can get online, but can't see the PC in Network places.I've ensured both have same workgroup name.I think it may be due to Norton Internet Security,which I've renewed and reinstalled from new disk.But the former one didn't prevent file-sharing, albeit one way,XP to Vista.Before I uninstall Norton again, is there anything else I should have done after Vista reinstall ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working on the computer and internet just stopped, checked the router and it doesn't show up in air-port pref on my Macbook Pro anymore. It was still on my iPhone, and then a few minutes later disappeared from my iPhones network as well. I've tried hard resetting etc, network name doesn't show up anymore, on ethernet to the modem now but tad uncomfortable sitting on the living room since I have the router and modem in my entertainment center.
All the lights work fine, and it lights up like normal but network went "poof".
Typing in ip of 192.168.0.1 just says google chrome cannot connect to that page. I had to play with my Mac for awhile as it wouldn't connect by ethernet till I figured out I had to uncheck passive FTP from Proxies.
I Have a HP dc5000MT desktop. I run an ethernet cable from its network card {Broad NetXtreme Gigabit} to a Westell 327W router{this has worked for the last four years}. My laptop connects to the internet through this router using wireless and for test purposes through the ethernet port. I installed a new network card {Dynex DX-E102 PCI NetworkAdaptor}in the desktop. When i'm enabling either the old or new card through Control Panel, Network Connections, i get the message "acquirin network address,Firewalled".and it never enables. I ran Malwarebytes and no infections were found. I use AVG anti-virus and Internet Explorer.
View 17 Replies View RelatedIt may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').

I was running Firmware 1.21, tried rebooting, resetting to factory, powered off the unit, etc. without success. Decided to Upgrade to the firmware to 135 NA, still no success. [CODE]My router stopped working when I tried to connect my new Samsung Smart TV to the wireless network by using the menu on the tv. I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

Last year all of a sudden my wireless internet stopped working and had to use a cable to connect to my router. A few months went by and i randomly got my wireless internet connection back for about 2-3 months now all of a sudden my wireless is out again. i ran tests in other threads posted on this subject and the only way they got it to work was to buy a usb connection. is this the only way im going to be able to get wireless back?

It will pick up the signal intermittently but produce painfully slow internet and then promptly lose the signal all together. The wireless connection is working perfectly on laptops and smart phones, even when in the same position from the router as my PC.

I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?

Came home after work last night and couldn't connect to the internet. Called Charter cable this morning and their troubleshooting showed I can connect to the internet fine if I bypass the router, so the issue must be with the router (and of course not their problem...). How do I trouble shoot this? I've tried powering down the router and releasing and renewing IP addresses but it hasn't worked.

It wouldn't make that much of a difference, but I already purchased a new LInksys Cisco EA3500, but I cannot get it to do my port forwarding. I have tried everything and nothing works. Have spent hours on the phone with tech support with no solution. My old WRT54GS just simply worked. The port forwarding worked perfect. I have tried the exact same setup in the new EA3500 and no luck no matter what I try.
So, is there anything I can do to get the old WRT54GS working? I have tried holding the reset button in for 1 minute and then unplugging it

I have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet!In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".
