View 3 RepliesI have a Century Link modem connected to a Linksys router. I have three computers hooked up wireless. I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). Now I can only connect to the internet if I use a ethernet cable from the modem.

I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?

Came home after work last night and couldn't connect to the internet. Called Charter cable this morning and their troubleshooting showed I can connect to the internet fine if I bypass the router, so the issue must be with the router (and of course not their problem...). How do I trouble shoot this? I've tried powering down the router and releasing and renewing IP addresses but it hasn't worked.

It wouldn't make that much of a difference, but I already purchased a new LInksys Cisco EA3500, but I cannot get it to do my port forwarding. I have tried everything and nothing works. Have spent hours on the phone with tech support with no solution. My old WRT54GS just simply worked. The port forwarding worked perfect. I have tried the exact same setup in the new EA3500 and no luck no matter what I try.
So, is there anything I can do to get the old WRT54GS working? I have tried holding the reset button in for 1 minute and then unplugging it
My M20 Valet Plus stopped working suddenly last night. Now no power lights will come on and it now longer transmitts as a connection point . No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck? Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.

I also had no connection on my mac which is wired to the WRT110. I bypassed the WRT110 and then I had a connection on my Mac meaning the WRT110 is the problem. Then today my computer shut down and when I turned it back on there was a connection but my computer was not responding to any commands. The icon shows full connectivity excellent connection. When I try to go to a web page it shows Connection Error and cannot get to any web pages.I am able to get on other wireless connections from neighbors but not mine. I have gone thru different directions on here and I am not technical and don't understand what is being said. I try to go to 192.168.1.1 and it asks for a password which I don't have. I have tried everything such as password and admin and get nothing.I am able to get my ip address and default gateway address and don't know the next step.

Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.

I've tried connecting the modem directly to my Mac and it works just fine (that's how I'm sending this message now). But when the modem is connected to the router, I get no data. It connects to both the 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz networks, but it refuses to send data through the pipe. I've tried power cycling both the modem and the router to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased an e4200 about 6 months ago and it worked great until the other night the Internet stopped working on my laptop (wireless). I tried unplugging both my modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router and plugging them back in, but no luck. I can accesss the Internet when plugged directly into the router (with both my PC and laptop), so it looks like the issue is with the e4200. To make matters worse (and I fear much worse), I can't even access the admin page to the router through either the Cisco Connect software or through the IP address. I've tried resetting it, I've tried the 30/30/30 reset (holding the reset button while doing an unplug and pluging back in), and reinstalling the Cisco Connect software, all to no avail.
I've found threads where others have not been able to access the admin page, but they still had access to the Internet url... I haven't found a similar thread where the router doesn't seem to work at all. A few other bits of information I can think of (let me know if there's other information I can provide):The Cisco logo light flashes slowly after reset which I believe is expected.The lights in back of the router seem to work as intended.Running Windows 7 Diagnostics finds the connection "doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and "The default gateway is not available."
My router was working just fine forever, the only computer that will connect VIA wire is my desktop, everything else for it to connect to my network it has to go wireless. Things like my blu ray player just will not connect. I am not an expert at all, but why is only the wireless working? I can use the Cisco connect and adjust the settings if need be.

I have an external drive connected to a mac mini which is shared on the network. When transferring folders to or from that external drive, our internet connection stops working until the transfer finishes, then comes back up. I've tested this in a variety of ways. Any transfer of data from shared folders in any combination of devices causes internet to stop working both on wired and wireless devices until the transfer is done, then they all work again. Router firmware: 1.0.03.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe ISP provided on the base is called Sniper Hill. The basic setup is there are CAT5e drops in every room. You plug in, and it is all web based to pay for and sign in to the service. Other people have successfully connected there routers made by other manufacturers, why won't the EA4500 connect? I've tried a lot of different ideas from reading different stuff round the net including the forums here. The Problem starts when after I sign in. When I open explorer I get the normal redirect to the sign in page. Once I sign in it's like the connection dies. I've seen a lot of suggestions that the server is picking up on a router on their network and blocks everything. I've tried mac addy clone, fixed IP, DMZ, NAT off, using the different connection types versus plain old Dynamic IP. The only thing I can tell you about the other routers people are using is they are a European version, you can tell by the plug that comes on them.

Pandora suddenly no longer works on it and neither does ESPN, it just times out. Very, very slow. I am very disappointed. I am using it with my Verizona westell DSL modem ... The TV sees the media on the device and music plays fine. However, every movie I've tried shows up with an exclamation point and when I try to play it I get a message to the effect that "unable to open media". Is the EA4500 media server only compatible with certain movies?
I recently upgraded my Wild blue internet service to the "Exede" system. When I kept losing the connection to my Mac Air book, the Wild blue service tech suggested that my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz router) was not robust enough to handle the increased "speed". They recommended I purchase a new router so I purchased the Linksys EA4500.
Now, after three weeks, the Linksys EA4500 router has stopped working. I am able to hook one of our Mac Books directly to the satellite modem to access the internet through an Ethernet connection. Finally, I finally reconnected my old Linksys Wireless G router to the modem to check to see if it would work and it does.
So, I'm wondering about the failure rate of the new Linksys EA4500 routers? Is there anything else I might try to get my new router to work??? However, now I can't access certain website like Hotmail, Facebook, a weather site and others.But I can connect to most other websites, stream video, etc. Any suggestions why I can't connect to Hotmail, Facebook, etc???? I have 3 laptops connected wirelessly and 2 pc's running wired (through homeplug system) plus TV, PS3 and ipods, all have run without issues.
All of a sudden 2 days ago all wireless connectivity stopped? SSID is still broadcasting and viewable but I can no longer connect with any computer or device. Wired connectivity is working fine.
I've checked security settings, turned off encryption, reset factory defaults, re-downloaded latest firmware and reflashed with no luck. As I said wirless stopped working all of a sudden with no changes to settings.
I've had the AE2500 adapter for a few weeks now, and it's worked fine up to this point. When I started up my computer today, however, it wouldn't connect to the network. I've uninstalled the software that came with the adapter and I've tried to reinstall it. However, when I got to the installation step to insert the adapter, the computer would not identify the AE2500. I've tried updating the drivers through the device manager, but I received an error stating that "a device attached to the system is not functioning".

I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

Unplugged plugged it again, I connected one of the PCs to the one of the Ethernet port, the PC is reporting that there is nothing connected to the other side. It's been 4 years already, I do have a Linksys wireless G router even older than this which is till working. I guess its spoiled, I don't mind replacing it
