My Linksys WRP400 router has stopped working. power led blinks red and orange - phone led 1 and 2 light green - wifi connection not work - ethernet LAN connection not work - ethernet WAN connection not work - router now work in bridge mode - factory reset using Reset switch not work - connected analogue phone not work I try dump traffic using ngrep on LAN and WAN port but no packet comes from the router.

However, now I can't access certain website like Hotmail, Facebook, a weather site and others.But I can connect to most other websites, stream video, etc. Any suggestions why I can't connect to Hotmail, Facebook, etc???? I have 4 computers (3 wired, 1 wireless) connected through the router and they all do the same thing.

I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). Now I can only connect to the internet if I use a ethernet cable from the modem.

I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?

Came home after work last night and couldn't connect to the internet. Called Charter cable this morning and their troubleshooting showed I can connect to the internet fine if I bypass the router, so the issue must be with the router (and of course not their problem...). How do I trouble shoot this? I've tried powering down the router and releasing and renewing IP addresses but it hasn't worked.

It wouldn't make that much of a difference, but I already purchased a new LInksys Cisco EA3500, but I cannot get it to do my port forwarding. I have tried everything and nothing works. Have spent hours on the phone with tech support with no solution. My old WRT54GS just simply worked. The port forwarding worked perfect. I have tried the exact same setup in the new EA3500 and no luck no matter what I try.
So, is there anything I can do to get the old WRT54GS working? I have tried holding the reset button in for 1 minute and then unplugging it
My M20 Valet Plus stopped working suddenly last night. Now no power lights will come on and it now longer transmitts as a connection point . No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck? Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.

Then today my computer shut down and when I turned it back on there was a connection but my computer was not responding to any commands. The icon shows full connectivity excellent connection. When I try to go to a web page it shows Connection Error and cannot get to any web pages.I am able to get on other wireless connections from neighbors but not mine. Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.

I've tried connecting the modem directly to my Mac and it works just fine (that's how I'm sending this message now). But when the modem is connected to the router, I get no data. It connects to both the 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz networks, but it refuses to send data through the pipe. I've tried power cycling both the modem and the router to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased an e4200 about 6 months ago and it worked great until the other night the Internet stopped working on my laptop (wireless). I tried unplugging both my modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router and plugging them back in, but no luck. I can accesss the Internet when plugged directly into the router (with both my PC and laptop), so it looks like the issue is with the e4200. To make matters worse (and I fear much worse), I can't even access the admin page to the router through either the Cisco Connect software or through the IP address. I've tried resetting it, I've tried the 30/30/30 reset (holding the reset button while doing an unplug and pluging back in), and reinstalling the Cisco Connect software, all to no avail.
I've found threads where others have not been able to access the admin page, but they still had access to the Internet url... I haven't found a similar thread where the router doesn't seem to work at all. A few other bits of information I can think of (let me know if there's other information I can provide):The Cisco logo light flashes slowly after reset which I believe is expected.The lights in back of the router seem to work as intended.Running Windows 7 Diagnostics finds the connection "doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and "The default gateway is not available."
My router was working just fine forever, the only computer that will connect VIA wire is my desktop, everything else for it to connect to my network it has to go wireless. Things like my blu ray player just will not connect. I am not an expert at all, but why is only the wireless working? I can use the Cisco connect and adjust the settings if need be.

Rebooted everything, had ISP clear arp on their cable modem yet nothing going. As soon as I remove the 1 to 1 NAT on the router the PC has internet access. Add the 1 to 1 back and no out going internet. The configuration is pretty basic and has not changed.Thinking it could be a hardware issue I swapped it out with another RV042 I have with the exact config, same thing 1 to 1 NATs have no internet access. Upgraded one of the RV042 firmware to Firmware Version: 1.3.13.02-tm, had cable modem replaced, spent numerous calls with ISP. nada
I have found one interesting thing however, any internal machine which is set to dhp works fine, and static ip that does not have a 1 to 1 nat works fine and the last ip in the 1 to 1 nat range works fine. If I extend the range it is always only the last ip that works. Even if I add 1 to 1 nats one line at a time, it is always the last entry that works..
I tried searching google and Cisco Home Community for this answer, but no luck. Maybe I didn't phrase my search correctly. I have an external drive connected to a mac mini which is shared on the network. When transferring folders to or from that external drive, our internet connection stops working until the transfer finishes, then comes back up. I've tested this in a variety of ways. Any transfer of data from shared folders in any combination of devices causes internet to stop working both on wired and wireless devices until the transfer is done, then they all work again. The phone was working fine untill yesterday. 8 x 8 tech support suggested getting a different router. I have the same router at home and tried the same phone on my home router - it worked. I have the router logs e-mailed to me, and I can see that the system boots up with Jan 1 2010 as the system date, but it eventually gets the correct date from NTP, so I'm doubting this is causing the problem.

I have a 6 month old RV042 with the newest firmware (v4.2.1.02). Over the weekend I configured the DMZ which after a lot of trial and error, was able to get working. Prior to configuring DMZ, I was able to log in with remote management. However now remote management no longer works. I've tried:
- Rebooting the router
- Turning the firewall off/on
- Turning remote management off/on
- Changing the remote management port
The only step I haven't taken is resetting the router back to factory defaults and trying to reconfigure it all again. This router is so finicky I have no faith I'd be able to get my current functionality back again.

This router support bridge mode, but i'm unable to configure it. There's no such option in the web configuration page, but the manual says that disabling nat activates automatic routing mode. Unfortunately all i get when i disable nat is to be unable to reach any wan address.
By watching the generated routing table on the wrp400 (when in NO nat mode) i see that 0.0.0.0 is correctly set up to use the external border router, but any incoming packet from the wrp400 lan port isn't routed there.
Also, i don't get any dhcp from the external router, this means the wrp400 is blocking it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly. I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one. Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long? i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.
My router has been working for close to 4 years now with minor problems, just stopped yesterday, All my PCs lost wifi access and then when I looked at my Linksys WRT300N only the 4 Ethernet port lights were on. Unplugged plugged it again, I connected one of the PCs to the one of the Ethernet port, the PC is reporting that there is nothing connected to the other side. It's been 4 years already, I do have a Linksys wireless G router even older than this which is till working. I guess its spoiled, I don't mind replacing it
