Cisco Routers :: WRP400 - Audio Drops For 5 To 15 Seconds On Each Packet Error?
Oct 29, 2012
On several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly. I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one. Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long? i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.

Since a few days my WRT120N gives an audio alarm (beep) about every 10 secs. Cannot find how to overcome this or find the root cause. Installed new s/w version. H/W reset. Nothing works.

We have a customer running a Asterisk based Phone system, using Snom 320 phones and a ESW-520-24P as their switch.
Recently we have been confronted with an issue where every 35 seconds their is a very obvious drop of audio for both parties of a call. We know it is not the phone system as we have run tests directly over the BT copper lines that have no drops what so ever. Unfrotunately when we introduce the LAN in any way, we get the drops every 35 seconds.
We are running the whole solution on 1 vlan, yes I know probably better to use two, but the Cisco cannot automatically detect the Snom 320 phones to swap it to another VLAN, which complicates using a VLAN setup.
I really need to work out how to stop these packet drops, but I am new to the world of Cisco and dont really know where to look or what to try.

This router support bridge mode, but i'm unable to configure it. There's no such option in the web configuration page, but the manual says that disabling nat activates automatic routing mode. Unfortunately all i get when i disable nat is to be unable to reach any wan address.
By watching the generated routing table on the wrp400 (when in NO nat mode) i see that 0.0.0.0 is correctly set up to use the external border router, but any incoming packet from the wrp400 lan port isn't routed there.
Also, i don't get any dhcp from the external router, this means the wrp400 is blocking it.
how to set up a bridge mode between wan and lan ports

My wireless network is connected through a Netgear WNDR3700 router. My pc (see sig) connects to the router via a Netgear WNDA3100v2 adaptor.
Every 30-60 seconds I hear the audible alert & dialog box telling me my computer is now connected to the internet. So that means every 30-60 my computer must be losing access to the internet. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's going on, to no avail.
I've done all the obvious troubleshooting.
- rebooted cable modem
- rebooted router
- uninstalled & reinstalled drivers
- connected via both 2.4g & 5g radios
- reset & reconfig router settings

New laptop, connected to my home network which is very stable and has no history of connection issues. After about 10 seconds the laptop drops the connection. Sometimes it'll come back for a while sometimes not, haven't observed any pattern in this yet, All I've done since starting the computer for the first time is installed all the junk that comes with it (Nero stuff mostly) and installed all windows updates (there were over 60 of them) and AVG Free edition. Before doing all that the connection was still not right but it did hold for a lot longer than 10 seconds. It held for over an hour downloading programs like Itunes, AVG and Firefox, Going to control panel > network sharing centre when the connection is down I see the yellow exclamation mark between my computer and my network. Troubleshooting this resets the network adapter, gives me the error 'The default gateway is not available' and says that it is fixed. The connection then works again for about 10 seconds and drops once more.

I've recently bought a new desktop with a TL-wdn4800 wireless device. when i start up i instantly get full bars for my wireless however after about a minute, it drops down to one bar, and becomes hardly usable. i'm wondering if this is the device turning itself off and reverting back to the default inbuilt wireless device?

We have a bunch of computers(70 aprox) connected to a domain. Since couple weeks ago very strange issues started occuring, internet and network access(path to network share is lost) would come up at random times and on different machines and would last for about 10-20 seconds it would re-connect again. All the computers are using private addresses. Most machines are windows 7, some are xp.Using Windows server 2003 as dc.Since the occurance is so random it's very hard to pin point the cause.

I've been having an issue with my Dell, when it goes into Power Save Mode (not Sleep or Hibernate), my Graphics Card crashes and I can't see anything when I move the mouse to Wake Up my screen. This is something I have come to live with since I hear the Power Supply for my Graphics Card is too weak (AMD 7870). Sometimes, I have to do a Hard Reboot by holding the Power button and then restarting the computer.
I did that yesterday and realized that my internet connection keeps cutting every 5-10 seconds (literally). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. What I did so far was uninstall the driver and get the latest one. That hasn't worked at all.
I have 2 other devices connected to my Wi-Fi, a Dell Laptop that is working perfectly and a smartphone. Both of these haven't been dropping the connection at all. I'm thinking that either something became corrupt by doing my Hard Reboots or it's some kind of compatibility issue. I bought this computer in November 2012 and haven't had an issue like this since but now I can't do anything on web because it takes ages to visit websites.

We have a Cisco 1760 router . We are facing sevier packet drops in the serial interface.
When i swap the router with another router link is working working fine.
Troubleshooting steps taken
1. Swap the serial cable with another working cable : no change in state
2. Reconfigure the encapsulation commands (with PPP and HDLC) : no change in state
3. Try with a decreased MTU packet Ping : no change in state
4. Decreased the Input queue and increased the output queue size using hold-queue in command : Comparatively the packet drop is reducing but still a 10 percent drop is happening.

Advanced networking but have managed to get our small office IP PBX running over a SIP Trunk. The only real problem we are having is choppy outgoing audio when there is other heavy outgoing traffic on the network.
My understanding is that I need to set some QoS parameters, which I have played with but it didn't seem to be useful. I mostly dealt with allocating bandwidth. I now think I need to somehow prioritize the outgoing RTP packets from our PBX (which runs on a PC on our LAN) to avoid the choppy audio. My research shows this can maybe be done with something called DSCP 46 and my router does support that -- how to exactly set the configuration.
Our router is a Cisco rv180w.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a random packet drop issue for an IPSec tunnel between two VTIs. For over a month, we didn't see any issue, and starting today, we have up to 30% packet loss across an IPSec tunnel.
After some analysis, I concluded that the packet loss happens somewhere on the path from the uc520 to the 2921. Packet counts show up correctly on the uc520 physical egress interface, but the packet count is low on the ingress interface on the 2921.
Pings outside the tunnel along the same path are fine.
I also cleared the tunnels on both ends and after they reestablished, the issue was still present.
Any pointers on finding where the packets get lost?

When I checked the specific Ip address I am getting the same with two different. [code] Vlan is created on CORE switch and assign priority 0 than CORE switch should be the Root. but instead Root port is becoming the port where server is connected. Server at last connected to CORE switch via HP switch via other Vlan to CORE switch and creating a loop as shown in Diag. Have a pair of 2960's in a stack, one port(trunk) connects to another DC and we are seeing ~5% packet-loss and large output drops to this DC.
#sh interfaces gigabitEthernet 1/0/17 counters errors
Port Align-Err FCS-Err Xmit-Err Rcv-Err UnderSize OutDiscards
Gi1/0/17 0 0 0 0 0 182867

Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is a0cf.5b87.ec11 (bia a0cf.5b87.ec11)
Description: QinQ_to_DC2
[code]....
As you can see, 30sec rate isnt excessive, but as the drops are outdiscards it would appear we are getting hit by the small buffers/microburst issue.

I have two 1410 bridges installed in a point to point link using external directional antennas. The distance between the bridges is only 200M. As you can see below from the output the RSSI and SNR are excellent with a good fade margin available. These stats are almost identical to what my path profile calculated out to be. During normal operation the latency on this link sub 2ms, during certain conditions the latency jumps to 40+ms and starts dropping packets. I say certain conditions because we have not been able to pinpoint it. Unfortunately at this time the customer does not have the ability to do any SNMP polling or collect any statistical information (working on getting this setup). There are an excessive number of data retries and am not sure if that is normal. During the issues I have observered the below command output and the numbers did not change, which leads to me believe that it is not a RF issue. It almost looks like it's serialization delay, but I have no data to back that up. During iperf performance testing of this wireless link I could push 54Mbps of UDP traffic no problem, no errors, no CRC's.

Encryption: WPA-PSK w/TKIP
Distance parameter: Configured to 1

our C3750 like the one described here [URL]
We have the port on the switch set like this:
switchport port-security maximum 25
switchport port-security
switchport port-security aging time 2
switchport port-security violation restrict
switchport port-security aging type inactivity
In case a device connected to the port is inactive for more than 2 minues ( aging time ) the first frame/packet the device generates arrives to the port on the switch, but the switch does not forward it to the appropriate port ( discards it or whatever ).
So far I tested on
1 30 WS-C3750E-24PD 15.0(2)SE2 C3750E-IPBASEK9-M
2 30 WS-C3750E-24PD 15.0(2)SE2 C3750E-IPBASEK9-M
3 52 WS-C3750G-48PS 15.0(2)SE2 C3750-IPBASEK9-M
[Code].....
When we remove port security from the port, it works perfectly fine, as expected.
It seems this is not HW or IOS version related. It seems it is not a stack synchronization issue, it does not matter if a device is connected to the first or other stack member. I tested on C3560 too, here there are no problems, so seems it is 3750 related.

I have an E1200 and am time out and packet loss issues. The internet connection is fine for 30 seconds to five minuets and then everything times out for 15-20 seconds. Although it’s only a minor incontinence to web browsing, it makes playing games and watching videos a nightmare. “Lost connection to server error.” and the like…
I upgraded to a new router, the e1200 I am currently using, from my Tenda 10/100 N. The problems where the same that I am experience currently and the reason I bought it in the firs place. When I directly connect to the cable modem, I have no issues and everything is fine.I have run a trace route and the second hop, (the router to the modem) is the choke point.I have cloned the MAC address.I have updated the firmware and hard reset
I have throttled my MTU to automatic, 1500, and 1472. None making any difference.I have disabled NAT and all that does is kill my internet connection.I have disabled all firewalls router and windows, no change.I replaced the physical wire from the router to the modem.I have disconnected all devices except one computer, and no difference.I ran a DNS trace and I have… non routable local internet address 192.168.1.1 DNS-cac-lb-01.rr.com and DNS-cac-lb-02.rr.com.I am using windows 7 and my ISP is time Warner so-cal.

I am having some difficulties using RDP on the LAN of the router. I previously had a Linksys E4200 router, and I was able to RDP from my Win7 computer (192.168.1.139) to my Win2k3 server on the LAN (192.168.1.251) with no issues. However, when I replace the E4200 with the WRVS4400N, the connection will only work for a few seconds.
It is not exclusive to RDP connections on the LAN either... I get a similar error when attempting to connect to computers off site. I could see MTU's being an issue if it was over a VPN connection, but there is no VPN involved in this case.

I have a wierd "2 second delay" issue with audio generation on a SRP527w.When in a call, with myself on both ends of the setup DECTphone - FXSport on SRP527w - VOIPprovider <> PSTN/GSM - Mobile I can hear my voice on the mobile immediately, as expected. However, the same words i speak (having both the DECT and the Mobile at my ears), are heared on the DECT with 2 seconds delay. Trust me when I say that this is the base for a poor rated telephone call and misunderstandings therein.
This issue is the same when calling to other mobiles and even land-lines, both in being called and being the calling party... Every time the voice from the other side is heard "delayed" on the DECT. Testing the DECT on a normal non-voip connection results in a normal conversation, as far as this is possible with me talking to myself I do have a separate CBR pvc for the voice on the SRP and to investigate the issue I've put the SIP user on a soft client, using a UBR pvc on the same SRP, both pvc's do use the same provider but diverend gateways. And with the UBR + softphone i do not have this "2sec delay" issue.
So, ruffly said this seems to locate the issue in the SIP>FXS DSP, with specific only the digital>analog decoding/generation (not with the analog>digital encoding, as i hear myself normally on the mobile, with no/normal msecs delay).

I have a WRP400 VOIP Cisco router.... The WRP400 seems to hamper my ability to access outside the network over time. If the router is plugged in for an amount of time, my broadband (35mb UPC) gradually tapers down to nothing. As soon as I restart the router, my broadband access shoots back up to the full 35mb.I've been on to UPC numerous times, they say their connection is stable & good..... must be router.I have a DVR (security camera system) that when plugged into the WRP400, seems to exacerbate the issue. It normally takes the router two few days to hamper internet access.when I plug-in the DVR internet access goes from 35mbps to 0.5mbps in a few hours. I've update the Firmware to the latest Version: 2.00.26.

I recently moved to a cable ISP and unfortunately had to also change routers in order to take advantage of the VoIP feature (analog phone) they provided me with. Now, the new router, the WRP400, is very limited feature-wise compared to the custom flashed WRT54GL I used to use with my DSL provider. Now the WRT54GL does not have any FXS ports, so I obviously can't just plug my cable modem to the WRT54GL. Therefore, I was hoping to achieve a setup similar to this one:Cable modem => VoIP Router w/ voice only (WRP400) => "Main" router (WRT54GL w/ Tomato)Is there a way to bridge the WRP400 successfully with the WRT54GL keeping only the voice feature enabled on the VoIP router while the WRT54GL takes care of the rest? (Wireless, WAN, port forwarding, etc)
