I've recently bought a new desktop with a TL-wdn4800 wireless device. when i start up i instantly get full bars for my wireless however after about a minute, it drops down to one bar, and becomes hardly usable. i'm wondering if this is the device turning itself off and reverting back to the default inbuilt wireless device?
View 1 RepliesNew laptop, connected to my home network which is very stable and has no history of connection issues. After about 10 seconds the laptop drops the connection. Sometimes it'll come back for a while sometimes not, haven't observed any pattern in this yet, All I've done since starting the computer for the first time is installed all the junk that comes with it (Nero stuff mostly) and installed all windows updates (there were over 60 of them) and AVG Free edition. Before doing all that the connection was still not right but it did hold for a lot longer than 10 seconds. It held for over an hour downloading programs like Itunes, AVG and Firefox, Going to control panel > network sharing centre when the connection is down I see the yellow exclamation mark between my computer and my network. Troubleshooting this resets the network adapter, gives me the error 'The default gateway is not available' and says that it is fixed. The connection then works again for about 10 seconds and drops once more.

Every 30-60 seconds I hear the audible alert & dialog box telling me my computer is now connected to the internet. So that means every 30-60 my computer must be losing access to the internet. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's going on, to no avail.
I've done all the obvious troubleshooting.
- rebooted cable modem
- rebooted router
- uninstalled & reinstalled drivers
- connected via both 2.4g & 5g radios
- reset & reconfig router settings
Just three days ago, all of a sudden, my net drops off every 20secs like clockwork, only affecting the wireless.At the moment, my router is connected to the modem, and my computer upstairs is running through the wireless connection from the router (not the modem) - though it makes no difference the problem happens with either.

We have a bunch of computers(70 aprox) connected to a domain. Since couple weeks ago very strange issues started occuring, internet and network access(path to network share is lost) would come up at random times and on different machines and would last for about 10-20 seconds it would re-connect again.All the computers are using private addresses.Most machines are windows 7, some are xp.Using Windows server 2003 as dc.Since the occurance is so random it's very hard to pin point the cause.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with my Dell, when it goes into Power Save Mode (not Sleep or Hibernate), my Graphics Card crashes and I can't see anything when I move the mouse to Wake Up my screen. This is something I have come to live with since I hear the Power Supply for my Graphics Card is too weak (AMD 7870). Sometimes, I have to do a Hard Reboot by holding the Power button and then restarting the computer.
I did that yesterday and realized that my internet connection keeps cutting every 5-10 seconds (literally). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. What I did so far was uninstall the driver and get the latest one. That hasn't worked at all.
I have 2 other devices connected to my Wi-Fi, a Dell Laptop that is working perfectly and a smartphone. Both of these haven't been dropping the connection at all. I'm thinking that either something became corrupt by doing my Hard Reboots or it's some kind of compatibility issue. I bought this computer in November 2012 and haven't had an issue like this since but now I can't do anything on web because it takes ages to visit websites.
On several calls i noticed that the outgoing audio stops for 5..15 seconds randomly. I'd say it happens on an average of every 5 minutes.
When this happens, i can see that the value after "Call1 Packet error:" increases by one. Why just a wrong packet may stop the outgoing audio for so long? i've much more packet losts (about 3%) but they give me no problem at all.
Since a little and cheaper Handytone HT502 gave me intermittent audio too, but the effect was much better (audio still stops, but in a second it comes back), i wonder if is there something i can do by tweaking the WRP400 settings, I'm still using firmware 1.01.00.
Our entire office runs on wireless connections (laptops, printers, desktops, etc) and we have little to no connectivity issues considering. However, we just purchased a new dell laptop. the laptop connected but within 5 seconds immediate loses the connection and reconnects, disconnects, etc.. This is continuous. All other devices, 2 other never-before connected laptops and a tablet have all sucessfully connected without issues...only this new dell laptop does it. The laptop connects and stays connected to all other wifi connections we have tried it with (other corporate wifi and home wifi's). Dell has replaced the wireless card to confirm there was not issue with that (which I was confident there wasn't). Our IT contact suggests buying a new $500 router, but that is a little hard for me to accept seeing that only 1 device is having difficulties (his other reason for this was his concern that he couldn't access something like the router's management tool, or something like that). Everything seemed to be working just fine, then this happened to me once but the problem disappeared itself. The problem I am having is my wired internet connection is going out every minute or so and stays out for about 1-2 seconds at a time sometimes it stays out for around 3-4 mins usually twice a day. This problem has been occurring everyday for the past 2 or so years some days it is worse. I have power cycled the modem and router many times, replaced the router, replaced the modem bypassed the router and it always does the same thing. I have gotten cox cable to come out many times, once was to replace the modem, and it conveniently does not have problems when they come then i look stupid. I have showed them the screen shots of the outages from pinging multiple points on the network as shown in the attached screen shot, as you can see in window labeled 1 is a continuous ping of google.com, window 2 is the first hop on the tracert as shown at the bottom of the picture, window 3 is my modem, and window 4 is my router.
As you can see I never lose connection to my router or modem and it is the same when i run tests from other devices. Every time I call them or show them this picture the only response I get is there are no reported outages and to try to reset my modem and router or they can send a tech. When the tech comes there seems to be no problems and I show him the screen shots and he writes it off as peak hour malfunctions even though it does it at non-peak hours as well. Then when he leaves It starts to freak out again I have gone through this scenario at least 3 or 4 times and at this point am getting very frustrated. Even though it is not very noticeable with normal web browsing in gaming and streaming it is a nightmare. I would have already switched service providers if there were any other that service my area.
Basically my modem will randomly disconnect (all the lights shut down expect for the power one) for 2-3 seconds max and it happens just at a random time. When I'm on my PC I barely notice cause I'm not consistently loading something up. However, when I'm gaming (PS3) it's really frustrating because I will always get disconnected. The router is working fine and my PS3 is connected by wire. What should I do? Can it be my internet provider?

2 of the computers are connected wired to the router, the internet on them works fine. My other computer I have connected via wireless, and when I try to go on the internet every 3 seconds it is saying not available. Now one thing I noticed was that when I connected to the wireless network it renamed it to my computers service tag. I confirmed this via a friends laptop. From "Busted" to "DCLZMRH1_Network", defenetly not something I did.
When this wireless computer is connected, ALL computers on the network begin having the same problem where each 3 seconds everybody is disconnected randomly. However as soon as I turn the wireless computer off, everything goes back to normal on the wired computers.
I have successfuly replicated this issue using 2 different wireless adapters, one USB, and one "wired" the one you put on the inside (lol) I have Brighthouse Networks cable internet

I have been with AT&T Uverse at the current place I'm living for almost a month. During Xirrus' "Ping" testing (Yes, I Googled the hell out of and troubleshot this irritation for now almost two days first) my PC's connection died and was unable to locate my connection for at least 30 seconds. This had happened several times yesterday as well with the following instances :EVE Online x 2 clients I lost a thorax cause of itFive peripheral programs: Mumble, Pidgeon, Pyfa, EVEHQ, Garpa At least five tabs open on ChromeMisc software.In the past few days my PC's connection has been highly intermittent-and that's at best. First I thought it has something to do with my video drivers which I updated to no effect. Then I thought it might have something to do with some of the software I use for EVE Online which had me trying variations of running programs to still no useful effect.
I've also switched from the internal wireless device to a NetGear Dual Band adapter, but unfortunately it still produces the same results. This put me at a loss. If my other devices are staying connected, but two independent network devices produced the same failing result on the same PC...wth maaaan. Software? Hardware?
First of all, this is how my connection looks like:
PC & Xbox 360 -> Router (Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT firmware) -> Modem (Arris TM602B) Everything is working just fine, except for every now and then (sometimes a few times per day), when my modem decides to "stop working" for a second or two. I do not know if it is exactly the modem, but i guess that it is.
What happens, is that for a second or two, all the lights on modem stop blinking or turns off, except "Power", "DS" and "US". Those lights stays turned on. After a second or two, all the lights continues working normally.
It would not even be that big of an issue, as i would not mind if my internet radio has stopped working for a second or if i had to wait a second before continuing with browsing the web, but it becomes an annoying issue, while i am playing video games on Xbox Live. This is what causes me to disconnect from an online game, even though, everything works normally after - until it happens again.
I am having some difficulties using RDP on the LAN of the router. I previously had a Linksys E4200 router, and I was able to RDP from my Win7 computer (192.168.1.139) to my Win2k3 server on the LAN (192.168.1.251) with no issues. However, when I replace the E4200 with the WRVS4400N, the connection will only work for a few seconds.
It is not exclusive to RDP connections on the LAN either... I get a similar error when attempting to connect to computers off site. I could see MTU's being an issue if it was over a VPN connection, but there is no VPN involved in this case.
I am using a desktop computer and have the router downstairs so I am using a wireless usb to connect to the internet. My router is a Linksys E1000 and the wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. The problem is Every few mins I drop connection for may 5-30 secs and then the internet is fine. During that time it does not say I only have local connection or anything like that it constantly says I have internet connection even when I dont. It is very noticable when i am playing an online game on my computer. I will get a few mins in and then it will drop kicking me out of the game and by the time I get kicked out my Internet is reconnected and I can join again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and have been experiencing problems when connecting to my personal wireless network. It seems that whenever I'm downloading anything or using the connection extensively I'll lose internet connection and the wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show an orange star to indicate that connections are available. However if I go to available networks I can immediately reconnect to the network I was on.
I have other notebooks that run on XP that do not have this issue and use the connection without a problem. Also when I connect my notebook directly to my belkin router via Ethernet cable the connection has issues. I'm running my computer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my Wireless adapter is an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi adapter which appears to have up to date drivers.
I already have an existing wireless network set up. Since buying a laptop the internet wireless connection drops out from the laptop after 'sleeping'. I then have to troubleshoot to get the connection back again.

But this last week, when ever I wake my monitor up after it's power saving mode kicks in, I lose my internet connection for about 15 seconds. If you look at the router before the monitor is on, I am connected. The light is on for port 1. But as soon as my monitor gets turned back on, it light just turns off and will reconnect after about 15 seconds. I've looked it up online and can only find things about when the entire system wakes up, and usually those people have to reboot their entire system to get a connection again, or turn the router off then back on. Using Windows 7?

The device is alive and kicking, can route between different interfaces, but it's connection to the cloud dies. This happens every 45 minutes or so during our peak internet usage.

I am trying to track down a problem I am having with one laptop. Other wireless devices on the network are not showing the same problem. Connecting to the router by ethernet resolves the problem.Over a 120 second period, the wireless connection drops and reconnects several times. Each time it drops it almost immediately picks up and re-connects. The "down time" is usually between 5 and 20 seconds.I have updated the driver for the wireless card (it was out of date) but this did not resolve.
Reading posts here - I see you typically need to see a WiFi inspector screen shot - which I have attached. You can see a couple of "drops" on the graph.
My wireless connection randomly drops, or has no Internet connection, or says it has connection and Internet but no web pages load. Usually, what happens is it says I have no Internet connection. I have to disconnect and reconnect to get the Internet back. My ethernet connected computer never loses connection.
I am running Windows 7 with a Realtek wireless card. I have updated the driver to the latest. The wireless router is a D-Link 615 e1 using DD-WRT. The router is hooked up to a Brighthouse Arris TM402G/110 modem for internet access (note: this is my second modem. I had the same problem with another modem. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name.)
When the router is connected to a U-Verse 2Wire 3800HGV modem/wireless router (with the wireless turned off) I have no Internet disconnections. Everything else is the same (I just move the Ethernet cable between the two modems). Of course, one is just a modem and the other is a NAT router/modem.
I noticed that the wireless connection has a weaker signal when connected to the Brighthouse modem then when connected to the U-Verse modem. I therefore tried to up the TX signal strength on the router. This improved the situation (and the signal strength) but I still get disconnects. I also tried setting the MSS to 1492.
Been searching threads here and all over google. I have DSL thru Century Link.Router is Zyxel pk5001z. 2 laptops being used. ( well, they were until my MB fried out.) My laptop has Win 7, my girlfriends has Vista.- Dell inspiron 1525. Only had the service for about 2 mo's. My laptop was working fine wirelessly. Hers drops constantly.Currently hers is the only one being used.Sometimes shows the red x, other times just local only.- Drops and reconnects within seconds. I have set channel to 6 and 11. disabled IPC 6 in laptop adapter, uninstalled/reinstalled wireless card in device manager, checked for newer driver, checked for firmware upgrade in modem, set to g/n only, ( no option for G only) connection strenth is full. No wirless phones, no close neighbors, etc. I have read posts indicating the routers are junk, other posts saying Vista has issues with certian routers, but nothing that pinpoints my exact problem. Also, just re-loaded Vista the other day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 routers the first is plugged into the telephone line and has a power-line adapter plugged into it the second router which is downstairs is just to extend the range,unfortunately I have a very poor connection (wireless) and internet often drops out. I want to reset the power-line adapter but but will this mean that the connection will be lost from the second router and it is just my computer that is wrong? My trouble is that I don't think the power-line adapter is working but it might be or... its just that the they both connect between each other wirelessly? Or do they both connect to each other wirelessly? both connections from each router are pretty poor. I have updated my wireless card as well. I am not resetting the power line adapter until I know the internet is going to be fine afterwards as my Dad needs it for his work

It seems to keep a connection alive, but the wireless signal will suddenly and randomly disappear from all of my devices. I have reviewed this forum for hours and have made many changes to my settings, but nothing seems to keep the wireless signal from dropping.
Deleted the B mode, made sure the DNS entries were present, stick on one channel, etc. There are no other routers here and all of my phones operate on the 5 Ghz frequencies.
I never, not even once in three years, had this problem with the A version of the same router, but now it's a constant problem at least once a day. Nothing has changed by the router same brand and model but the newer hardware version.
The only remedy I have found is to reboot the router -- my devices will reconnect automatically once the router reboots, but there is no connection discovered once the connection drops regardless of how long the router sits doing its thing.
I've also notices that there are no wireless clients showing under status/wireless...they were there earlier today, but since the latest reboot, gone.
DLink 655 Fully Upgraded Firmware Multiple Laptops have the same issue, each has a different O/S from OSX to xp, vista and win 7. As soon as any laptop tries to download files, youtube, even web pages... There is nothing wrong with my wired connection. The thing is, each laptop gets disconnected then almost instantly reconnected. It is very annoying.The only thing I have found to fix it is turning off my wireless security completely. This is unacceptable! I am a computer scientist and in the security field. Ive tried WEP with both key sizes, WPA-Personal is what I originally was using before I started changed settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DIR-655 and my internet connection drops every day. I have replaced the DIR-655 with a linksys just to try it and it works fine. This has happened with more than 1 of these 655''s. Also I have clients calling saying the wireless drops and it will not let them reconnect until I reboot the router. I have updated to the newest firmware with the same issues. I know its not bad cause I have more than 1 655 doing the same thing at a different location as well.

The wireless connection is very unstable. It's configured with WPA2 Personal and is connected through a POE-switch with IPv4. The logs don't answer the questions why it drops the connection.
