Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Loses Connection To Cloud For 50 Seconds Hourly

I have an ASA 5505 that during preak usage, likes to lose it's connection to the cloud for 50 seconds. The device is alive and kicking, can route between different interfaces, but it's connection to the cloud dies. This happens every 45 minutes or so during our peak internet usage.
 
the nastyness of the config, I was having issues getting PPTP pass-thru to cooperate, and never cleaned up after myself.

Modem Randomly Loses Connection For A Few Seconds?

Basically my modem will randomly disconnect (all the lights shut down expect for the power one) for 2-3 seconds max and it happens just at a random time. When I'm on my PC I barely notice cause I'm not consistently loading something up. However, when I'm gaming (PS3) it's really frustrating because I will always get disconnected. The router is working fine and my PS3 is connected by wire. What should I do? Can it be my internet provider?

I have an ASA-5510 in a location that loses connectivity to the wan gateway after anywhere from five to fifteen minutes.  At first I thought that the unit might be defective, but I replaced it with an ASA-5505 with similar results.  A reload of the ASA-5510 will restore connectivity for the next quarter hour.

New Dell Laptop Connects Then Loses Wireless Connection Within Seconds?

Our entire office runs on wireless connections (laptops, printers, desktops, etc) and we have little to no connectivity issues considering. However, we just purchased a new dell laptop. the laptop connected but within 5 seconds immediate loses the connection and reconnects, disconnects, etc.. This is continuous. All other devices, 2 other never-before connected laptops and a tablet have all sucessfully connected without issues...only this new dell laptop does it. The laptop connects and stays connected to all other wifi connections we have tried it with (other corporate wifi and home wifi's). Dell has replaced the wireless card to confirm there was not issue with that (which I was confident there wasn't). Our IT contact suggests buying a new $500 router, but that is a little hard for me to accept seeing that only 1 device is having difficulties (his other reason for this was his concern that he couldn't access something like the router's management tool, or something like that). New Laptop is running W7 OS..

I had an experience this week of installing a 5510 ASA with 8.4.3, also tried 8.4.4(1) with the strange effect that I randomly was losing contact with the internet. The interface stayed up/up. no errors or what so ever on the interface. Reseat of the DSL wire no result. Reseat of the outside interface cable made it work again. And after some time lost connectivity again. It did not recover by itself so had to let someone do a reseat again and again and.... The outside was using DHCP client. A lease was given and an IP also. Nothing strange to find. Talked to the provider which could see the DSL and the DHCP lease. Finally I downgraded the firmware to 8.4.2 and the problem was solved.

We're getting "Connaction Timeout / Connection Failure" error messages several time per day. Here is our setup:
 
Verizon FiOS Internet (ONT Box) --> Cisco ASA 5505 --> EdgeMarc 4500 Router --> Cisco 300-24G Switch --> Dell PE1950 Servers
 
From past few months, we keep getting Connection Timeout and Connection Failure error messages in our vendor application which connects to SQL Server 2005. Also Terminal Server 2003 keep disconnecting for every few hours.After several days of troubleshooting, we come to know that this Cisco ASA 5500 is not working properly. When I access the ASDM, it shows several warning messages.I know there is a setting option to configure TimeOut, but is there anyway to test and track the ASA 5500 regarding this Timeout issues?

I have the asa 5505 with asdm 6.4(5). my inside LAN is 192.168.0.0/24. the outside of asa is connected on lan 10.13.74.0/24 and i need over LAN 10.13.74.0/24 connect on LAN 10.15.100.0/24. i put nat rule on asa 5505 and acl rule and users from lan 10.15.100.0/24 can connect on my server, but i can't connect on from inside of asa connect on lan 10.15.100.0/24 and 10.13.74.0/24. my configuration asa is Result of the command:

We recently got a 10 meg dedicated internet fiber connection installed. I connected it to a PIX 501 firewall and everything worked fine (I tested it for a couple of weeks). A couple of days ago I got a new ASA 5505 and replaced the PIX with this device. It works, but every so often there seems to be a timeout when surfing the web whereby I click on a link and there is up to a 45 second wait and then the page loads quickly. I was not getting this before on the PIX so I'm assuming it's not a latency issue with the connection. I am the only one using this connection on the network so it's not to say that it's being bogged down. I want to roll this out to the other users on the network but not when this is happening. The configuration is below:

I have a SIP trunk in my Florida office connected to a Cisco 2851 ISR. I'm using Unified Communications Manager 8.0 and life is great.
 
We just opened a new office in Spain and now the fun begins.  We created a site-to-site VPN tunnel using ASA 5510 in Florida and ASA 5505 in Spain. We can register IP Commuicator phones in Spain but when they make calls it shows up as a Florida call. We need it to show up as a Spain call.
 
We are thinking to get a SIP trunk into the Spain office but I only have a ASA 5505 over there. Can I terminate a SIP connection to it? Is this the best option? If not, what is the recommened setup?

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 Drops Outside Connection

I am having a problem with a ASA 5505. The users on the inside cannot access internet for the most of the time. When i looked over the configuration and tried a few changes i got out to internet about 5 seconds every 30 minute or so. Very strange. When i try to access internet i just get the windows post that DNS is not working properly. As you can see in my config i get all addresses dynamic from ISP.
 
I am not sure what to do next, i tried to set static routes, make Nat changes, static dns addresses, searching this forum but nothing works. It seems like there is a ISP problem but i have talked to the support twice today and they say that all is fine from their side. Does ASA behave like this?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Connection Dropping

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 - 50 VPN edition.  I have baffling network issues that I have not been able to pinpoint and I recently started to think it may have something to do with my ASA.  I'm a network administrator and I have a Cisco ASA 5505 in my home network so I can learn how to manage Cisco ASA's and utilize the Easy VPN feature so I have a always on VPN connection into work to log into servers, etc.  I've been using the ASA for almost 6 months with the EasyVPN feature with no issues.  My ISP is Comcast.
 
Within the last week my connections have been randomly dropping for about 20 seconds and then reconnecting.  I have two computers on the network that have a direct ethernet run to the switch ports on the back of the ASA.  When the connection drops, I see my LAN icons completely lose connectively (yellow exclamation warning) then after 20 seconds, reconnect.  This is very random.  I was able to get it to happen every time I connected to XBOX live and play a online game.  It would almost on cue drop after 30 minutes of online gamming.  Here are the steps I have taken:
 
1. Replaced 10/100 switch to a brand new 10/100/1000 switch from computer run in my office to the ASA.
no joy
 
2. I upgraded the ASA to the most recent firmware: ASA Version 8.4, ASDM Version 6.4
no joy
 
3. I had an ethernet run under my carpet to the office, I started to  think that maybe one of the cables had an issue after walking on it and  vacumming causing a short.  I removed all the ethernet under the carpet and installed power line over ethernet adapter from the ASA to my office.
no joy
 
4. I checked both computers on the network for viruses.  All computers came back clean after scanning wth Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware.
 
5. I've watched the logs on the ASA as the LAN connection drops and I don't see error messages to troubleshoot this issue.
 
The only thing left to replace is the Comcast modem or the Cisco ASA.  The Comcast modem is newer and only about 1 year old (rented from Comcast).  Since my actual LAN connection drops and I lose connectively I believe there may be some issue with the ASA or the ASA switch ports or some sort of internal hardware issue on the ASA.

I'm trying to get an asa5505 set up so that our web server can send an LDAPS login to a client's server and receive the request back. The default IP our traffic goes out on is different than where I want the connection to come back in on. So, I set a NAT rule to send all traffic from a specific inside IP out a default outside IP. I also allowed LDAPS traffic from the client's server IP address in and have nat'd it back to the appropriate inside IP address. It seems to build the outbound connection fine, but then seems to drop it right away, which then seems to not allow the response back in. I've attached a picture of the log, with (what I think are) the lines in question highlighted. I'm far from a routing expert, but this seemed like a fairly easy setup.

Modem Loses Its Connection?

I have Roadrunner Turbo and when it's online it works fantastic but after a couple hours or a days the modem loses it's connection for 30 minutes to many times a whole day or two.

When it loses it's connection I've tried disconnecting the modem and the router, waiting a minute and plugging it back in. I've tried reconnecting the cable wire and nothing works. I've even tried going to the TWC center and replacing the modem with a new one and it still happens.

The router I have is a WNDR3700 and it works great. We never lose connection to the router but the modem will lose its connection for when this happens the router's usual lights are on and we are all still connected to the router but the modem has only 2 solid lights and 1 blinking one.

DIR-615 Router Loses Connection

I currently have a d-link DIR-615E3 with the latest dd-wrt firmware (v24 from 2010-12-13). Everything seems to be ok when I boot up the router - with factory settings and unsecured wireless, I have an internet connection. When I enter the GUI, create a router username/password, everything is still fine. Then, when I create a wireless security password (WPA2 personal) I lose internet connection, and the only way to get it back is to do a hard reset of the router. This also happens if I change any setting within the ddwrt interface, not just the wireless settings. (I also have a linksys WRT54GL with ddwrt with absolutely no problems) My cable modem is a motorola surfboard SB5101U, ISP is comcast cable, running windows 7.

Router Connection Interrupting Every 15 Seconds?

However, only some of them remain, so I will describe them again here.My router (Belkin) was working fine for over a year. Everything seemed to be working just fine, then this happened to me once but the problem disappeared itself. However, day after that, it happened again after I restarted my notebook.Basically, my connection drops out for few seconds every few tens of seconds. This means that I get regular lags several times within every single minute. Here is screen from "ping [routerIP] -t".imgur: the simple image sharerQuite frustrating, huh... This is only wireless-related issue, connecting to the router directly using RJ-45 solves the problem.

I have tried restarting and reconfiguring the router, including changing SSID, Channels, turning off security, restarting and restoring factory defaults.My notebook seems to be the only PC having this issue (however, I have not been able to test that out yet, but the problems seemed to come exactly after a PC restart, very unlikely a coincidence). I have tried removing windows network profiles, restarting several times, setting a static IP and removing browser proxy settingsI have been trying to google the solution, but all I found were already known (and not working) solutions, also, everyone seems to be having a less frequent drops (few times in a day, or an hour, I would love that xD).

Internet Connection Goes Out Every Minute Or So For About 1-2 Seconds

The problem I am having is my wired internet connection is going out every minute or so and stays out for about 1-2 seconds at a time sometimes it stays out for around 3-4 mins usually twice a day. This problem has been occurring everyday for the past 2 or so years some days it is worse. I have power cycled the modem and router many times, replaced the router, replaced the modem bypassed the router and it always does the same thing. I have gotten cox cable to come out many times, once was to replace the modem, and it conveniently does not have problems when they come then i look stupid. I have showed them the screen shots of the outages from pinging multiple points on the network as shown in the attached screen shot, as you can see in window labeled 1 is a continuous ping of google.com, window 2 is the first hop on the tracert as shown at the bottom of the picture, window 3 is my modem, and window 4 is my router.

As you can see I never lose connection to my router or modem and it is the same when i run tests from other devices. Every time I call them or show them this picture the only response I get is there are no reported outages and to try to reset my modem and router or they can send a tech. When the tech comes there seems to be no problems and I show him the screen shots and he writes it off as peak hour malfunctions even though it does it at non-peak hours as well. Then when he leaves It starts to freak out again I have gone through this scenario at least 3 or 4 times and at this point am getting very frustrated. Even though it is not very noticeable with normal web browsing in gaming and streaming it is a nightmare. I would have already switched service providers if there were any other that service my area.

19 - Cisco Access points.  AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9 - All powered by Cisco Power Injector AIR-PWRINJ3.
 
Issue: 5 AP's in another building loses connection to the network and drops off from the Controller.  Sometimes it's all of them.  Sometimes it's just 1 or 2 or 3 of them.  Happens very randomly.  Somtimes once a week.  Sometimes, once every two weeks.  Only way that I know how to get them back up is to just power cycle them.  Once power cycled it comes right back up. 
 
This has been happening for awhile now and I really need to get to the bottom of this.  I understand it can be number of issues, like cabling, or power issues but what I really need is a steps to troubleshoot to narrow down.  what to look for, settings on controller?  etc...

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Connection Only Works For Few Seconds

I am having some difficulties using RDP on the LAN of the router. I previously had a Linksys E4200 router, and I was able to RDP from my Win7 computer (192.168.1.139) to my Win2k3 server on the LAN (192.168.1.251) with no issues. However, when I replace the E4200 with the WRVS4400N, the connection will only work for a few seconds.

It is not exclusive to RDP connections on the LAN either... I get a similar error when attempting to connect to computers off site. I could see MTU's being an issue if it was over a VPN connection, but there is no VPN involved in this case.

I have a simple network with an ASA5505 mainly used for AnyConnect so there is little traffic. There is 1 laptop connected to the E0/1 of the ASA and then E0/0 is going to the internet port. I've noticed about ever 15-20 minutes, I lose all connection. The laptop can no longer browse the web and handsets can no longer VPN into the network.  I've noticed a few seconds after performing a clear arp, all the connectinos are restored. The laptop can browse the web and handsets can VPN in again.

I followed below cisco document to configure dual ISP [URL] The Configuration works during the testing, while removing the primary ISP cable from firewall. The problem i am facing is my primary ISP is down but the gateway is still up and it not switch over to backup ISP. For SLA which IP should i monitor so once my primary ISP is down it will fallback to Secondary.

To sum it up the ASA is maxing out at 7MB down on a 25MB connection. The connection was tested with the ASA removed and the connection is fine.

Netgear N300 Loses Connection

Mediacom is my cable provider. They came out a few months ago and thought the problem was their Motorola modem. They replaced it with an RCA (Thomsen) which worked great for about 3 months.Now (3/13) I am losing my connection at least once a day.I started to download the new Netgear Firmware update, but in the middle of that, you guessed it, the connection dropped. So now my router is useless. There's probably a way to reset it, but I haven't found that yet. And so far the Netgear phone # is locked inside the router somewhere! I'm hard-wired to the RCA modem now, so we'll see. I have a feeling, after reading the previous thread, that my connection will be fine.I have my own cable modem, needed for a previous cable provider, and a new Netgear N600 2-frequency router.

Linksys Router Loses Connection After A While?

Network was:

AT&T Broadband ISP
LanCity LC-PET3 cable modem (non DOCSIS)
Linsys 4 port hub
2 Win98SE PCs
All worked fine

New network is: Same as above, with a Linksys 1 port router (BFSR11) between the cable modem and the hub.

Router is configured to be a DHCP server (default configuration).
I assigned the router a custom WAN side MAC to match one of my two PCs to avoid having to call AT&T to get things running.

Results: Everything runs perfectly fine initially, but after leaving and coming back to either system (left on, in standby) after quite a while (going to work / bed), the network connection is dead.

WINIPCFG still reports the same IP, but seems to hang forever if I attempt to release / renew. The router's is unreachable for configuration / status (it's still on the default IP of 192.168.1.1) Pressing the reset button on the back of the router restores the internet connection (quickly too - I'm back online in about 15 seconds).

Entering standby manually and coming back out again after just a couple minutes does not affect the internet connection - it seems to only occur when I'm off for an extended period of time. I have no had the time to determine what the period of time is, and if it is a fixed time since DHCP lease / initial startup, or if it is a fixed amount of inactivity time (or maybe even not a fixed amount of time at all).

Laptop Drops Internet Connection After 10 Seconds

New laptop, connected to my home network which is very stable and has no history of connection issues. After about 10 seconds the laptop drops the connection. Sometimes it'll come back for a while sometimes not, haven't observed any pattern in this yet, All I've done since starting the computer for the first time is installed all the junk that comes with it (Nero stuff mostly) and installed all windows updates (there were over 60 of them) and AVG Free edition. Before doing all that the connection was still not right but it did hold for a lot longer than 10 seconds. It held for over an hour downloading programs like Itunes, AVG and Firefox, Going to control panel > network sharing centre when the connection is down I see the yellow exclamation mark between my computer and my network. Troubleshooting this resets the network adapter, gives me the error 'The default gateway is not available' and says that it is fixed. The connection then works again for about 10 seconds and drops once more.

WRT54G V1 - Internet Connection Breaks Every 3 Seconds

I have 3 computers at my home, a WRT54G V1 router.

2 of the computers are connected wired to the router, the internet on them works fine. My other computer I have connected via wireless, and when I try to go on the internet every 3 seconds it is saying not available. Now one thing I noticed was that when I connected to the wireless network it renamed it to my computers service tag. I confirmed this via a friends laptop. From "Busted" to "DCLZMRH1_Network", defenetly not something I did.

When this wireless computer is connected, ALL computers on the network begin having the same problem where each 3 seconds everybody is disconnected randomly. However as soon as I turn the wireless computer off, everything goes back to normal on the wired computers.

I have successfuly replicated this issue using 2 different wireless adapters, one USB, and one "wired" the one you put on the inside (lol) I have Brighthouse Networks cable internet

TL-wdn4800 Wireless Connection Drops Out After 40 Seconds

The connection has been satisfactory for the first three weeks, but this last week my PC's connection has gone diggin through the Earth cause it sure as hell can't penetrate clearly.I personally have three devices, and the two roommates have their own and they have not mentioned any issues with theirs-if they've even noticed.My Devices:PC - OMG FML KMN, Mainly cause I want my EVE (crack)PS3 - No ProblemsTablet - No ProblemsSpeeds have been testing in ranges from 0.09 kbps to 8.25 mbps over five samplings this morning while the tablet's been testing standard speeds consistently.

During Xirrus' "Ping" testing (Yes, I Googled the hell out of and troubleshot this irritation for now almost two days first) my PC's connection died and was unable to locate my connection for at least 30 seconds. This had happened several times yesterday as well with the following instances :EVE Online x 2 clients I lost a thorax cause of itFive peripheral programs: Mumble, Pidgeon, Pyfa, EVEHQ, Garpa At least five tabs open on ChromeMisc software.In the past few days my PC's connection has been highly intermittent-and that's at best. First I thought it has something to do with my video drivers which I updated to no effect. Then I thought it might have something to do with some of the software I use for EVE Online which had me trying variations of running programs to still no useful effect.

I've also switched from the internal wireless device to a NetGear Dual Band adapter, but unfortunately it still produces the same results. This put me at a loss. If my other devices are staying connected, but two independent network devices produced the same failing result on the same PC...wth maaaan. Software? Hardware?

Cisco Firewall :: 5520 CPU Spikes Above 90% For 5 Seconds

i have ASA 5520 , some times the CPU Spikes above 90% for 5 Seconds then it went down to 35 - 40% ,but what happened when it shoots to 90% all connection go through this ASA gets drops then i receive complain since application traffic traverse this FW ,so how can i see the CPU History for last 1 week , i need to see the times and the date WHEN THE CPU went above 90% for 4 seconds.
