We have a 4410N that all the time drops the connetion. We have approx 25-30 users using wireless. But when they try to connect or are connected, the router drops the connection like a yo-yo. The firmware is updated with no difference.
The wireless connection is very unstable. It's configured with WPA2 Personal and is connected through a POE-switch with IPv4. The logs don't answer the questions why it drops the connection.
I also have problems with this type of accespoint, i have 2 (one in AP mode and the other in Client/Repeater mode).
Very often the connection between the pc and the repeater, and also between the 2 accespoints just "drops" out (like its resetting itself).
The accespoints are in enough range of eachother, so thats not the problem.
After the contact with Cisco here in Holland they said this type (4410N) is not stable with the 2.0.0.5 firmware, and its also limited to the B and G (not N) wireless, because else the accespoint will be even less stable??.
When can we expect a propper solution to this Cisco problem?
after reading the many issues reported here about the WET200's WPA abilities (or lack thereof), I doubt that there will be an easy solution to the issue I'm having, but it's worth a try.The setup consists of a WET200 that should bridge two devices in a remote room to our main network. The AP is a WAP4410N, which works beautifully with all other connected devices. The WAP4410N is set up in 'WPA2-Personal Mixed' mode, and only b/g (as n was giving other, unrelated trouble). The WET200 sees the network just fine, is able to connect and receives an IP from the DHCP server. The devices behind the bridge also have connectivity - all well so far. However, at a certain point in time, which i _believe_ to coincide with the key renewal on the AP, the bridge loses the connection to the AP, even though it reports its WLAN status on the web interface (via LAN) as connected. The AP's log shows the following (MAC address is the WLAN interface on the WET200).

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery single one of the WAP4410N units at every single client where they've been deployed is dropping the network connection.
After an undetermined amount of time, wireless devices connected to a WAP4410N begin to lose their network connection, but each will maintain their wireless connection to the WAP. The network connection will not be restored until the WAP is rebooted. It appears the affected devices are unable to obtain/renew their IP address at the time when they lose network connection. We reduced the DHCP lease time to 2 hours, and we had no problems for 2 weeks. We then changed the DHCP lease backup to 3 days and the problem returned.
This happens with one or two SSIDs in use, with or without VLANs, always in bridge mode.
Cisco support advised us that this is a known problem that was supposed to be corrected in the 2.0.4.2 firmware revision. They have found that it does work in approximately 90% of the updates from 2.0.3.3, but is still not working for some customers. It was supposed to be fixed with firmware version 2.0.6.1 (which we've tried) but no luck.
Besides the obvious "short DHCP lease" workaround, any better ideas? Is the WAP4410N a lemon?
I have installed a wired and wireless connection for a compound which is around150 squire meters. I used the Cisco wap4410n routers for the wireless setup.
The structure is like this.There is a connection coming from the service provider. There is a central switch where the connection coming from service provider, the server, one Cisco wap4410n router and other two switches are directly connected to it. Again I connected other switches to the switches getting connection from the central switch. I used Cat 5e and Cat 6 cables to connect the switches as well as the wireless routers (For more info , the cable goes underground) and I used cross-over cable to connect switch to switch and straight-through to connect routers to switches. I connected the other Cisco wap4410n routers to the switches outside( I get like 6 Cisco wap4410n routers)The wireless routers are connected to the switches which are connected to the central switch and also on the other switches.
The routers are configured to have their default AP mode.My problem The connection is very slow. The connection is down almost every week and it needs to be re-configured. The connection nice on the router which is directly connected to the central switch(but not the same on the others routers which are connected to the other switches)even when I reset them they don't fall to .245 ( which is ok I can see them on the DHCP server but I still see it as problem)when I set them as a wireless wireless repeater, full signal but no connection(given that I have set same SSID, enabled allow wireless signal to be repeated, filling MAC addresses) Down here I have tried to show the architecture diagrammatically.
We've had this AP for just over a year and just recently it started dropping its wireless connection. To fix, I have to and unplug the power and then plug it back in.. Then it works again for a few hours and drops out again. If I navigate to the config page right after it drops, all of the settings seem to be completely gone. But if I go through and unplug/plug it in again, all of the settings are back.
I updated the firmware to 2.0.4.2, but that didn't seem to resolve the problem. Is this thing a brick now?
I am trying to use some WAP4410N in client mode, not much luck.In one case they shouldt connect to different unsecured networks controlled by a Cisco 5508 controller.I can get connection to one of the SSID's but not very stable.One ssid can be seen if i switch from ap-mode to client and run a sitesurvey. If i after that run a site survey again the ssid is not shown.Cant get connected. A third ssid acts "normal" but the 4410 never connects.I have a forth case, WPA2 Personal, cant connect.Been trying fw 2.0.3.3 still no succesAre client mode not usefull at all ?

They decided to re-ip the site and they had 3 wireless access points. I had to hard reset and re-configured the WAP. All the laptop in the building have reception and can get internet. If i connect anyone cell phone, wii or tablets to the wifi, it does not connect.

Cisco 871W router
2x WAP 4410N APs running 2.0.3.3
I currently have 1 AP connected to the router via copper. The AP to AP link is over 802.11. I have attached a diagram reflecting the current topology.
The AP-to-AP link will come up utilizing B/G/N mixed mode; however, the connection is basically unusable. About 30% of the traffic is dropped, while the packets that do make it have a consistently volatile latency, anywhere from 15 to 1500 ms. I have had success using G-only and B/G mixed. The link is stable (I have had the best results with B/G). The problem is, I didn't buy the 2nd 4410N to run the G protocol. I would like to connect the APs running either B/G/N (hopefully negotiating to N) or N only. I am wondering if there is a certain configuration I can utilize (perhaps using WDS repeater or bridge versus Wireless Client/Repeater?), or a firmware upgrade set for release that can make this happen for me.
We have three WAP4410N that loses the connection. We've updated the firmware, changed the equipment, repeatedly reconfigured, but the problem persists.Is used the firmware 2.0.5.3 with WPA2 Enterprise Mixed authentication.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using WAP4401N for almost a year in our office and I’m very happy of this device, never had any problem. So I bought 3 new ones for our customer which supposed to work in configuration below:
Network ----- AP1 –Bridge mode ----- AP2 – Bridge mode -----AP3 – Access Point mode.
Everything was working perfectly fine to the moment than bridge was broken. I can get access to all AP (obviously when connected to proper part of network) however not able to ping from AP2 -> AP1 or opposite so basically no link between AP1 and AP2. After reboot everything is working fine to next time (happens twice in two days). When I go to System Performance can see Connection is enabled but doesn’t work.
I upgraded firmware to latest version (2.0.5.3) but haven’t worked. When I’ve done some research found many users having similar problem with this device and basically they recommend to don’t buy. Unfortunately this is not an option for me as I’ve already purchased them.
My WAP4410N is configured with 4 seperate SSIDs. Two of the SSID status are showing "Enabled". The other 2 are shown as "Connected". The one that are showing as Enabled are not receiving any packets. Devices connected to the SSID that shows "Enabled" are unable to connect to the network. Any one else encountered similar issues before? This issue just surfaced few hours ago. The device has been using for around 2-3 years with minimal issues.

After that are we still able to use the internet over al four access points?
I am using a desktop computer and have the router downstairs so I am using a wireless usb to connect to the internet. My router is a Linksys E1000 and the wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. The problem is Every few mins I drop connection for may 5-30 secs and then the internet is fine. During that time it does not say I only have local connection or anything like that it constantly says I have internet connection even when I dont. It is very noticable when i am playing an online game on my computer. I will get a few mins in and then it will drop kicking me out of the game and by the time I get kicked out my Internet is reconnected and I can join again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and have been experiencing problems when connecting to my personal wireless network. It seems that whenever I'm downloading anything or using the connection extensively I'll lose internet connection and the wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show an orange star to indicate that connections are available. However if I go to available networks I can immediately reconnect to the network I was on.
I have other notebooks that run on XP that do not have this issue and use the connection without a problem. Also when I connect my notebook directly to my belkin router via Ethernet cable the connection has issues. I'm running my computer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my Wireless adapter is an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi adapter which appears to have up to date drivers.
I already have an existing wireless network set up. Since buying a laptop the internet wireless connection drops out from the laptop after 'sleeping'. I then have to troubleshoot to get the connection back again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 AIR-WLC4402-K9 devices at a remote location that will both drop their network connections some undetermined time after a reboot. We cannot reach them via telnet, SSH or HTTP. In fact, we cannot even ping them once they drop connection. The only cure we've found so far is to power-cycle the controllers. The controllers are in separate rooms and connected to separate switches. We've confirmed the links are configured as trunks and have the correct speed/duplex settings. I tried updating the IOS & boot loader on one of them but that had no effect on the problem.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI am trying to track down a problem I am having with one laptop. Other wireless devices on the network are not showing the same problem. Connecting to the router by ethernet resolves the problem.Over a 120 second period, the wireless connection drops and reconnects several times. Each time it drops it almost immediately picks up and re-connects. The "down time" is usually between 5 and 20 seconds.I have updated the driver for the wireless card (it was out of date) but this did not resolve.
Reading posts here - I see you typically need to see a WiFi inspector screen shot - which I have attached. You can see a couple of "drops" on the graph.
My wireless connection randomly drops, or has no Internet connection, or says it has connection and Internet but no web pages load. Usually, what happens is it says I have no Internet connection. I have to disconnect and reconnect to get the Internet back. My ethernet connected computer never loses connection.
I am running Windows 7 with a Realtek wireless card. I have updated the driver to the latest. The wireless router is a D-Link 615 e1 using DD-WRT. The router is hooked up to a Brighthouse Arris TM402G/110 modem for internet access (note: this is my second modem. I had the same problem with another modem. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name.)
When the router is connected to a U-Verse 2Wire 3800HGV modem/wireless router (with the wireless turned off) I have no Internet disconnections. Everything else is the same (I just move the Ethernet cable between the two modems). Of course, one is just a modem and the other is a NAT router/modem.
I noticed that the wireless connection has a weaker signal when connected to the Brighthouse modem then when connected to the U-Verse modem. I therefore tried to up the TX signal strength on the router. This improved the situation (and the signal strength) but I still get disconnects. I also tried setting the MSS to 1492.
Been searching threads here and all over google. I have DSL thru Century Link.Router is Zyxel pk5001z. 2 laptops being used. ( well, they were until my MB fried out.) My laptop has Win 7, my girlfriends has Vista.- Dell inspiron 1525. Only had the service for about 2 mo's. My laptop was working fine wirelessly. Hers drops constantly.Currently hers is the only one being used.Sometimes shows the red x, other times just local only.- Drops and reconnects within seconds. I have set channel to 6 and 11. disabled IPC 6 in laptop adapter, uninstalled/reinstalled wireless card in device manager, checked for newer driver, checked for firmware upgrade in modem, set to g/n only, ( no option for G only) connection strenth is full. No wirless phones, no close neighbors, etc. I have read posts indicating the routers are junk, other posts saying Vista has issues with certian routers, but nothing that pinpoints my exact problem. Also, just re-loaded Vista the other day.

I have to power cycle the modem and router to get things working again. When I plug my computer in with an ethernet cord and leave a torrent downloading, the connection doesn't drop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 routers the first is plugged into the telephone line and has a power-line adapter plugged into it the second router which is downstairs is just to extend the range,unfortunately I have a very poor connection (wireless) and internet often drops out. I want to reset the power-line adapter but but will this mean that the connection will be lost from the second router and it is just my computer that is wrong? My trouble is that I don't think the power-line adapter is working but it might be or... its just that the they both connect between each other wirelessly? Or do they both connect to each other wirelessly? both connections from each router are pretty poor. I have updated my wireless card as well. I am not resetting the power line adapter until I know the internet is going to be fine afterwards as my Dad needs it for his work

It seems to keep a connection alive, but the wireless signal will suddenly and randomly disappear from all of my devices. I have reviewed this forum for hours and have made many changes to my settings, but nothing seems to keep the wireless signal from dropping.
Deleted the B mode, made sure the DNS entries were present, stick on one channel, etc. There are no other routers here and all of my phones operate on the 5 Ghz frequencies.
I never, not even once in three years, had this problem with the A version of the same router, but now it's a constant problem at least once a day. Nothing has changed by the router same brand and model but the newer hardware version.
The only remedy I have found is to reboot the router -- my devices will reconnect automatically once the router reboots, but there is no connection discovered once the connection drops regardless of how long the router sits doing its thing.
I've also notices that there are no wireless clients showing under status/wireless...they were there earlier today, but since the latest reboot, gone.
DLink 655 Fully Upgraded Firmware Multiple Laptops have the same issue, each has a different O/S from OSX to xp, vista and win 7. As soon as any laptop tries to download files, youtube, even web pages... There is nothing wrong with my wired connection. The thing is, each laptop gets disconnected then almost instantly reconnected. It is very annoying.The only thing I have found to fix it is turning off my wireless security completely. This is unacceptable! I am a computer scientist and in the security field. Ive tried WEP with both key sizes, WPA-Personal is what I originally was using before I started changed settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DIR-655 and my internet connection drops every day. I have replaced the DIR-655 with a linksys just to try it and it works fine. This has happened with more than 1 of these 655''s. Also I have clients calling saying the wireless drops and it will not let them reconnect until I reboot the router. I have updated to the newest firmware with the same issues. I know its not bad cause I have more than 1 655 doing the same thing at a different location as well.

We have a Cisco 1142 AP which has been suffering chronic connection drops to Mac OSX clients.
Sometimes clients go for days without an issue. Other times, connections drop several times within a 15 minute period. Problem seems to be independent of location with regards to AP. It happens when the client is within 20 feet, visual sight. [code]

i have a wireless device and every 1 hours the connection drops and i must reboot the device
Have a MacBook and using Firefox. All lights on the router and modem are green. Does the same thing no matter what distance laptop is from router/modem. Seems to do it in 2-3 minute intervals.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my wife a new laptop in October, and it runs on windows 7, since the 25th of december she has been having connectivity issues with her wireless card. She had 2 bars on her signal strength, and I wanted to take the signal strenght out of the equation, so I got a N range booster to put in the room she is usually in, she now has a signal strength of 5 bars. However she still loses connection to the internet.
ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.
